It’s the last day of August which means it’s time to see how I did during the month. Here is what my TBR looked like:
- Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
I enjoyed reading this, but I don’t love it as much as many other people do. I think it may have been hyped too much for me. - Armada by Ernest Cline
I actually liked this better than RPO and think I am fairly alone with that opinion. Doesn’t matter, I liked it and can’t wait for it to be turned into a movie, because that’s what it felt like while reading. - The Martian by Andy Weir
I LOVE this book!!! It has become an insta-favourite of mine simply because it is so much more hilarious and smart than I thought it would be. - The Magicians Trilogy by Lev Grossman (I read the first book, so I see it as an accomplishment)
The pacing of the first book was a little off and the characters a bit too miserable for my taste but I will still read the other two books.
Additionally to that, I also read:
- A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
This was positively addicting and I’ll make sure to check out more of Maas’ books soon.
If you want to know more about my thoughts on the books than just that 1-sentence-review, just click on the titles and you’ll be re-directed to my full reviews. If you click on the covers below, you’ll get to their respective Goodreads pages.
So, I’d say it was a fairly average month for reading, because I’ve definitely read more but also less books per month before. All in all I am happy with the outcome.
I’ve posted more than usually though by making sure to write on a daily basis (sometimes even more than one post per day) since August 11. I don’t know what inspired me to do that, but it definitely showed in a surge of followers and we are getting really close to a milestone soon! I want to take this chance to welcome everyone who’s fairly new to the blog and thank those who’ve stuck around! You are the ones that make this blogging experience even more fun!!!
I’ll try to keep this up in September ;)! Read you soon!
😀 a milestone?! YAY!!!

Yeah 🙂 far from being as huge as yours with 500 – CONGRATS for that by the way ;). But I am getting close to 200 WordPress followers and I think that’s pretty massive too 😀

It will only get better and better and better. It’s a bit complicated to keep up with sometimes, but I LOVE this show.

😀 I’m really liking it so far, but nothing has really happened yet, they’re all getting their vision

It takes a long while until they actually figure out how their connection works and what’s going on. Still, I think their separate lives are pretty interesting by themselves.

Well, didn’t you just want to wait until you knew there was a Season 2 because of the open end? I get that. But I couldn’t stand the wait. I had to watch it all right away 😉

yeah, but we have known that there will be a season 2 for a few weeks now…

Yeah, but you were busy with books. Actually, why am I the one defending you being late on the Sense8 train? Shouldn’t you do that yourself hahaha either way, glad you are finally hooked as well. I binged it in less than 2 days and after that my brain was pretty scrambled. I can’t wait to find out how you’ll feel afterwards.

I will take more time… it will probably be during mealtimes only =/

Yeah I did it on a weekend with nothing but time. So, I totally get that. I was so out of it, I dreamed I was part of a cluster after finishing the show. It was super weird. (and if you don’t know what a cluster is yet, you’ll find out soon.)

I’ll find out (I had to pause it to do stuff, lol)

My TV schedule is looking pretty empty right now.
Mondays there’s nothing.
Tuesday is pretty full (Chasing Life, Devious Maids, Significant Mother, Awkward and Faking It)
Wednesday is empty
Thursday is only ANTM and Young & Hungry
Friday is Dominion and Mistresses
Saturday and Sunday is empty.
I am SO GLAD the new TV season is starting soon!

Awesome list!! I was one of those who loved Ready Player One, but have just started Armada and hoping that I like it just as much! I bought the Martian on audiobook, but I kept getting distracted and losing my way through it, so I’ll have to try it again. I just read The Nightingale, and that was an awesome read! More of a historical fiction rather than a scifi, but really good!

Thanks!
There is a lot of scientific babble in the Martian and I think I was glad to be able to read it at my own speed. I actually can’t really imagine it as an audiobook (except for maybe with the voice of Matt Damon … that might work for me :))
I don’t think I’ve heard of the Nightingale, but I usually don’t read a lot of historical fiction. I’ll make sure to check it out though!

I think the sci-babble is what led to my zoning out and being distracted. And if that were Matt Damon I’d probably be listening to that on repeat! 😀 Maybe I’ll have read it to get through it…I really want to!

I think it’s hilarious sometimes but as I said, I can imagine it being more difficult if you don’t actually have the words in front of you.
I’m really excited for the movie to come out, because Matt Damon will play Mark Watney. I can totally see it.

Yes! I love to read the books before I watch the movie because reading a book after watching the movie takes away all the fun! But it’s always fun to see how a book you love come to love…and it’s also fun because, Matt Damon.

Me too!!! I have a hard time doing it the other way round, reading the book after I watched the movie though. However, I do get a lot of reading ideas from trailers for upcoming movies I like. Almost everything is based off a novel these days.
