T5W: Books to Help You Out of a Slump

It’s time for Top 5 Wednesdays, a weekly meme created by gingerreadslainey and hosted by Sam @ThoughtsOnTomes. If you want to know more or join as well, just go to the Goodreads group by clicking here. I am sure you all know the dreaded feeling of a reading slump, when simply no book awakens your curiosity or gets your attention, even though you would LIKE to read. In my opinion, there’s no real cure for that lack of attention span or interest in books. It just passes after a while, like most things do. However, if I ever do try to combat it, I mostly go for fun or quick contemporary-esque type books. So, here are some of my recommendations for that!

Winter is a hard season for a lot of people and many of us are slumpy. Let’s talk about some books that are great for getting you out of a slump!

What are some of your go-to books when you try to defeat the reading slump? Tell me all about it!

  1. Aww I love PS I Like You and My Life Next Door so much, Kat! ❤ when I am in slump, my go to books would be contemporary as well. My favorites would be The Way to Game the Walk of Shame, I'll Meet You There, and To All the Boys I've Loved Before. I've read all three countless times hahaha

  2. When I’m in a slump I tend to re-read books I know I love. A lot of times I’ll read the harry potter books, I never read the whole thing, just a few chapters and it normally helps me out!

    • I do this exact same thing! I was feeling down and un-focused recently and decided to slowly re-read through the entire Harry Potter series. It always perks me up because it’s like comfort food for my mind and soul.

  3. Oh my gosh P.S. I Like You is so adorable!! All of Kasie West’s books are, honestly. ❤ I loved it so much. I've been meaning to pick up My Life Next Door and We Were Liars! I've heard so much about both of them. And A Monster Calls is SO GOOD. Lovely choices, Kat! 🙂

    • That was actually my first Kasie West book. I need to read more by her. And I ADORE My Life Next Door. It’s not your typical contemporary, because there’s a little twist, but a really great one! But it’s still so cute and has a great bookish family.
