Trailers You Might Have Missed … (May 14-20)

I know I haven’t posted as much as I used to lately, but two times a week is really the most I can do for now. I hope to be more active again once I have more time and even more importantly, am less exhausted. However, today I have prepared a HUGE post for you! I don’t think there are that many new movies (I wrote this before finding all the trailers and regret that now), but a lot of the fall line ups for TV were presented, so there’s going to be loads and loads of trailers for those. Bear with me, even if the post gets super long! Also, I might not show absolutely everything, just because there’s really a lot of new stuff out there. If you think I have missed something important, let me know in the comments!

Set It Up

Destination Wedding

Keanue Reeves and Winona Ryder in one movie, a romantic movie – count me in!!!

The Year of Spectacular Men

It’s the Zoey Deutch week.

Beautiful Boy

Sweet Timmy is still going strong.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout

I don’t think I have watched the last two movies in that franchise??

I am not mad at seeing Becky G in another movie, but I still just really want the Power Rangers sequel.

Bohemian Rhapsody

I am just in awe of Rami Malek’s transformation.

Shock and Awe

There’s more movies about the media coming out, it feels like to me.

Mile 22

Lust Stories

Anthology movies can really go both ways.

Bleeding Steel

I haven’t watched a Jackie Chan movie in yeeeears.

The Happytimes Murders

This is not my kind of weird.

Documentary of the week.

TV Shows

Charmed (Reboot)

Charmed was my everything when I was little and I was very dubious of this reboot, because I would have much preferred a next generation show. The trailer doesn’t actually look that bad though. And it seems like the oldest sister is already a mix between Paige and Prue and the youngest already has Phoebe’s empathetic powers instead of just premonition? I just miss whitelighters in this, cause the advisor doesn’t seem to be the same as a whitelighter …

Deadly Class

Who has read the comics and can give me more insight on how faithful it is? It looks badass to me!

Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists

Did not need this spin-off? But I do adore Sofia Carson … so I am torn.

All American

I am a simple girl. I will check out anything CW puts out there.

I love a good mystery.

The Passage

This actually reminds me of a show I watched a couple years back, although I don’t think it got renewed. I think it was called Believe? Anyway, would definitely check this out!

God Friended Me

There is an increase in religion related shows and I don’t know why? I mean … Kevin Probably Saves the World … Living Biblically … you get my drift?

New Amsterdam

Another probably not very accurate medical drama I will check out for 2-3 episodes and then forget all about it.

A Million Little Things

This already is way too heavy and sad.

Grand Hotel

It looks more like a CW than an ABC show to me, but we will see if it will survive on that network.

Happy Together

I hope this works out better for Amber than her last shows. I really like her.

I Feel Bad

I’d watch this.

Single Parents

I love Leighton Meester, but not sure …

Magnum P.I.

Serious question: did anyone ask for a reboot of this??

The Kids Are Alright

I know nostalgia TV is big these days, but I don’t care for this one.

The Fix

I just don’t watch crime drama anymore? It’s all the same to me.

Proven Innocent

I have the same feelings for legal dramas as I do for crime dramas? Same same … (and often they don’t last long?)

This is from Dick Wolf, the same guy who made SVU, Law & Order and all the Chicago franchise stuff.

Whiskey Cavalier

I guess Scott Foley still wanted to be a secret agent after Scandal?

The Rookie

As much as I like Nathan Fillion, I am not sure this is going to be for me.

Sense8 (Series Finale)

I am just going to sit here crying.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Season 4)

Kimmy is so ridiculous.

What are you watching? Are you excited for some of the new shows?

  1. YES more Zoey Deutch! 💓 I can’t wait to see Set It Up & The Year of Spectacular Men, and of course Beautiful Boy, because of Timmy (!!!).

I was really excited about the Charmed reboot as well, but it looks so much like a Hallmark production, and the actresses look like they’re acting. 🙈

    • I adore Zoey Deutch and Timmy, so I would watch pretty much anything with them.

I was actually NOT excited at all about the Charmed reboot and this looks better than I had feared haha so I feel like we have opposite reactions to that trailer. But since you were looking forward to it and I dreaded it, that might have something to do with that.

      • Same! And I think it’s so amazing that The Year of Spectacular Men is actually a family production (and her sister and mom are actually her sister and mom irl + her bf was her bf when they filmed this).

Haha I hope we’ll both end up enjoying it! And I agree that I miss the whitelighters in this reboot.

      • I knoooow! I am so excited to see them all on screen together.

And I hope so too! Whitelighters were such an essential part of the old world, I just worry that some of the structure and rules that raised the stakes will fall away without them.

      • Hahah fair enough. I can see why. Did you watch Avan’s show Ghost Wars? I feel like that one totally tanked …

Leo and Piper were goals and so real! They had their problems and it wasn’t just peachy, they had to compromise and work to make it work. I think that’s an amazing representation of a long term relationship.

  2. 1. I want a Power Rangers sequel too. But given that it didn’t do well enough at the box office or on DVD, and that the toys were the biggest selling point, I’m not hopeful. TT^TT
    2. Charmed: My mom and sister were/are huge fans of the original. I never got into it though, despite their best efforts. I watched a couple of episodes, and it reminded me of Buffy, but it just never clicked for me. And while this reboot looks cool, I probably won’t check it out. I don’t know, just not really feeling it.
    3. The Passage: I tried reading the book this is based on in high school, and got bored about halfway through. Given that it’s on Fox, they’ll be lucky to get past the second season, when the show will either get some studio interference of the wrong kind, or they’ll cancel it even when it’s insanely popular among a passionate fandom and set the Internet ablaze (they have a history).

