Guess what didn’t go as planned at all? MY READING! I am blaming all of it on a general life slump. Up until the last week, I had troubles reading, writing and even watching TV – that is as serious as it gets!!!! But let’s see what I did get to.
Heartless byMarissa Meyer
First impressions about Heartless is that it makes me hungry very easily and that that the characters seem immature.Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry
It just didn’t happen.- A Million Worlds With You by Claudia Gray (3.5 stars)
I read this with Cátia and Marie! Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick
I wasn’t the only one in a slump, Cátia was affected as well.- The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco (3 stars)
What wasn’t on my list:
- Lock & Mori: Mind Games by Heather W. Petty (4 stars)
I still love this series very much, but I don’t see the point of reviewing the sequels. My dear Mori gets screwed over by everyone and it breaks my heart. - Road to Riverdale (4 stars)
This is a collection of comics that inspired the Riverdale TV show. It includes the first issue of Archie, Jughead, Betty & Veronica, Josie and the Pussycats and Reggie as well as some set photos in comparison with panels from the comics. This is for people who want to try if the comics are for them! - Ms. Marvel Vol. 2 (5 stars)
I fell in love with Lockjaw! I want one! (I would go bankrupt just thinking about how much food he needs) - Ms. Marvel Vol. 3 (5 stars)
I really liked this volume! It could have done with more Loki, because I thought that was really fun, but the overall theme of love and betrayal was my jam. - Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows (4 stars)
I wanted something with family-vibes and I definitely got this here. It’s a closed story (kind of), which I always appreciate and it turned out darker at times, but not too much.
Click on the titles to get redirected to the reviews and on the covers to get to the respective Goodreads pages! I am not reviewing all my books anymore, so if I haven’t posted a review on the blog, you can find a couple sentences below the title to hear my thoughts!
Well, well, February was a busy month. It started off with a bang – with me getting my own domain! Life and Other Disasters now has the url it deserves and I feel so vindicated as a blogger. It’s definitely not necessary to have a paid site, but it did make everything more real and let’s face it, my previous url wasn’t exactly representative of the blog title.
I signed up for a camera acting class, which will start in exactly one week from now. Tiny grade school me would be so excited, but the closer I get to the date, the more nervous I am. We already got a couple of monologues, from which we are supposed to pick one and prepare for our first class. I have absolutely no idea what I am supposed to do with that. They said newbies should find a character that is most like them, but that was difficult given the selection I had to work with. Also, it just doesn’t sound like a conversation but more like me reading text. This is going to be nerve-wrecking! So, if anyone has tips for the actual performance, bring them on! I know that prepping with people or in front of the mirror helps, but where do I even start with getting to know the character when I neither have context to the scene nor any information on the character??
In other excellent news, I managed to upload 2 new chapters for Arcadia! YAY ME! I am back in writing spirits and am loving all the feedback and messages!

How was your month? Tell me all about it!
Sometimes when you’re in a slump, graphic novels are the best thing for you. Would you recommend reading Road to Riverdale before or after watching the show? Or does it not really matter? For so long I’ve wanted to try and pursue acting, but I’m just such an introverted person I literally get shaky when I try and stand in front of a group of people and speak. I’m now so behind on Arcadia lol I need to read a chapter or two so I don’t forget everything. Even though you were in an overall slump in February, at least you got some writing done! That’s always good.

It doesn’t really matter at all if you watch the show or read the comics first. They are just inspired by it, but don’t share a storyline. Also, Road to Riverdale is really just an excerpt, so all stories in that comic book are still open, it’s just supposed to give you a taste and make you see if you like the style of the art work and the storytelling.
I am very introverted too, which is exactly why I am doing that acting course. I hope it will be the push out of my comfort zone that I need. 🙂
And yes, yes, you should definitely freshen up your memory of Arcadia 😉

Okay thanks for letting me know. I try and go out and do stuff to meet people but I always end up chickening out and not talking to anyone…

Oh nooo 😦 that’s too bad. I like talking to random people sometimes, but only in certain environments. Like, e.g. I always talk to the people who are in line with me at comic con, but I would never do that in a coffeeshop. I don’t know, specific events really help.

I’ve never been to comic con 😦 It’s probably because you know that the people in comic con has some of the same interests as you do, while if you’re talking to someone in a coffee shop your only guaranteed similarities is that you both like coffee. I might be going to a book festival this weekend so hopefully I will actually go and talk to people.

Yeah …. I don’t like coffee hahaha I only drink tea or frappees without coffee.
You should definitely try and strike up a conversation with someone who’s at the same table or looking at a book you know, or something like that. I am sure that will be so much fun!!

Yeah, book festivals are my best chance of actually making irl friends. And since lines are long there’s definitely time to chat with others.

Congrats on the grownup URL too 😀 We are so in, now, haha!! Wow, congrats and good luck for the class! It sounds awesome but a bit scary, although I’m sure you’ll do fine! 🙂
Now I’m off to read the last chapter of Arcadia :p xxx

It is VERY scary! I am lowkey freaking out about it every day it gets closer. But I need to get more confidence in myself before embarking on my journey to Canada, so I think it will help with that.
Hahaha I did that post just to remind you to read Arcadia hahaha

I’ve heard Heartless was food filled. Sometimes that’s good, sometimes that’s bad. Depends on if you have the yummy food already in your house to eat.

I really hope you’ll get out of this general reading slump and find your old rhythm again, but…well MARCH is here and with it, our buddy reading of ACOL so…there won’t be any slump there, I am sure of it haha 😀
I’m so happy you managed to write two chapters of Arcadia just as well, and thrilled to see your little book growing every day – or at least, every time you write a bit more. I’m always up for some writing sessions if you want to do it again sometimes 😀

I am sure I will. My mind is just so occupied with things I am supposed to do sometimes, that I can’t concentrate or something. But all the comics REALLY helped 🙂
I LOVE our writing sessions, they were a real life saver, so I am up for them whenever you want!!

Well then you know you should read more comics when you’re feeling in a slump then 😀
Well we always can on the weekends when you are free then :D. I so wish I took time to write on week day evenings, but…I guess it’s not where I’d be the most productive ahah.

I am only at page 24, I don’t know how I will ever get through that book …
Yeah, the month had it quite in it, but it’s good to be busy. Better than being bored out of my mind.

Omg your first impression of Heartless is literally me. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. The characters were less so… I mean, they were fine, but very immature. And yay for writing progress! I’m going to check out your book SOON I PROMISE. ❤ ❤ I want to read it so bad, that Pinterest board looks great aha.

I’ve given up on a lot of shows or at least decided to wait until the whole season is out. I just don’t have the energy for some of them right now.

Hmmm, yeah, I get where you are coming from, but most of the really weird stuff happened in the books, so I knew they were coming.
