I am back to doing Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. This week it is about the Top Ten 2015 Releases I Meant To Get To But Didn’t and believe me, that was a little bit of a depressing list to write. There were so many good or even great books last year and I didn’t get to nearly as many as I hoped I would, even though I read a lot in my opinion. However, on the bright side, I ordered at least a few of the ones on my list and will read them soon – YAY! Let’s do this! (As always, this is more of a list than a ranking)
1. The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness
It’s coming in the mail today!!! I am so excited just to finally own the book, even though I have a ton of others to read first. I don’t even know when it’s in line to be read, but owning it is the first step to actually being able to read it. I cannot wait!
2. Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry
I’ve only read one book by Katie McGarry, but I absolutely loved that one! I meant to get a new one for a while now and seeing as this is a new series by her, I saw the right opportunity to finally order it. It’s supposed to arrive with The Rest of Us Just Live Here today as well and that concludes my ordering of books for the month. I was serious about my book buying budget. (GAH! IT JUST CAME WITH THE WRONG COVER AND NOW I AM FURIOUS!)
3. Illuminae by Amie Kaufman
There is so much buzz around this book! I’ve heard mostly good things and I am super intrigued now. I am not sure that I will get to it anytime soon, but I really do want to read it. Hopefully this year!
4. The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
This book should be right up my alley and there is really only one reason I haven’t bought the book yet. I don’t just like to binge-watch TV shows, I also like to binge-read book series. I just find it so much more satisfying when I don’t have to wait an entire year or more for a cliffhanger to be resolved and from what I’ve heard, this one has a huge cliffhanger.
5. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
I should probably read the Grisha books first … I mean, I guess it’s not necessary to read the others first, but they are in the same universe. There are just so many books to read … I really don’t know how to handle it all sometimes.
6. See Me by Nicholas Sparks
I am not sure this is really a must-read, especially since I wasn’t very impressed by The Choice, but I do feel like I just need to read it at some point. It’s most likely going to be made into a movie at some point, they are probably already thinking about casting.
7. Lock & Mori by Heather W. Petty
I sort of imagine this like a modern day Sherlock and Moriarty fanfiction and I absolutely love the idea of that. I’ve found that while I’ve always enjoyed Sherlock, I like him best when his story is set in the present. I was so excited when I first heard about the book and I really wanted to get it … but then I simply didn’t and I have no idea why. I think it’s currently only available as a hardcover at my bookstore, maybe that had something to do with it.
8. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
I love Rainbow Rowell! I love Fangirl! I have read all her books, except for this one. I was majorly excited when I first heard about the release and everybody had such positive reactions to it. But, and this sort of really bothered me, the cover doesn’t fit ANY of the editions I own. Why was there such a drastic change? Well, Cristina, lovely and crazy person that she is, sent me her copy so that I can finally read it, but wait for a new cover to buy it myself. SHE IS SO AWESOME! No one ever lent me their book from another country!
9. Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs
I may not be the biggest fan of the Miss Peregrine series, but I do want to know how it ends. It’s the last book in the series, so I definitely have to get it and get the conclusion I want so desperately.
10. More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera
Why have I still not read this? I don’t know. I juts didn’t have time I guess. But it is again one of those books where I almost exclusively heard only good things about, so I would like to read it sometime in the future.
So, that was it for this week. I really don’t have much of an excuse for a couple of these, but what can you do? Which books made it onto your TTT list? Leave a link in the comments below and I will gladly check it out!
The rose and the dagger is “almost” out, so you will be able to read the wrath and the dawn soon enough. Also, you have the same cover as me of the rest of us just lives here, though I don’t know when I’ll be able to get to it. You wanna know a funny thing? Carry on actually looks good besides fangirl – greenish and yellow – but carry on is the wrong size and doesn’t fit on the shelf next to the other rainbow Rowell’s books 😢

But who says there won’t be another major cliffhanger at the end of The Rose and the Dagger again? But I am way busy with books now anyway.
I was talking with Marie about doing a buddy read for The Rest of Us Just Live Here, but she doesn’t have the book yet, I think. Maybe we can read it all together?
Meh … I don’t know about Fangirl and Carry On. But I have a weird perception of colour …

The rose and the dagger is the last one, this is a duology 😉. Oh yes for a buddy read 😀. I just want you to read carry on, so I can fangirl more about it 😄

Ooooh! I thought it was a trilogy!!! Good to know though, because then I will actually get to rather soon I think.
Cool! We just have to ask Marie if she will be able to get the book or not.
I’ll read Carry On right after Zeroes. I have less than 150 pages left on that one!

