100th Post and Hope for Marshmallows

I am so happy to have reached another milestone in my blogging “career”. This is my 100th post (which for a long time, I seriously doubted that I would ever reach) and what better way to celebrate than to talk about one of my all time favourite shows: Veronica Mars!

When I was younger I adored the TV show, although no one seemed to hype it like I did. But Veronica Mars was and still is a great role model and I couldn’t have been happier about the Kickstarter feature length movie they made, because it definitely deserved to continue. Now, it’s going to take a while until they’ll make another movie – that is, if they make another movie. But don’t despair Marshmallows!

On the one hand there are the companion books for the show that creator Rob Thomas co-wrote with Jennifer Graham. The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line has been out for a while and in October you can expect the new release of Mr. Kiss and Tell. I personally haven’t read the books yet, but they take place after the movie and I will put up a review as soon as I can get my hands on some copies of them.

If you are more of a visual type and don’t just want to read about the adventures of Veronica there is another treat for us. CW Seed has agreed to produce an original digital series featuring almost all of our beloved Mars-cast-members. The show will be called Play It Again, Dick and will revolve around Ryan Hansen, who tries to create a spin-off series for his on-screen character Dick Casablancas. In the series the CW only agrees to make the show with Ryan if he can get his old cast members to reprise their roles as well. The list of actors and actresses who appear is extremely long and they will almost all play their Veronica Mars characters as well as a slightly skewed version of their real selves. Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III, Daran Norris, Francis Capra, Kyle Gallner, Christopher B. Duncan, Ken Marino, Chris Lowell, Amanda Noret and Lisa Thornhill will return for Hansen’s funky and weird new detective show, but there are also some new faces. Ryan Devlin (who played the rapist in the third season) will now star as the new face of Duncan Kane – talking about weird … Also Robert Buckley and Rose McIver will have a small role.

I personally can’t wait for Play It Again, Dick, because it sounds absolutely hilarious! What do you think? Do you miss the old show?

  1. Have you read the books by now? I keep meaning doing it and haven’t yet.

I was so thrilled when the movie news came out – I even donated some money for the cause. I absolutely adored the series when it was shown, and I thought it was cut off too early. I’ve watched it several times since, and I have to say I think it held its ground well over time. High school Veronica is still a great character, even after all this time, and it was great meeting all the characters again.

(Logan! In uniform! I might have rewatched that particular scene 323423 times).

Not sure at all what to expect from the Play it Again, Dick, show, but considering I loved the fundraising movie they made, I’m pretty sure I will enjoy this just by the merit of having all of the gang there.

    • I am on a sort of book ban until I finish the stuff I have at home. I keep spending all my money on books until I have piles of them, but I never finish all of it before buying some more. I am a book addict, but I have times where the words just won’t go into my head and I keep reading the same sentence over and over again. I am currently in one of those phases, so the VM books will have to wait for a little longer, but I will post a review if I ever get to reading them!

I was so mad when the show was cancelled. It was and still is one of my all time favourites!

      • I am a book, DVD and blu-ray addict, which is really dangerous for both my bank account and my limited space. But I just can’t help it. The way I see it, even if I do have piles of books I haven’t gotten around to on my shelves at all times, then, so what? It only means that whenever I do have the time to read something, I have a decent selection to pick from!

Or alternatively, having a pile of books next to my bed when I am sick and being unable to decide what I feel like reading. But admittedly, I had so much on my reading and buying list, that I haven’t even gotten around to buying the VM books. Oh well, at least they are there for me when I need some new VM fix…. such a brilliant show. I do hope that we will get another film at some point, I felt like there’s so much that has been left to deal with, as much as it was great seeing all those faces again…. and the books aren’t enough.

      • That is actually a very interesting way to look at it! Maybe I should just say the same, because it does feel better if I have a collection to chose from, rather than having to read or watch that one specific thing. Also, you’re not always in the mood for some stuff, that’s perfectly normal as well.

I hope they’ll be working on a new movie or something like that soon. I think it’s at least their intention, but who knows when that will be.

Get better soon! It always sucks to be sick :/
