Don’t worry, this week’s post isn’t nearly as long as last week’s … at least I hope so. I haven’t actually checked out everything that was released yet, so let’s discover it all together!
Movies
Christopher Robin
It really seems to be the time of Winnie the Pooh revivals. But it looks cute?
Mowgli
I think this would have been cooler if it hadn’t been so close to the last Disney live action adaptation?
Papillion
Charlie Hunnam, Michael Socha and Rami Malek? Count me in!!
Wildlife
This has gotten such good reviews across all platforms. I am really intrigued about what Paul Dano’s directorial debut holds in store for us.
A Simple Favor
I just really want to read this before the movie comes out and I am not even usually a fan of thrillers.
Old Boys
Awe, it’s the guy from The End of the F***ing World!
Damsel
Mia Wasikowska is just always really cool in my opinion.
The Sisters Brothers
Personally not a big fan of Westerns but I know there’s definitely a market for it.
City of Lies
Aside from the fact that I am kind of over Johnny Depp, isn’t there a mini series on HBO about the same topic?
Too Old to Die Young
I know nothing after this trailer.
Upgrade
I just still thinks this looks like it was fun to film.
TV Shows
Take Two
I thought this reminded me of Castle and then … it was made by the same people who did Castle.
Reverie
I stand by the statement that I think this looks interesting even though it reminds me a lot of Falling Waters. We will see how it fares once it actually airs.
Star (Season 3)
I am so happy this got renewed.
Preacher (Season 3)
Hidden
The BBC does a lot of kidnapping stories it feels like.
What are you watching? Did anything catch your eye? Let’s talk!
I’m so excited to see more Rachel Bilson again & I can’t wait to see Wildlife – I’ve been wanting to read the book for an eternity, but I doubt I’ll ever get to it. :’) Thanks for reminding me of the movie, Kat. ❤

Rachel really has been off the radar for too long. I hope this works out for her.
And as for Wildlife, you never know haha maybe the book will fall into your hands and you’ll get to read it after all.

What is “Wildlife” actually about? I couldn’t figure it out from the trailer, it just looked like kind of a generic dysfunctional family drama.

It’s about a 14-year old who has to become an adult early on when his father loses his job and goes off to fight wildfires and his mother struggles to cope. I guess it is a dysfunctional family drama but I am not sure I would call it generic. This is a typical film fest and award kind of movie.

Well, the book’s really short; maybe I’ll read it and if I like it I’ll watch the movie. 🙂

Thoughts:
1. Christopher Robin: I feel like it reveals the whole plot in this one trailer. Never a good sign.
2. Mowgli: Yeah, it’s too soon after the Disney live-action remake.
3. Papillion: Seems intense.

I guess I can agree with all of those statements.

I can’t seem to find any enthusiasm for movies these days!

That’s okay. Sometimes there are phases like that? The week before this had some really nice rom coms though, maybe one of those would be fun?

aww Christopher Robin does looks so cute!! Yeah I get what you mean about Mowgli… but since I haven’t seen the Jungle Book live action yet it looks pretty awesome to me 😉 So over Johnny Depp too. Yeah I really do feel like the BBC does lots of kidnapping shows.

I didn’t actually watch the Jungle Book live action either, but I am just confused as to who makes the decisions about what gets a reboot and what doesn’t and how many in a certain span of years is too much, you know?

I still don’t know how to feel about Christopher Robin! Does it makes sense that live action Pooh looks both adorable and creepy all at once!? XD

I totally get it and from what I saw on YouTube and Twitter, the live action Pooh and so on creep out a lot of people.

Being the huge TV Nerd that I am, I am so very behind on most movies of the last few years, lol. Although, I did just watch the first episode of Reverie on NBC. I really liked it. And I really can’t wait for Rachel Bilson’s new show on ABC, Take Two. One of my favorite TV actresses! Can’t wait for new episodes of Preacher. One of my favorite summer shows. A big fan of Star, as well. Super behind on that show, though. Definitely plan on catching up on it over the summer.

I watched Reverie too and really liked it. I am curious where the season will go, but at the same time cautious whether NBC really intends to keep the show. Star got super intense this season! It’s definitely worth catching up with!

Oh, that’s definitely a good point about Reverie. The show’s first episode was so good, so why’d NBC wait till the summer to premiere it. Good point, I’ll probably end up loving the show only for the ratings to be bad because it’s the summer and then cancellation, lol. Well, hopefully that doesn’t happen if the rest of the season turns out to be good.
I saw the first five episodes of this last season of Star before I fell behind on the rest of the season. Definitely going to catch up over the summer. Based on what you’ve said I can’t wait to start watching it again. It’s definitely my next show to catch up on.
My favorite new shows of last summer were Claws and The Bold Type. Can’t wait for those premieres!

Yeah, I don’t want to sound all doom and gloom, but sometimes I really question the networks decision about their placement of shows.
I think everyone is waiting for The Bold Type. It was like THE show of last year.

Yeah, sometimes it feels that when the major networks put a show on over the summer that they might not have a lot of faith in the program. Unlike the cable outlets that might have a show start over the summer is like any other time of year. I agree with your thoughts on that.
Yes, another The Bold Type fan! I loved the first season so much. I actually saw the actress that plays Sutton in the musical Next to Normal years ago on Broadway. I love it when I see Broadway actors on tv. I am a huge theater nerd as well as a tv nerd, lol. So I love it when I see great theater actors represented on great tv shows. It’s my favorite combination of the two mediums.

I don’t know if we’ve talked about that already, but since you mentioned you like seeing Broadway actors on TV, do you watch Younger?

Do I watch Younger? Do I watch Younger? Um, Yes! It’s only like one of my absolute favorite shows ever! I love everything about it. Can’t wait for the premiere tomorrow night, plus it got renewed today for another season. So yeah!
Yeah, I saw Sutton Foster in, I think, every Broadway show she’s been in. Like I said Theater Nerd, lol.
Currently catching up on The Good Wife. That might be my favorite show that features Broadway performers. It’s like every episode there’s an actor from a show in it. Love it so!

Hahaha I guess I should have figured as much! I cannot wait for the new season. I am so happy it’s finally back and keeps getting renewed, because I could watch that show forever.

LoL. Yeah, if there is some kind of connection to Broadway in a television show, it’s most definitely a show I will be watching, lol.
I know, me too! It has simply been one of the best shows on television for the last few years. Making it yet another one of my favorite shows to watch.
Glad to see another fan of this amazingly awesome show!
