Trailers You Might Have Missed … (May 9-15)

Most weeks these posts are very movie-heavy, but it’s that time of the year where a ton of shows get cancelled (you’ll be missed Undateable) and other new ones get introduced. Prepare for some very short teasers to possible new shows as well as the usual movie trailers!

Assassin’s Creed

Many people have feared and dreaded this trailer. Game adaptations don’t always work so fine, but I actually like this one. I guess the music is highly debatable and I’ve never played the game, but I think look-vise it seems legit. Any gamers who want to give us their input?

I thought this actually looked like an interesting and funny sort of teen- or at least younger-ish audience movie. Then it totally turned dark and dangerous. I still want to watch it though.

The Accountant

Uhm, not a fan of Ben Affleck, so that sort of puts me off. Also, I am not sure how well he will mix with Anna Kendrick. But I bet this could somehow make an interesting Thriller if you are into it.

Awe, Logan Lerman is seeming more grown up with each new film I see, even though I doubt that this is my cup of tea.

Hell or High Water

In the beginning I was like “meh, even with Chris Pine I am not sure” but the second half kind of made me want to see it. That’s some real sibling-love.

Into the Forest

This is not my kind of movie, because it creeps me out. But I do believe that this one has great and subtle cinematography.

TV Shows

Time After Time (ABC)

I am intrigued to be honest. Time travel shows are always interesting!

Still Star-Crossed (ABC)

An eternal curse on the families of Romeo and Juliet because of what they have done? I like it!

Notorious (ABC)

I don’t actually know what this is about, but the colours and the fact that Piper Perabo is in it kind of reminds me of Covert Affairs. Guess that’s definitely not it.

Conviction (ABC)

ABC must really like Hayley Atwell. I am not super into law dramas (which I am guessing this one is) but I will check it out nonetheless.

Imaginary Mary (ABC)

This already looks super awkward and kind of hilarious. Her imaginary friend reminds me of the worry eaters though.

Speechless (ABC)

Well, that left me a little speechless.

Dark Matter & Killjoys Season 2 (Syfy)

I LOVE BOTH THOSE SHOWS SO MUCH! *fangirling over*

So, that was a lot for one day. What are you going to watch? What are you going to pass up?

  1. Oooh, I love law dramas. It reminds of my of my days in Law school. I’ll check out Conviction. I’m not a fan of Ben Affleck either, but I liked the trailer, so I might give it a try.
Thanks for those posts, I never think of checking trailers, so I miss a lot of things I could enjoy. Well, missed, cos now you’re here πŸ˜€

      • I was forced to drop out of Law school when I was diagnosed with a disease that required a lot of time off. Then I did not enroll again because it was too nerve-wracking. My second best choice was an English and Japanese degree, and I’m hoping to drop Japanese next year to focus solely on English.

      • Oh, I am so sorry to hear that, but thanks for explaining it to me. English is such a beautiful language. I know virtually nothing about Japanese. Only that yuki means snow hahaha

      • I fell in love with English 10 years ago and it’s been a wonderful journey. Although at the moment I’m stuck at the advanced level, and I can’t seem to make any improvement. But it’s part of the game. Haha, I did not know much more when I started. Then I went into killer mode and learnt enough to be sent to study at a university in Kyoto. I stopped studying when I came back from Japan so I have lost most of my Japanese now. My dog is called YΓ»ki, which means courage. I did not known Yuki and YΓ»ki were also names. I was so embarrassed every time I met someone named like this, haha.

      • That’s so cool!!! And I totally get that you lost a bit of the language. Despite what people say, it’s not like riding a bike. I used to be able to speak quite some French back in the day, even worked in a hotel in the Provence for a couple of months but it’s basically all gone now.
Hahaha I had a friend who’s name was Yuki and she told me that despite the word meaning snow, her name did not mean snow. I was so confused. But I was also 15, so I was allowed not to understand.

      • I’d love for language learning to be as easy as riding a bike. That would save me hours of study! Haha, don’t worry, I’ve studied it and reached a pretty good level, but there are a thousand things I never understood. Everything is so complicated with Japanese! The same work can mean so many different things, depending on the accent, or the way it’s used or the alignment of the planets πŸ˜‚

  2. I saw the trailer for Nerve and it just reminded me about the book it’s being adapted from! I had heard the book’s movie rights were sold a while ago, but I totally forgot. It looks really entertaining, and I quite like the darkness of it. It reminds me of how Spring Breakers was promoted when that was coming out (although I’ve never seen the movie). It’ll definitely be something I keep an eye on, and maybe read the book!

  3. Logan Lerman ❀ He's such a talented actor and thankfully the majority of his epic film can make you forget about the disaster that was Percy Jackson haha. I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't see the appeal in Ben Affleck.
I'm actually pretty excited about Assassin's Creed. I've not played the game but I've watched my brother play it and it looks quite adventurous and kind of dark at times. I'm definitely going to be giving the film a chance. πŸ˜€

  4. Still Star Crossed and Time After Time look both like they can be great! I’ll try to keep them in mind when the first episodes are out so I can see if I watch them or not πŸ˜€
