I think I made it pretty clear in my previous posts that I will be mentioing details of the episode and therefore I do not recommend to read this post if you haven’t watched BBC’s Sherlock His Last Vow yet. (Spoilers!)
This season was simply extraordinary! To me it seemed to focus a lot more on character developement than the previous ones and I know I am being greedy, but I just wish the seasons would be longer. This epsiode started and I think my heart nearly stopped a couple of the times in the first 30 minutes.
Sherlock being back on drugs, Molly hitting him a couple of times (I love feisty Molly!) and Sherlock having a girlfriend … I simply couldn’t breathe! Although I am not sure I mentioned it in the previous post, I didn’t really like Janine in the Sign of Three, so, I was definitely shocked to find her in his bedroom. And as if all this wasn’t enough, my assumption that Mary was going to be involved with Magnussen somehow became reality. I have to say, I didn’t expect her to be a spy or assassin or whatever she is, but I knew she was going to be part of that storyline somehow.
Again, the episode also featured really lovely Mycroft and Sherlock moments. What is it with them this season, that I just can’t get enough of Cumberbatch and Gatiss acting together? Also, little Sherlock and his dog were just too cute.
The grand finale was of course mindblowing, but I didn’t expect anything less from them. Somehow, I was a little disappointed that Magnussen had his own mind palace. I would have believed that he was reading the information on his glasses as well! Sherlock acutally shooting him was a real shocker to me, but I wouldn’t have seen any other way out as well. Now there is only one question left! How on earth did Moriarty survive shooting himself in the head!?!?!? I can’t believe we have to wait a year or even more than that to find out …
Oh, and before I forget it, I want to say: I told you so! Molly’s relationship with Tom didn’t last! I knew it!
What did you think? Was this just your favourite season ever, or do you prefer the classic Holmes solving more or less normal crimes?
