I am not huge on resolutions. I don’t even know why, I just know that I either want to change something about my life or want to reach a certain goal, but I don’t need the new year for that. However, Trisha @The Bookgasm Blog has introduced and tagged me to do the 2016 Resolutions Book Tag. It’s really easy, there are no specific rules, just four categories. You can list as many resolutions as you like, there is no right way to do this! Since they are categories I really like and don’t mind thinking about, I am all in!
Bookish Resolutions
In 2016, I will..
- Read a couple of classics. (I will finish Frankenstein and I will attempt getting through A Tale of Two Cities! And others of course as well!)
- Come up with a book budget and stick to it! (I put myself on a book buying ban this year and it wasn’t fun, so I am hoping that I can work better with an actual buying schedule.)
Book Blogging Resolutions
In 2016, I will..
- Start doing book discussion posts! (Totally stealing this from Trisha, but I have thought about it and feel like I should start writing discussion posts of my own … now I only need a topic)
- Comment more often on other blogs aka your blogs! (I am really trying to be active on other blogs as well, but time is of the essence here. The posts accumulate so easily, I tend to overlook a couple of things – sorry for that!)
- Take less time to write award posts or tell people that I won’t be able to do them. (I don’t mean that I won’t do them at all, but I have had some of them in my drafts for months and I am not sure I will ever come up with good answers. I don’t want to be repetitive and sometimes those awards just tend to be that way.)
Career/ Academic Resolutions
In 2016, I will..
- Find a job that makes me happy! (I’ve had some fun jobs in my time, but barely any that I could see myself doing beyond a pre-set amount of time.)
- Be more active in finding a job abroad! (I want to move away from my country, so I actually have to do something! Baby steps! Maybe Germany is the right start for that.)
Personal Resolutions
In 2016, I will..
- Stay on my healthy diet! (I’ve changed my diet in the last months and I’ve lost more than 5 kg, so I am really happy about that. Let’s stay on that path!)
- Find a sport that I like! (This isn’t very creative, but if I really want to be healthy, I need to work out in one way or another. I will definitely get back to swimming when possible.)
- Don’t stress so much about things that I can’t change. (Why bother if I can’t change anything anyway, right?)
- Go out of my comfort zone a little more. (It happens that this is when I meet the best people and have a good time, but I am afraid I need to be forced, because other times it just turns out to be terrible and I wonder why I subject myself to these kind of situations …)
- Keep writing and editing my own stories!! (Don’t know why that’s last, because it’s really important to me!)

Good luck with A Tale of Two Cities. I personally hated it and couldn’t finish it (not exactly smart of me because I read it for class in high school), but maybe you’ll enjoy it. And Germany’s expensive, but if you find a good paying job there, then have fun and say hi to Munich for me.

I am more thinking along the lines of Berlin, since it’s cheaper than Munich, but we’ll see what I can find.
I can’t get past the first sentence of A Tale of Two Cities. I’ve tried so many times, but I am stuck there.

Funny, for me the first paragraph of that book is the only good part of it.

I like it too! But I can’t concentrate on the rest of it.

I’ve been there before. This is why I don’t read a lot of classic novels, though props to the people who can and enjoy them.

Good resolutions! I’m trying to do more book discussions too—I’ve actually signed up for a Book Blogger Discussion Challenge! Are you doing this? If not, give it a go, we can try it together! http://feedyourfictionaddiction.com/2015/12/2016-book-blog-discussion-challenge-sign-up.html
Good luck with your goals 🙂

Great resolutions and good luck! I keep making these things but I never end up sticking to them, haha.
And I’m with you there with more discussion posts and less stressing out about things I can’t change. If only they were easy to actually do… I’m an over-thinker by nature. D:

Thank you! I am usually not one to stick to resolutions either, but I think most of them are somehow manageable. Although, I have to admit that I have no idea about what to do about my own overthinking of things hahaha
Emma posted a link to a 2016 Book Blog Discussion Challenge in the comments. Maybe you should take a look at it! I am really considering participating in it, because it would really help to have a given topic!

Did you consider combining similar awards into one post?

Yes 🙂 I did. I even combined a couple of awards already. But admittedly, I am simply running out of facts about myself after 8 Liebster Awards or so.

Yeah. I know what you mean. You could always just mention that you were nominated in another post.

Yeah, I am trying to find a way where I can really appreciate the fact that someone considered me for the nomination without just not doing the post at all. I could definitely do that. We’ll see 🙂

i need to get into reading a classic book as well. What classic books are you thinking about reading?
LikeLiked by 1 person
I don’t want to overdo it, because I know myself and I don’t get through many classics. So, aside from Frankenstein and A Tale of Two Cities, I still have a couple of Austen novels at home and maybe I’ll finally finish Jane Eyre. Other contenders are The Sun Also Rises by Hemingway and The Beautiful and Damned by Fitzgerald.