😄 great. It’s ok if it’s not right away, my book stayed in Portugal, lol

My current order for my reading TBR is Zeroes, Carry On, Red Rising, S. and then I wanted to read either Nowhere but Here or The Rest of Us Just Live Here or Ten Thousand Skies Above, but not sure when any of those will happen …

Oh, I can work with that 😉

I don’t know. It’s kind of frustrating to have the books right in front of me, but not being able to read them. Also, we can’t forget about Did I Mention I Need You?

Oh, that we cant. Before march 1st

Yep! I’d say we definitely tackle it next month!

Sounds good. Though I don’t even know how I’m managing my the right now, but I am 😀

I am a little overwhelmed with my books as well. I read more in 2 weeks than I usually only barely manage in a month.

That’s good right? What’s been helping me is all the traveling, I get a lot done in planes

It’s not a bad thing, but I won’t be able to keep it up once I get a job hahaha BUT I would have a really long commute, so maybe I could still read a decent amount of books then.

Maybe even more…

I am not sure about that … but who knows 🙂

Thank you for including See Me. 😀 I am a Nicholas Sparks fan but I actually laugh while reading your words for it. (And yes, probably a movie is somehow on the works already!)
Bookmarking this now! 😀

Hahaha yeah, I have a weird relationship with Sparks books, but I find comfort in them being fairly similar a lot of the time. Thank you for stopping by!

Haha! Well, it is quite true. 🙂
It’s my pleasure Kat! 😀

omg. I see Carry On. Can I scream??? I need to get to it as well, it seems like everyone has, and they’re all raving about Baz and Simon. I have to see the fuss for myself XD I’m not sure about the Nicholas Sparks book, I never really had an appetite for any of his books, but I’m excited for the Wrath and the Dawn, because it’s not often I find a hyped YA book about my culture, so this should be interesting. ALSO. ILLUMINAE.
…can we face the fact that we have almost identical TBRs right now ahaha?

I was really lucky that my friend sent it, otherwise I would be pining for Carry On right now as well!
Nicholas Sparks is tricky and I have a weird relationship with his books. I don’t love them, but I do like reading them, because they are always sort of the same. I hope that makes sense …
Hahaha I am happy our TBRs are so similar! It’s like we have a real bookish-connection 🙂

I totally forgot about The Rest of Us Just Live Here– I definitely need to read that, too! Right now I’m in the middle of reading Illuminae, and it is SO GOOD. I highly recommend it! 🙂

YAY! I am always happy when several people tell me a book is good, it makes me hopeful that I’ll love it too, while at the same time I’m trying not to get too caught in the hype.

Illuminae, The Wrath and the Dawn, Six of Crows, Nowhere But Here and Carry On all live up to their hype!! I seriously enjoyed them all!! I never got around to read The Rest of Us Just Live Here either!! I’ve had it on my shelf since it like came out but yet still haven’t read it! I’m totally planning to this year though! Great list!! 🙂 I hope you get the time to read all these books and end up enjoying them all! 🙂

I am happy to hear that you liked those books! Carry On is the next book I will pick up and read 🙂
Thank you so much for stopping by and for your comment. Happy reading, Amy!

I liked The Wrath and the Dawn quite a bit, and absolutely loved Six of Crows. And regarding the latter: You could probably get away with reading it before the Grisha Trilogy. It takes place in the same fictional world, but its story wasn’t born out of the trilogy’s events, if you know what I mean.
I read all of the 2015 books I bought last year… but I really would have liked to have gotten my hands on George R.R. Martin’s A Knight in the Seven Kingdoms. It’s one of my priorities the next time I go book-shopping.

Yeah, that’s what I thought about Six of Crows. It’s kind of like A Court of Thorns and Roses being in the same universe but having nothing to do with the Throne of Glass series per se.
Good on you for reading all your 2015 books! That’s a great accomplishment. I am not that big on Martin myself, having struggled a bit with A Song of Ice and Fire, but I wish you happy reading nonetheless!

I want to read Carry On so badly but my order is one week late. I’m getting frustrated about it. Six of Crows is another one I really want to read but I don’t know if it will happen soon. And don’t even remember about See Me. I looked for the portuguese edition (to match my books) everywhere after Christmas and no one had it. It looks like a lot of portugueses got it as a christmas present XD

It sucks that your order is delayed! I hate it when that happens!
Hahaha Nicholas Sparks – the perfect present for women out there … at least that’s what a lot of people thought apparently.

It angers me because I wanted to read Carry On after Winter but I can’t. I’ll have to read it later.
Right. I think that if someone doesn’t know what to give to a woman it ends up buying a Nicholas Sparks book

I would be angry too …
I saw a lot of elderly ladies buying Sparks books. I think the repetitive nature of his stories is kind of comforting for some people who don’t want to deal with too much story.

