Movies that got turned into (TV) shows

Recently there has been a trend for movies to get turned into TV shows, which I think is a really bad idea, but look at some examples for yourself:

Zombieland

Zombieland was a comedic zombie-film starring Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin. It widely reveived positive critics, which is probably the reason why they decided to make a show out of it in the first place. The show pretty much features the same kind of characters, even though they are not portrayed by the same actors and actresses. It is produced by amazon, but I am just not convinced at all that this is going to work. People liked the original, but that doesn’t mean they are going to like the show just as much. Take a look at the trailer and tell me what you think:

Bad Teacher

Bad Teacher is the story of a sexy but really lazy woman, who becomes a teacher and tries to find her next (preferably rich) husband. The original movie starred Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel, Justin Timberlake and Lucy Punch, whereas the cast for the TV show is not yet fully known. So far, the project planned by cbs is only in development. I, personally, didn’t even like the movie and think the show is just unnecessary. Do you agree? Or did you enjoy the movie and would like to see the storyline further developed? Besides the TV show there will also be a Bad Teacher 2 coming into the movies at some point in early 2014.

  1. I was under the impression that the Zombieland TV show was cancelled almost as soon as it began – it certainly doesn’t look like it has anything on the movie!
