Underrated Movies, Part I

ImageThe Words

I am smitten by this movie! I have just watched something so very intriguing and touching and smart – I still can’t believe it. Usually, I don’t comment on a movie right after watching, because I always love it at first and see the flaws much later on, but I’m going to make an exception for this one.

Essentially, the movie is a story within a story within a story, which sounds far more complicated than it actually is. It’s about a writer who stole another man’s work and has to live with his decision. I can’t believe this movie was barely noticed by the public, especially, since it was so very brilliantly cast. Throw Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana, Jeremy Irons, Dennis Quaid, Olivia Wilde and (one of my favorites) Ben Barnes in the mix and you are bound to get a hit blockbuster, at least I would have thought so.

Unfortunately, the movie got very bad reviews and didn’t make a lot of money according to the Box Office numbers. I honestly disagree though; I think it is a very good film. It’s dramatic and intellectual yet still emotional. In my opinion it is like you are reading a great book in pictures (Hope that sentence just made some sort of sense to you).

What do you think about The Words? Am I exaggerating? Or do you agree that it is a very underrated movie?
