I was tagged to do the Sleeper and the Spindle Book Tag by Stephanie @Adventures of a Bibliophile. It was apparently created by Epic Reads and inspired by Neil Gaiman‘s book of the same title. I haven’t read that one, but fairy tales are just way too alluring for me to say no to, so big thanks to Stephanie for tagging me! Let’s get on with this and have some fun!
What would you change about your favourite fairy tale?
First off, it’s really difficult for me to pick a favourite fairy tale. It’s like asking me what’s my favourite book – IMPOSSIBLE TO ANSWER! But for the sake of this tag, I will chose something and that’s The Fisherman and His Wife. If I could change something about the story, then I would want that divorce had been possible at the time and that the Fisherman had left his wife. She was such a terrible and greedy human being, instead of being content with what they had she simply wanted more until they lost it all again.
If you were cursed to sleep forever, where would you sleep?
I don’t know if you guys saw Winter’s Tale or not, but Beverly had a constant fever and therefore slept outside because she was always feeling hot. Her bedroom was on the roof, her bed encased by dark burgundy curtains. I am not saying that I am always hot, far from it, but if I were to sleep forever anyway, I’d still sort of think that it would be romantic for it to be somewhat outside. I wouldn’t feel the cold anyway.
If you could live in a fairy tale, which one would you choose?
I think I might just have to steal Stephanie’s answer here and say the Beauty and the Beast. IMAGINE ALL THE BOOKS IN THE BEAST’S LIBRARY!!!
What is the worst curse a witch could bestow upon you?
Stephanie gave another great answer, hers was Jessica Jones related and I definitely have to agree, but I don’t want to be boring and just keep copying her answers. But I think the worse thing that could happen is that a witch would take away all my memories, rob me of the fond things I know about my family and friends. She would take away everything that has made me me over time. Like Clara said, “Tomorrow’s promised to no one, but I insist upon my past! I am entitled to that!”
Would you choose to be Snow White or Sleeping Beauty?
Tough one, but I think I’ve always liked Snow White better. I’m pale too and I like apples, so I can totally relate.
Which fairy tale would you want to read as a YA retelling?
There’ve been so many retellings already that I am trying to think of something that I haven’t read yet. I’ve definitely come across Red Riding Hood, Snow White and Beauty and the Beast, so that’s out of the question. I think I’ve read that the Lunar Chronicles sort of cover Rapunzel, but since I haven’t actually read them yet (!!), that’s my fairy tale of choice.
