Trailers You Might Have Missed … (June 13-19)

It’s Sunday and we all know what that means – TRAILER TIME! Let’s see what I found and because I once more wasn’t very successful in the TV department, I am just going to show you some music for movies instead! Let’s do this!

SO CUTE! “This tiny thing is now a wolf everybody!”

THAT PIG (or whatever it is) IS SO ADORABLE! NEED. TO. SEE!

Pete’s Dragon

I remember watching a way more kid-like version of this when I was younger now! I totally didn’t realise that when the first teaser came out. I think I liked my film better, but I will maybe still watch this.

Closet Monster

I have to stay this looks like a powerful coming of age piece!

This seems really intense. I had no idea there was a case like this, but I was all of 1 year old when that happened. Still, people in denial can be the worst.

Hmmm … usually I like sports movies … but this just looks a bit ridiculous.

Outlaws and Angels

I guess that’s what today’s Westerns look like … doesn’t seem like my thing, but Chad Michael Murray might persuade me.

Hozier – Better Love (The Legend of Tarzan)

Twenty One Pilots – Heathens (Suicide Squad)

What are you going to watch? What are you excited for?

  1. Undrafted looks bad. I still want to watch it because it has Tyler Hoechlin and Aaron Tveit.
That pig is one of the most adorable things ever. He might become my new Pascal or my new Sven and I love both of them 😛

  2. I saw Deborah Lipstadt speak in-person during my first year in college. She spoke to a packed room at the local Jewish student organization, She said that, according to British law, it was up to David Iriving to prove that she had intentionally maligned him, so the burden wasn’t so terrible on her as it might have been in American court, where the exact opposite is how these cases work. She also knew that if she brought Holocaust survivors on board as witnesses (and plenty volunteered to do so), Irving’s lawyers would attack them as liars and conspirators, so she instead brought on historians (to the anger of many Holocaust survivors) who attacked Irving’s methods of gathering research and the premise of one of his works, which basically boiled down to that Hitler didn’t know about the Holocaust and that he may have actually tried to save the Jews (BS!).
I’m looking forward to this film, now that I know about it. I expect it might become a teaching tool in schools and in Jewish advocacy groups, fighting against an insidious movement that has gained new life from anti-Israel groups and the like. Thanks for telling me about this film.

    • Wow, that must have been one powerful encounter! And of course I agree, everyone who is denying that the Holocaust happened or that people didn’t know is just talking BS. I was at Mauthausen, a camp in Lower Austria, and we got a tour around and we asked. “But what about the neighbors?” and the guide said “Well, obviously they saw it. Some of them tried to help and landed in the camp themselves, after that people ignored it and when they were asked they said they didn’t notice anything.” It was heartbreaking to hear.

      • Yeah, it is horrible. Hopefully though the denier movement (and all other movements that deny science or history, for that matter) will die out with barely a whisper.
BTW, I know you prefer fiction, but I highly recommend her book on the Holocaust denial phenomenon. It’s very good, and I think it’s also the book that caused the trial itself (though if I remember correctly, the passage that maligned Irving was just a small mention. I didn’t even remember him being mentioned until she spoke about him during her talk).

      • Thanks for the recommendation. I am not saying I’ll never read it, but it is unlikely I will pick it up any time soon. The topic itself is still difficult and I don’t like to spend too much time on it.

  3. Closet Monster looks amazing. I’ve never heard of it, so I’m glad to learn about it here!
And how good is that new Hozier song? I came across it a few days ago and I’ve listened to it numerous times already haha
