I was one busy bookworm this month and have reached my new personal best of 9 books in one month – YAY!
- Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs (2.5 stars)
Sorry, but there is no full review for this one. Let’s just say that I am glad I am done with this series. - Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare (5 stars)
Read with Cátia and Cristina Splintered, Unhinged and Ensnared by A.G. Howard
Next month for sure!- Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry (4.5 stars)
- Anything You Want by Geoff Herbach (5 stars)
Read with Cristina and Sara
Books that weren’t on my TBR:
- Tone Deaf by Olivia Rivers (4.5/5 stars)
- With Malice by Eileen Cook (4/5 stars)
- In the Hope of Memories by Olivia Rivers (5/5 stars)
- Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson (4/5 stars)
Read with Marie - Thanks for the Trouble by Tommy Wallach (3/5 stars)
As always, click on the titles above to get to the reviews (or on the name of the people I read the books with, to get to their reviews if they are up yet) and on the covers to be redirected to Goodreads!
There is not really all that much to say about this month. Work has been work. Reading has been reading (although it went quite splendidly). The only thing out of the ordinary was that I went to my second concert of the year – Florence and the Machine! It was a weird, sort of religious experience. Florence never fails to give a great performance!
Another little highlight of mine was that I’ve written more than 500 posts now – wohooo! I think that’s an accomplishment that deserves a bit of recognition as well.

How was your month? Did you do something exciting? How are you faring with your reading?
Besides the holiday with a weird diet, I’ve had a pretty good month. It’s next month that I’m excited for, though: I’ll probably get my start date for my new job this coming month, and I’ll move into my new apartment soon after that. Things are looking up for me.

That’s awesome. I am happy to hear that things are going well on your end!

I finished my first mission with my new employer, and I survived, so that means it was a good month! As for reading, I stepped out of my comfort zone and was rewarded with great discoveries.
Here’s to May being a great month!

YAY YOU! For both, surviving the adulting life and stepping out of your comfort zone. It’s so important to do that sometimes.

I literally didn’t get past the first book in the Library of Souls series … The film looks better, though 🙂

I can see why … that series is just dreadful …

I’m hoping Tim Burton vamps it up a bit!! 😀

It sure looks that way 😉

OMG you gave LoS 2.5 stars!! This does not make me excited to even begin Hollow City 😁 I’ve had the hardest time picking up the series again after the first was a little underwhelming

I am sorry to say that I am just not a fan of that series. It is incredibly dull sometimes … but maybe you’ll like it better. Who knows?

I highly doubt it ): the first book was just “okay” for me and I’m trying to convince myself to read the rest. Ah i don’t know, maybe it’s just too hyped up

😦 could be! I just hope the movie will turn out better!

Yes, but it’s crazy. I thought I read a lot last year and put my goal at 50 books then, now I targeted 60 for this year and have half of the books in not even half the year
my money is going to go down the drain …

Well, but…it’s money well-spend…it’s books…to live a thousand lives, right? 😛

You seem to have an amazing month, so CONGRATS! (especially with that 500 posts. Just wow!) You are seriously awesome. And you should totally read Splintered series. It’s so so good ❤ Can't wait to hear your thoughts on that! 😀

YASSS FOR NINE BOOKS! And almost all of them were 4 and 5 stars (let’s not talk about Library of Souls hahaha)!
I really need to read a Morgan Matson book- any would be fine as all of them seem to have fantastic reviews! She has another one coming out soon I think in…May??? (My memory is terrible) called the Unexpected Everything which looks like fun!
I dabble sometimes in some Florence and the Machine music and she seems like the artist who’s concert would be an experience to say the least!
Glad you had a great April!

Yep, The Unexpected Everything is already pre-ordered and on it’s way to me 😀 All of Matson’s books are great. If you want one about romance read Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour, for friendship I suggest Since You’ve Been Gone and for family Second Chance Summer. All of them have an underlying theme of loss, but they are sweet and fun nonetheless.

I would kill to be at a Florence and the Machine concert! Their songs are just so good and the live performances I’ve seen online are amazing. I so need to read Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children before the movie comes out. But I don’t know… do you think it’s worth to read it?

Florence was amazing! If you ever do get the chance, try and see her. Her energy is crazy!
Well … I am not a fan of the book series, so I don’t know. They films seem VERY different from the books though … I am not sure, you will probably have to decide for yourself on that one. Many people love it, but just as many think it’s terribly boring.

Well done at reading 9 books! I read 22 this month, but I didn’t complete the progress I wanted to complete in some of the books that I am in the middle of reading.

Yeah I agree- it got me feeling the right things and it struck the right chords, but it’s obviously not perfect

Your comment on Library of Souls made me laugh. I’m glad I decided not to continue that series. You got a lot done this month though!

That series was a waste of time on my end. I get that some people love it, but I am not one of them …

Yeah, I really didn’t like the first book. I own the second one because I got it for my birthday but I think I’ll give it away. I’m looking forward to the movie though, I think it could be really cool.

Yeah, the movie already looks different from the books, so I am hopeful.

I managed 2 1/2 books, which is a lot for me. The most exciting was definitely Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahuniuk. My review is here: https://abbiosbiston.com/2016/04/26/book-reviewinvisible-monsters-by-chuck-palahniuk/
