I have to say it is strange to write 2016 and I almost did write 2015 right there. But welcome to a New Year! I hope everyone’s transition went well! I have a bit of a more ambitious TBR this month, but with the side note that I am not going to be sad/mad/whatever if I don’t actually read all of it. Here’s my plan:
- Seven Ways We Lie by Riley Redgate
This was on my December TBR as well and I am currently at 28% and am hoping to finish it soon! - Roger et ses Humains by Paka/Cyprien Iov
A French Comic Book? What? Yes, I read that and I (luckily) even understood it. Actually, I finished it at 1 AM in the new year and am planning on reviewing it very soon. I hope this will go over well! - Once Upon a Time – Red’s Untold Tale by Wendy Toliver
Although the show Once Upon a Time definitely has it’s ups and downs, I simply couldn’t resist this book. I got it for Christmas and was so happy, because it is simply gorgeous! I cannot wait to find out about Red’s/Ruby’s backstory! - S. by J.J. Abrams/Doug Dorst
I’ve seen this book around in the bookstore a couple of times, but I had no clue what it was about, therefore I was thoroughly surprised when I got it as a present from one of the best people on the planet, my cousin, Julia. It’s this very strange adventure book with like 3 different stories and postcards and newspaper cutouts in it. It’s going to be so exciting, even though I don’t think that it’s a book that you read in a linear fashion. - Red Rising by Pierce Brown
I heard so many good things about it and lastly the videos on Tashapolis channel on YouTube really convinced me to give it a go. I am definitely looking forward to getting into this series! - Zeroes by Scott Westerfeld/Margo Lanagan/Deborah Biancotti
People with lousy superpowers? Count me in! - Did I Mention I Need You? by Estelle Maskame
Okay, I am not sure this is really happening this month, but maybe I am going to do a buddy read with Cristina for this one. We were lucky and got copies for it for spreading some love for the first book of the series, Did I Mention I Love You?, which we both liked. Are we still on for that? Want to post-pone it?
So, that’s it! Click on the covers if you want to know more about the books! What are you planning on reading this month?
7 ways we lie sounds great! And I read ‘Uglies’ by Scott Westerfield. Can’t say it was my favourite book but maybe Zeroes is better! Happy new year! Xx

So far 7 Ways We Lie is really fun to read. I haven’t read Uglies, so I don’t have anything to compare it to. But I am hoping I’ll like it. I am digging the premise at least.

Yeah Zeroes sounds promising from the synopsis! I’ve added 7 Ways We Lie to my TBR. 😉

Same here! I decided it was time to finally just buy the book and read it and now I am really excited to get to it.

great TBR, i’m curious about Red Rising too, it helps that the author is one gorgeous human being. Oh yeah! Did I mention I need you? YES! I’ll put it in my tbr too and we’ll see if we can get to it this month or if we have to leave it do February 😉 (it’s not like we don’t talk everyday :P)

Pierce Brown definitely got Hottest YA author of the year for a reason! And he is so funny and nerdy too!!! That just makes him even more lovable.
Yes! There’s no rush with the book only coming out in March, right? And totally, since we talk every day there shouldn’t be a scheduling issue hahaha

yes, it comes out in march, so we’re good 😉 ! 😀 😀 😀

I was super fast and already posted the review for Roger and his Humans already hahaha. I am done with that for today and am now trying to FINALLY get through Seven Ways We Lie, which is funny, but somehow I feel like I am reading at the speed of a sloth.

I’m going to read your review next (it’s already opened) – i have to admit that in the last 2 weeks, I’ve only kept up with a couple of blogs, your and Cátia’s… =/ (I’m a bad blogger). Are you enjoying the book though, even with the slow reading speed? Carry on is super fast and funny 😀

I get that! I couldn’t keep up with everyone during the holidays either. I simply didn’t spend enough time on the computer for that. You’re not a bad blogger though! I am sure everyone will agree with me on that one!
Yeah, I do like it! It’s written very teenager-y though with a lot of “and then she was like” and even though I am not against that, it’s sometimes a little too much for me. So far so good though!

oh, i can see how that can be somewhat hard to get through…

There are seven different POVs and it isn’t like that in everyone of them, so it isn’t that bad.

lol. The last one I finished, Distraction, the girl had a way of speech that bothered me a bit too…

It happens sometimes. I definitely know that the book won’t get 5 stars, but it’s not bad either.
LikeLiked by 1 person
well, is it still in the 4 stars running?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yeah, sort of. More on the 3.5 stars scale, but it could all change with the ending. I am not even halfway through it. I don’t have .5 or any other number ratings for my rating-pictures though hahaha I am too lazy to create anything but full stars.

LOL!!!! you can still rate the half stars and put the picture like you would on goodreads ;). Hey, have you set up your goodreads challenge for 2016 yet?

That’s what I’ll be doing most likely.
YES I HAVE! I put 60 books. Striving for more this year!

😀 great! I’m not sure what number to put in… I want to have more than 50 and less than 100… maybe 75… that seems like a good number, right?

Yeah, that’s the happy medium between the two 🙂 I would go for it!

I’ll try my best! I am actually contemplating really reviewing every single book I read this year. Not sure if I’ll stick to it in the end, but I definitely intend to.

If you do, good on you. I’m not sure I could do that myself (especially when a few of the books I’ll read might have been out for a couple of years already and have upwards of a couple hundred reviews already just on Amazon).

I’ve read and reviewed a couple of older books last year and it’s true that it might not be that interesting for people to read it. Then again, it’s less likely that you spoil people and the more who’ve read it, the more people can discuss.

AH YOU ARE READING A FRENCH COMIC BOOK?! Let’s speak French then!! :p Sorry for the all caps there, haha. And about writing 2015, well, I’m still stuck somewhere in 2011 sometimes when writing dates, so…no worries, haha :p
I’m planning on reading Seven Ways We Lie very soon, I hope you’re liking it so far! 😀

I think I should probably point out that while I do understand French in writing and when someone speaks a at a decent speed, I totally suck at talking and writing myself. I haven’t needed it for years now and I am totally rusty
I think Seven Ways We Lie is quite funny so far. A fast and easy read, but nothing that really blows you away either.

I have heard so many things about S. and I am really intimidated by that book. It just seems like it would take ages to read. It’s also the reason that I haven’t bought it for myself yet. I look forward to hearing what you think about that book! 😀

It is a little intimidating, which is why I am not really counting on finishing it this month. It will be a continued effort, whenever I have time 🙂 I’ll make sure to write a review afterwards.

I’m going to try to read S. this year, too! I got a copy on Book Outlet a while ago, but haven’t picked it up yet. And I’m so excited you decided to read Red Rising – it’s one of my favorites!

Yay! S. just looks SO stunning, but I think I will probably read it in between books, because I’m not sure you can just sit down and read it in a linear fashion.
I am so excited for Red Rising!

Red Rising has been on my TBR for the longest time but I’l still not quite sure about it. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts! I learn French and my teacher is always telling me to read French books or watch French movies but I’m not sure I would be able to keep up! Enjoy these books 🙂

I’m really excited for Red Rising 🙂 I’ll make sure to review it when I’m done.
I think comic books are the best when you are not sure about your language skills! They don’t have that much dialogue or description and of course the pictures help hahaha
