Blogiversary Q&A (Part 2)

So, just yesterday you got a little insight into the blogging and reading questions I got asked (which you can check out here if you missed it). This is part 2 of the Blogiversary Q&A I announced last week. Have fun reading this once again ridiculously long post!

TV AND FILM

First TV show you remember watching? (Savannah @The Book Prophet)

That’s a tough one. It was definitely something animated. Maybe “Der kleine Maulwurf”, which is just translated to The Mole and is a Czech TV program from the 80s and 90s?

List your favourite and least favourite characters from your Top 3 TV shows! (Savannah @The Book Prophet)

Narrowing it down to three shows feels like torture already, so I am going to give you some of my favourite shows, but the top 5-10 are always changing … so this isn’t fair at all.

Sense8 – my favourite is probably our drama queen Lito and my least favourite is Whispers (who can go straight to hell)

Wynonna Earp – my favourite is the badass title character Wynonna herself (although Waverly was SUCH a close call for that spot) and my least favourite is probably … Willa?

Timeless – Lucy is my favourite on the time team and my least favourite is Nicholas Keynes because that entitled prick thinks he can change the world to his bigoted and outdated image.

What TV moment left you the most disappointed? (The Orang-utan Librarian)

The How I Met Your Mother finale … let’s just forget that ever happened.

What was the best TV finale you’ve ever seen? (The Orang-utan Librarian)

Wow, that’s a really tough one. I like things that are neatly tied up but still with an option for possible comebacks, if that makes any sense? I quite liked the ending of Charmed and Dawson’s Creek. That’s not to say that those were the absolute best TV has to offer, but it’s my kind of finale.

You often talk about TV shows you love (and that’s incredible), but… is there any TV show you really can’t stand? (Marie @Drizzle and Hurricane Book)

This is a little difficult to answer, just because I don’t even think about shows that I might not like? If I think it’s not for me, I basically erase its existence from my brain. Sometimes friends can convince me to give something a try, other times I just ignore everyone and don’t watch it. It doesn’t mean the show is bad or that I can’t stand it. I personally didn’t enjoy Breaking Bad, so I didn’t even finish the first season and probably won’t return to it. That doesn’t mean it’s not a massive success that many people love or even that it isn’t good TV.

Kat, as the Queen of TV, recommend us some amazing shows! (Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much)

Easy: Sense8, Timeless, The Royals, Imposters, Wynonna Earp, The Good Place, Dynasty, Doctor Who, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, One Day at a Time … it’s probably best if you just browse through my #CurrentlyWatching posts haha

What TV show would you recommend to everyone? (Michelle @The Writing Hufflepuff)

I don’t believe that there is one show that fits all audiences, but if we are talking the readers on my blog, I’d say Younger! It’s about a 40-something woman who has to pretend to be in her twenties to make it in the publishing industry after she took off work for her family for too long. It’s so freaking brilliant and has already been confirmed for its 6th season. So, you get to binge quite a bit too!

If you HAD to choose one TV show to watch for the rest of your life, which one would you watch? (Michelle @The Writing Hufflepuff)

I know that back in the day I was so sure I’d say Doctor Who, but now … I don’t know. I don’t click with the newer episodes as much as I used to. I think I might go with Sense8 instead, just because it would always make me feel connected, emotional and still offer a ton of action.

A BIT OF EVERYTHING

If you could learn any three skills, and become a master at them in a month without much difficulty, which ones would you pick? (Rami @Rami Ungar the Writer)

Well, I’d love to be able to do EVERYTHING, but since I have to choose I want to be able to play the cello, learn how to surf and I’d like to design and tailor my own clothing.

When was the first moment you actually decided you wanted to become an artist? (Swinging on a Star)

Hmm … I don’t think it was an active decision. It’s always been a part of my life and I’ve been told that I was already very creative in kindergarten. So, I just indulge into that side of my personality more some times than others.

What is your opinion of a Korean band (namely BTS) becoming big in America? (Swinging on a Star)

I think it’s great! It broadens everyone’s horizon and gives an insight into Korean culture, as I tend to see people really digging deep into the background and lifestyle of the bands. I hope that the bands are also having fun while they are at it and just hope that the people who complain about their (poor) English understand that not everyone HAS to speak that language.

What is your favourite study subject? (Michael K)

Back in school I used to love English, Art and History, while at uni my favourite subject was usually Dramaturgy.

Do you have any other hobbies beside books & series/movies? (Michael K)

I’ve only just started showing some of my artwork on my blog, but drawing and painting has always been a hobby of mine. I also like to do yoga, but it’s been months since I’ve managed to go to class.

Favourite desserts? (Michael K) | What’s your favourite type of cake? (Marta @The Cursed Books)

My grandma’s red wine cake!

