Since I don’t really do TBRs anymore but hauls or collection notices instead, I feel there is much less pressure on me and I like it! I read quite a bit this month and it made me so happy to be more inspired and motivated about books again. So, check it out:
- The Wicked + The Divine: Vol. 1 (5 stars)
Set my eyes on this and loved it right away! - The Wicked + The Divine: Vol. 2 (5 stars)
Remained in love with the art! - The Wicked + The Divine: Vol. 3 (2 stars)
Massive disappointment. It felt like such a filler or like a novella to the real story. I didn’t mind the different artwork for most of the issues, except for one. It was terrible, I didn’t even want to look at it. - The Wicked + The Divine: Vol. 4 (4 stars)
Everything was good again. - We Are Okay by Nina LaCour (5 stars)
- Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde (5 stars)
- Vote Loki (2 stars)
The artwork wasn’t my thing and as you may have noticed by now, that makes out a huge part of my enjoyment for a book. - Ms. Marvel: Vol. 4 (3 stars)
The apocalyptic stuff was cool, but I didn’t much care for her team up with Parker. - Goodbye Days by Jeff Zentner (4.5 stars)
Read this with Cátia and Cristina. - A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab (5 stars)
Review for this might come soon, I read this with Marie and Fadwa.

Big news, folks! This has been in the stages of planning for a while now, but since things have gotten more concrete now, I thought it was time to share them now. Some of you already now this, but I will be going to Canada for a couple of months starting May 16. For now I am thinking I will stay the entire 6 months you can get with a regular tourist visa, but it still kind of depends on what the immigration officer tells me when I arrive (keep your fingers crossed for me!!!). I am starting out with two weeks in Toronto, will visit a friend in Montreal and then go to Vancouver by train, stopping at every place I fancy. I’ve been longing for an adventure like this for such a long time now, but it never stops feeling weird when people tell me I am “brave” for making that life choice. I don’t feel brave at all, I feel like this is the only logical thing I could do at my current age with the direction I was going in. Anyway, if you know cool places pretty much anywhere in Canada (which includes everything from bookstores, clubs, bars, pubs, restaurants, parks, bakeries, sights and whatever else you can think of) please let me know!
Also, last month I talked about starting a camera acting class. It’s been such an enlightening experience so far. My anxiety is really getting to me each week, making me feel nauseous like heck, but I get through it and I learn something new every time. Our acting coach is amazing and kind, always putting the feedback in a constructive way. Watching myself is still uncomfortable but to my utmost surprise, I don’t mind the camera that much while we are shooting our scenes. I am not saying that I am a good actress (although I was told that I am improving and I think I had a grin on my face for the rest of the week), that’s for other people to decide, but it’s fun and that’s really all I wanted from this experience.
Last but not least, I “only” wrote one new chapter for Arcadia, but I refuse to see that as a failure, because at least I wrote something. Also, it’s a really long chapter with a flashback? So, yay? Either way, let me know what you think about it! As always, you can read the whole thing here.

You had a great month Kat!
Canada sounds like it will be an amazing experience, will you be blogging during your journey or going on hiatus until you get back? 🙂
I can’t wait to see your adventures!

Thanks ❤ I do intend to blog while I am abroad, although it will most likely depend on my access to the internet.

Wow sooo many books I really want to read we are okay!

Yeah, most of them are comic books, so they are pretty quick to go through. We Are Okay was veeeery emotional.

Pretty good. Went by awfully fast. Got a bunch done, though.

That’s good! Time does just fly, which is why I thought I should mention the Canada thing in this post and not the April wrap-up. It feels like I will blink once and suddenly it will be mid-May.

That would be some time travel ability.

I am not sure I would want to have that power. Messing with time scares me, it never works out in anyone’s favour in the movies.

It barely works out for the Doctor, and he’s a Time Lord!

It seems like you had a great month. I’m glad to see that you enjoyed The Wicked + The Divine (we shall ignore vol. 3), that’s definitely a graphic novels series that I want to check out! 😀
And Canada sounds seriously exiting!! I’m sure that you’re going to have an amazing time! Exploring new places and traveling is always great! 🙂

Thanks! I did have a good month 🙂 reading that many graphic novels and comic books just really helped me getting back into reading. Somehow I was in a slump and this was just the solution I needed.
And I am sure Canada will be a lot of fun. Honestly, I am trying to expect as little as possible for now, to make sure it will be the best possible experience.

I loved ACOL! I wasn’t the biggest fan of the series when I started it, but this was really a great finale for me.

[…] This book haul won’t include the books I already mentioned in my wrap-up (which you can read here) because I just don’t see the point of mentioning them twice. Anyway, here’s some other […]

Wahhh glad to see you’ve had fun with the Wicked + Divine series this month! Also really happy to hear your development as an actress! Will we ever get a glimpse of what you can do on your blog? 😀 😀 AND CANADA!!! I’m sure your friend from Montreal will probably have plenty of places for you to check out, but downtown is probably the go-to place for most tourists when they come to Montreal! The Eaton Centre (mall) is the heart of all the shopping action. There’s a huge bookstore down there called Indigo that can be fun to check out! Hope your trip to Canada will be fun as hell!

It’s a real cringe-fest when I have to watch myself, so picking out anything I could possibly share would be torture hahaha but no, in all seriousness, everything we shoot is in German, so I wouldn’t really share it here anyway. But who knows what the future might hold? I could stumble upon an open casting call for an American TV show and try it? (highly unlikely)
You had my full attention at bookstore! I will definitely make sure to visit Eaton Centre then. I am sure I will have fun no matter what, even though I am starting to get excited now that everything is booked, even if it’s still a month away. Loads to be done until then …

CANADA YAYYYYYYYYYYY *celebrates with confetti and lots of virtual hugs* ❤ I live in Canada, but I've never been to Vancouver so I'm actually super jealous?? 😀 I've heard it's absolutely beautiful. Toronto is such a great city, my cousins live there and I've visited a fair amount of times! (As an Ottawa citizen, I am ever-so-slightly biased and think Ottawa is fabulous, but in terms of tourism, Toronto is a must! Montreal is super lovely too. Not just my Canadian bias speaking here, I promise! :P) Indigo/Chapters is our leading bookstore in Canada, I love it so much ahah so you should definitely check that out. ❤ And YAY Kat I'm so happy you're happy with your camera acting class, and so proud of how you're handling your anxiety, that must be so tough. YOU GOT THIS GIRL. ❤ ❤ Lovely post, Kat! Hope you enjoy your trip to Canada as well, in May!

I LOVE YOUR ENTHUSIASM!!! And I actually might or very likely stop by Ottawa on the way to Vancouver. I will really just stop in every city/town/village on the road I like hahaha I’ve calculated that it will take me probably 2-3 weeks to get anywhere … that’s just me!
Bookstores are so on my to-do-list while I am there, even if I promised myself I wouldn’t buy anything. I know .. I can hear the laughter of how ridiculous that statement is too ..
THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT ❤ ❤ ❤

Hahaha um, sure.. that's totally do-able… 😛

Well, I did my semester abroad in the US when I was 15. And I am from Europe and have been lucky enough to visit most of my neighboring or nearby countries, but Canada is something that has been on my mind for a while now. I haven’t been on a vacation in years, saved up all my money and will just really enjoy the heck out of this one hahaha
