Back to the Future Tag!

Getting Through Anxiety did something amazing last year and created an original tag, the Back to the Future Tag! This isn’t just for the bookworms out there and I love tags that are inspired by movies and shows. I have a feeling this is going to be very fun and I am going to try and find answers for all three – books, shows and movies! So, let’s do this!

Name a movie/book/show that makes you want to go back in time when you were younger and enjoy it all over again!

Book: The Thief Lord! Hands down, my favourite book along with the Inkheart series by Cornelia Funke, whom I adored back in the day!
Show: The Tribe! I was obsessed with that show and I didn’t even realise how dark it was. It’s a world where all adults have died from some mysterious virus and only teens and children survive. It’s crazy!
Movie: The Goonies! My love for that movie is still undying!

What’s your favorite sci-fi and or fantasy book/show/movie?

Book: Red Rising or The Martian – I can’t decide and you can’t make me choose either one. I love them both!
Show: Doctor Who! More than 50 years running and still going strong, you can’t argue with that!
Movie: I am not going to say the obvious thing here, Back to the Future, because I am not even sure it would be true. I am still in awe of Alicia Vikander in Ex_Machina and due to her recent Oscar win, that is my final answer!

What’s a moment in a book that takes place in the past or future that you’d like to visit?

I am sorry for being boring here, but I can’t really think of anything. There is probably some really great Jane Eyre adaptation or one of Auten’s novels that has an amazing moment that I would like to visit for a short time, but never for anything longer. Also, most futuristic scenes are very dystopian, I’d be scared of dying there. Who knows that all I might do wrong?

What’s a fictional store, cafe, etc. in a book/show/movie you’d like to visit?

I am going for TV shows only here, but: Luke’s Diner!!!! I WOULD LOVE TO GO THERE! And the Pie Hole from Pushing Daisies? McLaren’s from How I Met Your Mother anyone? Merlotte’s from True Blood (which is technically also a bookish diner)? The Crashdown Café from Roswell?

I just now realised that I didn’t have to pick restaurants, diners, pubs and cafés only, but those were the first ones that came to mind. Now I am hungry … maybe it wasn’t the best of ideas I’ve ever had.

Name an automobile or way of travel in a book/show/movie that you’d like to take for a ride. What book/show/movie is it from?

Book: Can I say Magnus Bane from TMI? Inventor of the portal that he is, I’d definitely like to try getting portaled somewhere someday.
Show: TARDIS! Always and forever the TARDIS! You can go anywhere in space and time. ANYWHERE YOU LIKE! Even though the Doctor ends up in present day UK a lot, this is still a perfect premise.
Movie: Do any of you remember The Adjustment Bureau? I adored that movie. So, if you turn the door knob in a different direction and wear a special hat, you could basically end up anywhere else. I love that idea! Made me wear hats all the while we were in Berlin.

Favorite fictional scientist?

Theo has totally stolen my heart in the Firebird series lately. So, even if he isn’t a main character and maybe not even the most brilliant scientist in the series, I still choose him!

  3. I’m pretty sure there’s actually a bakery in LA called The Pie Hole. I haven’t actually watched Pushing Daisies, so I wouldn’t know if it’s set in LA or not, but it’s worth checking on.

  4. Oh my the Goonies certainly brings me back even though I didn’t watch it until college I think. I absolutely love that movie! I have got to watch Ex Machina. I checked it out from the library cuz I love Alicia Vikander. Now just to find the time.