    • 1. I don’t care. I still want a sequel and they did make up a story for 6-7 films, so i am not giving up hope yet.
      2. Yeah, it was either Buffy or Charmed back in the day and Charmed was on free TV and we didn’t have cable, so it was an easy choice. I LOVED that show with all my heart. I even have trading cards from it. I am not going to force you to watch it haha
      3. *not so subtle Lucifer references all over that comment*

  3. Boehmian Rhapsody looks AMAZING! I do hope it’ll be a nice portrayal of the dude and that the story will be compelling. Have you heard of the controversy about the movie not tackling the whole AIDS part of his life?

    Liked by 1 person

    • Oh, I heard there were some delays at some point, but I hadn’t heard of that part. Thanks for letting me know! I’d think that’d be a very important part about his life??

  4. I’m really nervous about the Charmed thing. I wasn’t entirely convinced by the trailer overall either and… I don’t know, I just miss the old show haha. I’ll still watch it because I’m veeeeeery curious about it, but I don’t know.
Single Parents… hm, why not? I really love Leighton as well and I’m glad to see her in a new show, so maybe I’ll give this one a try. There are SO many shows though hahaha. Thank you for sharing these, Kat! ❤

    • I don’t know. The trailer for Charmed calmed me down more than the messed up written blurb where they pretended that the original wasn’t feminist … anyway, it needs more whitelighters???
I just KNOW for a fact that I don’t stick with sitcoms for long, that’s why I doubt I will like Single Parents very much :/

      • I loved them so much in the original. They were the good guys, but also brought so much conflict and drama. Their mere existence and rules raised the stakes like 100 times and that new advisor dude they have does NOT seem like a whitelighter. I need whitelighters …

        Liked by 1 person

      • Yeah I thought he would be a whitelighter when I saw the trailer, but then… he doesn’t seem to be one?? So that’s strange. We need them, they feel like such a huge part of this world overall!

      • I am just so torn about this series, because the original cast isn’t really on board with the reboot either. It makes me sad and angry that they didn’t make a next generation or at least something in the universe that would allow for logical cameos.

  5. Set it up is my kind of movie too!! And I *love* the look of Destination Wedding!!! 😀 I’m nervously excited for Bohemian Rhapsody too. I’m not opposed to a remake of Charmed, but also not as excited by the trailer as I wanted to be. Deadly Class looks *awesome*!!! yeah I’m not convinced that Pretty Little Liars needed (another) spinoff. I’m really curious about manifest though (I also like a good mystery 😉 )

    • I am glad there are more romantic comedies coming our way again, because despite everyone claiming they are tired of them and that they are everywhere, they are actually super rare these days haha
I am just really suspicious of that Charmed reboot. Did you hear what the comments were by the producers before they released the trailer? They wanted to add a more feminist vibe to it. Like wtf??? Charmed was feminist and to take a low blow at them like that is not cool. Even the original cast says that they think the new cast is lovely and they are glad it provides jobs, but it’s always better to honor the original, rather than bad mouth it. And the least feminist thing is to say that the original women are too old now for a job they were doing 12 years ago. A lot of people just really would have preferred a same universe approach rather than their new take on it. At least it’s not set in the 70s in a commune like they originally planned.
Do people even still remember Ravenswood? It bombed so hard haha

      • Me too!!! Honestly I love rom coms and I was so disappointed when they were kind of driven out of the industry years ago (I don’t think that anyone but critics were actually all that sick of them, because most people I know still watched them and liked them). Erm WHAT?! Why do people keep doing this- why say it’s not feminist when it was? I don’t get it! (honestly, I’m just tired of people trampling over women’s former accomplishments to make some point or gain traction- ugh)
haha I did watch Ravenswood- such a waste of my time lol.

        Liked by 1 person

      • I feel the same way. Sometimes critics should just shut up and let us enjoy the things we want to enjoy.
I watched Ravenswood but stopped when it became clear that it wouldn’t be renewed and Caleb would just return to PLL. Such a disappointment …

  6. Oo so many new shows and movies coming out! Another Mission Impossible? I have never seen one but I feel like there’s so many now, does there need to be more? Tom Cruise Action Hero again blahh….

    Liked by 1 person

    • The first … three or so of Mission Impossible were okay, I suppose, but I am just not a huge Tom Cruise fan to begin with. I think this is either the 6th or 7th movie in the franchise and I just don’t even care anymore.

  7. I pressed send too soon ah!! Sorry, annoying hannah. Just wanted to comment on the Charmed reboot. I watched the trailer and its not as bad as I expected but definitely think i’ll be avoiding that one. The trailer put me off completely, I love the original but even if I didn’t it just felt like bad acting

    Liked by 1 person

    • Hahaha don’t worry! Happens to all of us at some point.
Charmed is really iffy for me. I am just mad that they completely disregarded the opinions of fans AND the original cast, who also isn’t entirely on board. It sucks … reboots are supposed to be for fans and this is not it.

  8. Hello there! Charmed was and still is my all time favorite show!!!! ❤ I still can't believe they are making a reboot. Last I had heard about a reboot was all of the charmed ones were okay with making a reboot with them in it but then everything got switched up. I saw the reboot trailer already and in my opinion it isn't anything like charmed except for the fact they are 3 witches. It seems to me they are just trying to take the fans of Charmed, they should have named it something else. Please be original people. Ugh.

I haven't decided if I am going to watch the reboot yet.

As far as The Perfectionist, I didn't even know it was out yet! I definitely have to give it a watch. Pretty Little Liars was one of my favorite shows!! #Spoby was the best!!

    • I will forever stand by the opinion that a Next Generation style show with the descendants would have been a better idea than this “reboot”. The fans are pissed, the original cast isn’t amused … I just think they are making a mistake. Having said that, I am still going to check it out.