Which piece of artwork (that you created) are you the most proud of? (Sophie @Sophie’s Corner)

I really don’t mean to put my work down by the next statement, but I am not necessarily proud about any of the things I drew. I like them, in some cases I like them a lot, but there was nothing too extraordinary among it yet that would make me proud. However, I do love the way I captured Nico Mirallegro’s facial impression in this one:

What’s the most fun trip you’ve ever been on? (The Orang-utan Librarian)

ALL OF VANCOUVER!!! I cannot get over the amount of stars I met and sets I visited.

Would you do bookstagram? Why or why not? (Marie @Drizzle and Hurricane Book)

I don’t think so? I am just really not that great at taking pictures, light is always an issue and the quality of my photos is meh. Also, I like expressing myself more in words and I don’t like having to do everything on my phone.

One country you’d DREAM of visiting? One city in particular? (Marie @Drizzle and Hurricane Book)

I’ve always, always wanted to see Tibet.

You’re doing amazing art on your instagram, would you ever think about posting it/talking about it more on your blog as well? (Marie @Drizzle and Hurricane Book)

Sure. I don’t mind sharing my art on the blog as well, but counter question: how do you think I should incorporate it more? The only thing I can think of is a round up of what I drew for the monthly wrap up.

If you one day woke up and discovered you had superpowers what powers would you want and do you think you’d be a hero or a villain? (Beth @Reading Every Night)

I love this question so much! Many people have very intricate powers when they can wish for whatever they want, but all I will ever need as a superpower is teleportation (without restricting it to places that I have been to or seen before). And … I think I would be neither? I would keep it very much on the DL, but if I ever saw a kid hanging onto a balcony and in danger of falling, I’d obviously help. I just can’t see myself seeking out the dangerous situations and going out of my way to do heroic things .. maybe that is what makes me a villain though?

If your house were on fire and you could only save three things what would they be? (Beth @Reading Every Night)

I am guessing this is supposed to be answered in terms of sentimentality and not practicality? (cause then it’d be easy – wallet, phone and laptop) I think I’d save my High School yearbook from my exchange semester in the US. I have this wooden carved cassette that my grandpa made in which I store post cards and letters from friends, so that would obviously be saved. And lastly, the picture of my grandpa with me and my cousins.

Which fictional character would be the most boring to meet in real life? (can be from a movie, book, TV show, anything) (Andie @Andrea’s Nirvana)

It’s very hard to remember boring characters and I want to answer this question, but I honestly cannot even think of someone.

Do you have a dream art project? So something you’ve wanted to work on for a really long time now? (Michelle @The Writing Hufflepuff)

I would really, really love to draw the entire cast of Arcadia, but I don’t even know where to begin. And I’d also like for it to not just be separate portraits but one, huge image and I am afraid of ruining something if I keep adding to one paper. Hope that made sense.

Who’s your favourite Hogwarts Mystery character? (Michelle @The Writing Hufflepuff)

This is one of the best questions. I know it might sound silly, but I love Barnaby Lee. The boy really isn’t the brightest bulb in the bunch, but he is TOO PURE AND THE MOST PRECIOUS BEAN EVER! I also quite like Bill and Penny though.

What are your hopes for Arcadia? (Marta @The Cursed Books)

My biggest hope is that I get to finish it. That would already be a huge accomplishment and I would very much like for it to maybe get traditionally published one day. That’s really a long shot though. I’d just be happy if a ton of people read it on wattpad and talked to me about it.

This is the end of Part 2 and I really hoped you enjoyed to get to know me better over the past days. Again, if you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to drop them in the comments section!!

  1. Yay you answered my question. Cool answers. I gotta say, I feel the same way about the kpop things you said. And honestly, the Korean artists who speak bad English are so cute when they do it, it doesn’t matter. x)

I love the answer to the 3 skills questions. I also want to learn to surf and design my own clothes, but the most impossible-sounding one is surfing. It looks so hard!

You know whats weird? I’ve never seen any of the TV shows you mentioned.

    • Of course I answered them! I answered all the questions I got haha
Surfing DOES sound quite hard and I don’t even live near an ocean at the moment, so there really isn’t any real way for me to go and just learn that anyway. It will remain a dream. (and I am a scaredy cat, so no one actually thinks I would attempt to learn it anyway)

Please, please, please watch at least some of those shows!!!!!!

  2. Whoever asked you that K-Pop question made me happy haha – and your answer made me even happier. People are ALWAYS asking them to speak English and sometimes they look so annoyed. Like, they’re Korean. I get that you’d want them to speak English to understand what they’re saying without subtitles but it’s actually quite rude and disrespectful. I personally like it when they speak it on their own terms because it’s not forced. ANYWAY, love all of your answers!! Teleportation is definitely a power I’d want!! And invisibility!! Being able to sneak into places sounds like a lot of fun haha!

    • I was honestly surprised to get that K-Pop question, because I am not super into it or anything like that, but I am glad you approve of my answer. I think it’s ridiculous that anyone would expect people to learn a second language just because it would be more convenient for them. I can definitely see how it would be more free and also authentic to have them express themselves in their own tongue.
Invisibility is super neat too! Good choice!

