It’s Top 5 Wednesday, a meme hosted by booktuber Lainey aka gingereadslainey for which you can join on the Goodreads page here. Today’s topic is Worst Love Interest, and I am assuming that this was meant for main love interest, but I can’t think of any pairing that I didn’t like in the end. So I am going with secondary love interests if that’s okay with you all. No objections? Cool, let’s get started!
Adam from the Shatter Me Series
I liked him in the first book, but then he became so possessive and angry and territorial. I can’t stand guys like that. Not everyone needs saving and he just couldn’t see that Juliette evolved and got more self-confident.
Aspen from the Selection Series
As if Aspen ever stood a chance!? It wasn’t like America had to decide between him and Maxon, it was never a question of the heart! She just wasn’t sure whether she wanted to be Princess …
Agatha from Carry On
I couldn’t stand Agatha for most of the book. I did briefly feel sorry for her, but only ever so briefly. (image source)
Rhiannon from Every Day
I actually came up with a primary love interest! BUYAAAH! Didn’t see that one coming, huh? I get why that girl was confused. I would have been too, but she was selfish and cold sometimes. I didn’t think she always deserved everything that A went through for her. But I could just be angry because the second book is in her POV instead of continuing A’s story …
Gale from the Hunger Games Series
So, he’s good looking? Yeah and what else? He was never a valid love interest! NEVER!!!
Conclusion, don’t give your secondary love interest a name that starts with an “A” or I’ll assume they won’t be the main ones. Just kidding! Think of Aaron Warner and all is well in the world of beginning-with-A-names! Who are some love interest you couldn’t stand? Tell me in the comments below!
I’m currently typing my answers and I wrote Peeta instead of Gale. Haha. *peace*

Hahaha that’s okay. Opinions differ sometimes hahaha I liked Peeta in the books though not so much in the movie.

I still have to write my post but I can already tell you that I’ll have at least two of these characters because they were the only two that came out to my mind on the past week while thinking about this topic XD

Hahaha it was super difficult! I’ll check it out in a bit 😉

True. I normally like all the love interests so it’s really difficult to think about people I don’t like

Same for me!

you came up with 5!!! yay! 😀 I agree totally with Adam and Gale and Agatha. I don’t know the other two 😉

Do you think you will ever read The Selection series or did we talk it down too much for you?
LikeLiked by 1 person
oh, I’ll definitly read it. I have the trilogy sitting next to Anna on the shelf. It will be the next series I tackle. :D, even knowing how frustrating America is, I need to see for myself, you know?

Makes sense! It’s a super quick read anyway! I read the 4 books in 3 days. Are you going to stop after The One?
LikeLiked by 1 person
for now, yes. because I only own the 3. and unless I love them, I don’t see it happening

Completely understandable. The story is kinda finished anyway.

yeah, and if the daughter is worse than the mother… oh well

America may have been a little annoying sometimes, but Eadlyn is just downright a bad person.

yeah, not exactly looking forward to that

Totally agree with your thoughts on Adam which is why I made him my number five as well! Haha Gale was kind of just there to be annoying. I didn’t understand how he felt towards Katniss and in the end he didn’t even want to be around her!

Gale was just there to disrupt the romance a bit and that was all. He was pretty useless in my opinion hahaha

Too true! That was the flimsiest love triangle ever, especially since she wanted neither at one point haha
LikeLiked by 1 person
Hahaha true! But the thing is, she didn’t NEED either one of them, so, that was a legit feeling.

I agree with you about Gale. Other than that though I can’t come up with anyone for this week’s topic hmmm. I don’t think I’ve read enough of the relevant books XD Oh, there’s Christian Grey, he reigns supreme as the worst love interest ever.

I found this week SO difficult. I am mostly on board with whatever they throw my way, at least in terms of endgame.

AGH I COULD NOT STAND ASPEN. Seriously, I had no patience for him after the first book. No patience at all. Good choices for this week’s topic!

Me neither! He was just a disturbance in the romance hahaha

Alex from American Horror Story: Hotel. In addition to always seeming kind of bored while on camera, she seemed more preoccupied with her immortal son than her own husband. And not in a healthy way, either.

Well, the task was to find bookish love interests 😛 I could have named quite a ton of TV ones.

Oh…besides Gale, I’m kind of drawing a blank.

I’ve yet to meet someone that actually likes Aspen 😂

Hahaha he really didn’t get to play a good part in that book …

Okay. I have no idea why, but I don’t especially like Mal from the Grisha trilogy. I don’t know WHY, though.

I still have to read that series
but from what I saw in the comments, you are not alone in that feeling. Sometimes you don’t need a why. 😉

I totally agree with Aspen and Gale because neither of them stood a chance!

I need to agree with your choices here, haha. Adam was THE worst. Aspen annoyed me SO, so much, haha. Gale is good looking, okay, but yes he was NEVER a valid love interest, at all.

Glad we agree once more! Sometimes I wonder why the secondary love interest is even there …

Just… to be there, I guess, to annoy us :p

I’m 100% with you on Gale, he never felt like a love interest at all always the friend. I don’t understand Team Gale people, my friends are Team Gale and i’m always like ‘no, he’s the protective best friend’ aha!

Right? I mean they did kiss once, but that just felt off … like they were trying to be something that they’re not.

OMG Yas!! Totally agree about Adam! I couldn’t stand that he didn’t see Juliette’s growth. He just wanted to drag her down. Not my jam!!! lol >.< #TeamWarnerForever ^.^
Oh, and I don't like Mal from Shadow and Bone either. I don't like the best friend becomes love interest trope when the best friend becomes jealous of the "new" love interest. I haven't finished the series but I wasn't a fan of him.
I love your posts so much!!! Seriously my fav like always! 😀

YAAAS! Adam was a terrible friend and not just boyfriend. Why would you want a person you care about to be small and frightened?
but you are not alone in saying that.
I still haven’t read that series
THANK YOU ❤

OMG I finished the last book last week and it was LIFE!!
And ugh, Adam…just no dude, just…walk away, grow a pair and step away…. .<

YES GALE. I never could see him as a love interest for Katniss. They just worked so well as friends! Also, Peeta was so sweet there was no competition!

Right? I loved book-Peeta so, so much! I never even saw Gale that way. Pff, just because he is described as handsome doesn’t mean he has a legit romantic claim to Katniss.