I agree. If people want to keep reading something in their comfort zone his books are perfect. I knew when I kept reading his and Nora Roberts books because I didn’t want to get out of my comfort zone.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Exactly! It’s good they are writing so many books too hahaha

Especially Nora Roberts. I would never be able to read all the books that she released. Nicholas Sparks normally only releases one a year

True. I don’t know how some authors do it!

Me neither. I don’t write but I’m pretty sure it takes a long time to write one book. But I think that for her is easy because her books are normally pretty similar, like Nicholas Sparks books
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes, but even if she takes less time than it would take to write a completely original concept, a book has to go through so many stages. It is kind of impressive.

I know. I can’t understand how some authors can do it

YAY! Illuminae 🙂 Curious as to what you think of the Ness book. That’s supposedly his weakest one. My TTT.

I haven’t read any books of Ness so far, so I don’t really have anything to compare it to. But I will keep that in mind!

I want to read all of these, too! Well, except Six of Crows. I read that and it was amazing! I hope you get to read them all this year.

I am happy to hear it! Both, that you and I want to read the same books and that you enjoyed Six of Crows 🙂

The rest of us just live here. I’m definitely ordering that book, I can’t wait to read it !! I haven’t read Six of Crows either, and all the hype is kind of scaring me…well, maybe I’ll try it out anyway! More happy than not was on my 2015 TBR, too, but…oh, so many books, so little time… 😦
LikeLiked by 1 person
I hear you! As always the TBR is just growing and I can’t keep up with the reading hahaha and I know, we’ve had this discussion before!

I’m currently reading Six of Crows now (post Grisha) and I honestly think it does a bit of a better job explaining the world than the Grisha trilogy. I remember being so confused all the time reading the first one but Six of Crows seems to so a better job of not throwing you DIRECTLY into the world. I really want to read The Wrath and the Dawn too!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Interesting! But do you think it feels better at explaining because you already kind of know what it is trying to explain? I am interested in both series, but apparently it doesn’t matter which one I will turn to first hahaha

Ah that might be it too, but you could always try reading a few chapters of each and see how it goes!

No-Where But Here was AMAZING! I am not normally a big romance person, but it was just so good. It had me swooning! You should check it out this year! I have Six of Crows on my bookshelf to read, and I really need to get to it!

I am so looking forward to Katie McGarry’s book … too bad I now have to wait until the whole wrong-cover-business is set with my bookstore. It’s annoying.

Ugh cliffhangers are the bane of my existence, they keep me from reading books all the time because I don’t want to wait! I really want to read The Wrath and the Dawn too, luckily now I only have to wait a little longer for The Rose and the Dagger so that I can marathon. YAY for book mail! Enjoy 🙂 (Despite the wrong cover for NBH)

I had no idea that The Wrath and the Dawn was only a duology. For some reason I thought there were going to be three books, but that means I will most likely buy them both as soon as the second one is out!

I hope you enjoy Carry On, you seem really excited for it! It is a lovely story, like a contemporary mixed in with a fantasy.
The The Rest Of Us Just Live blurb is a little misleading which meant that a lot of people thought it felt flat, including myself.
And sorry to hear about the book mail cover problem! It happened with me with the Martian as well.

I am starting Carry On today 🙂 The first chapter was already hilarious!
I don’t have high expectations for The Rest of Us Just Live Here, so maybe I will love it despite everything.
I hate it when they mess up my order! It is so frustrating having to wait for an answer and sending it back and then having to wait again for the new book. Ugh … I hate this!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yeah the rest of the book is like that! Having low expectations will probably be the best thing to have with TRoUJLH.
Yeah it’s the most frustrating thing ever! Couldn’t be bothered to send it back and everything though. I have 0 patience.

They have now sent me a mail saying that they are giving me the book with the wrong cover for free and I can order the other one again if I like … what am I supposed to do with two books? I still want the pretty version though …

Hahahaha wow you wonder if they do this on purpose sometimes. I guess you can just give the extra copy away or to a charity shop.

I might do a giveaway for a follower-milestone or so and maybe there will be someone happy about the book no matter what the cover is hahaha

I just hate it when the cover that comes isn’t the same as the cover you ordered. I mean, then it won’t match after I’ve painstakingly searched up the cover that will! You definitely need to read Illuminae. It lived up to the hype for me 😀
LikeLiked by 1 person
I hate it too. I mean I ordered a specific one, so I also would like to get that. I hate having to sort this out and the bookshop sill hasn’t mailed me back, which is even more frustrating.
I can’t wait to read Illuminae, but there are so many books!!!
