It’s time for Top 5 Wednesdays, a weekly meme created by gingerreadslainey and hosted by Sam @ThoughtsOnTomes. If you want to know more or join as well, just go to the Goodreads group by clicking here. I always decide to do these topics very much at random, but this week is all about our favourite LGBTQ+ books, characters and authors. I didn’t 100% succeed in not repeating authors, but I tried my best, however, I want to add that there’s really a lot of Nina LaCour and David Levithan on my shelf, so choosing one book from them was torture.
What are some of your favourite LGBTQ+ books?
Ooh fun!! So many of these are on my tbr (though embarassingly I haven’t read any of these)- two of my favourites are Raven Boys and Carry On!! I just ship the relationships in those so much!!!

Queens of Geek and Simon Vs. are on my list, too. And I should have remembered to include Every Day, too. That’s such an interesting book.

I chose Every Day because I love how they talk about gender in that book so much. It gives you a lot to think about.

Yes, I absolutely loved that about the book, too. I mean, I loved the book in general, too.

LOVED Simon, have to read all of the others now ahah. I’m especially eager to get to reading more of Nina LaCour’s books, I really loved Everything Leads to You ❤

You already know that I would recommend You Know Me Well for more LaCour 😉

Not sure if I have favorites, but the Age of Misrule series and the Vampire Chronicles are very pro-LBGTQ+.

Haven’t heard of either one. Are they adult literature?

I guess, but I read them as a teen. The Age of Misrule is about the old Celtic gods returning to power in England, and the humans destined to help humanity weather the change.
The vampire Chronicles are the famous books by Anne Rice.

Oh okay, so I obviously heard of Anne Rice’s books, but I have never read any of them.

They’re very dark and psychological, more focused on character exploration than blood and that sort of thing.

I really don’t think I will be reading anything other than the books on my TBR this year though.

Six of Crows is such a fantastic book and I’m beyond happy to see in your list! I loved all the relationships in that book. I have heard nothing but amazing things about Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda and I really can’t wait to read it! Next time I’m in a contemporary mood I’ll be picking it up. Great list. 😀

Six of Crows really had it all and I will forever love Leigh Bardugo for that one. Simon was SO cute! I just bought Becky Albertalli’s next book. I hope I will like it just as much.