      • There are a selection of K-idols that aren’t even Korean too so sometimes English is their THIRD language! A lot of K-Pop groups have at least one member that can speak relatively good English and most members have basic English skills (introduction, hello, etc.) but it’s still like you’re asking them to be something they’re not when you ask them to speak in English.

Oh and I forgot to comment this before but I also am still not over how many stars you saw and how many sets you visited in Vancouver!! I still find that INSANELY cool!

        Liked by 1 person

      • Absolutely! I know some French, but if you’d ask me to give an in depth interview, I’d rather be swallowed up by the Earth than keep talking. I hope those inconsiderate people will back off.
AH! Vancouver, home of my heart. Seriously not a day goes by that I do not miss it.

      • Oh gosh if I were asked to speak to someone in German I would probably die on the spot. Gosh this reminds me I haven’t been practicing!!

        Liked by 1 person

      • I think people weren’t complaining about them singing in Korean, but about their language skills during interviews and such. But I really don’t think anyone can judge them. They definitely don’t HAVE to learn it.

  3. See funny thing is when I asked the question about the fire and the three things I wasn’t thinking of either sentimentality or practicability (mainly because I know if I was in that situation I wouldn’t be able to think practically and I have a bad habit of leaving my phone places and forgetting about it so if there was a fire I’d be screwed trying to find it if I was thinking practically) but I loved your answer for that question and the superhero one too. I guess you could say it makes you more of an antihero than anything else, but I’d love to be able to teleport too. 😀
Great answers for the rest of these questions, and oh I really really need to start Sense8 at some point. Now the finale has been released I feel like I’ll be binge watching all the episodes in one go. 🙂 ❤

    Liked by 1 person

    • I think I’d be very practical should there be a real fire. I’d get all the necessary stuff right away. At least I’ve been told I am good in a crisis, but I think I can just pretend to be good in a crisis.
You should definitely give Sense8 a watch. It’s one of the best and most inclusive shows out there. I still think it ended before its time, but at least it got a proper send off.

  4. YAY part two is here, get ready for my endless comments again… oops.
I’m 200% with you on the How I Met Your Mother finale. I will forever be disappointed with that one, I wish it didn’t happened. Ugh.
I also loved the ending of Charmed and Dawson’s Creek (I’m all Pacey and Joey as well, so I was so very happy with that one haha).
Younger is just so great, I love this show so, so much. I watched the first episode of the new season the other day (and I MISS JOSH), need to watch the second one this weekeend, but I can’t waaaaaaaaait. I’m loving this show. Also we need to chat about it 😀
I really love that you said you don’t like doing everything on your phone. I feel weird for thinking that, but… I feel the same way?! I mean, we can do so much with our phones and it’s fantastic, but I just love having my laptop and do everything from there haha. 🙂
About incorporating art… to be honest, I didn’t really know when I asked the question haha, I was just wondering if you had ideas or projects to talk about it more, like maybe with specific posts on your art, or just… include your art in your TV Shows posts, too, that would be pretty awesome? OR IN YOURR REVIEWS?! Did you ever think about drawing bookish characters as well? Anyway, I still very much love seeing it in your wrap-ups and over on instagram! 🙂
AND YES TO DRAWING THE CAST OF ARCADIA I WANT THAT SO BADLY. Oops. Sorry. No pressure haha, I’d love to see it someday though 😀
Yeah, so… sorry. Guess I got carried away again with these questions……. 😛

    • In all honesty, I didn’t like the entire last season of HIMYM. It was just such a waste of time and could have been so much better.
YAS! Pacey and Joey all the way forever!!
Lucky you will get Josh back in the next episode of Younger. Be prepared to hug him tight. And don’t hesitate to DM me when you watch it and want to chat about it. You know I am always up for it!!
I think the most annoying thing on my phone is typing long articles or comments. Just nope … I will rather let something sit for days than do it on my phone. I know it’s cool that a phone can do so much, but it’s just not a real necessity.
I’ll try to figure out a way to get more of my art into my posts. I just don’t like doing book characters because I have no real reference material for how they look. With actors it’s easy. You just take a photo of them haha
I will draw the cast of Arcadia at some point, I just cannot say when exactly haha

      Liked by 1 person

      • Agree, that show went completely downhill in that season and it makes me so sad.
AHHH I can’t wait. I will probably watch it tonight or tomorrow and I will DM you right afterwards obviously 😛
AGREE – I just couldn’t do it, I’m much quicker and more at ease with my computer haha 😛
Oh okay, ,I get it. Well maybe from comics or graphic novels, then 😛
I WILL BE WAITING FOR IT KAT. 😛

        Liked by 1 person

      • Making animated characters into real life looking people is also super hard haha I just like having something as a proper reference for proportion and such. I know, I am very particular when it comes to drawing, but that’s how it works for me.

        Liked by 1 person

  5. Oh yeah the himym finale- so crap- I actually asked that question with that in mind but didn’t know if you’d seen it (or if you were one of those rare people that actually liked it) I think I watched the charmed finale, but it was so long ago, I don’t actually remember it! 😮 Awesome answers!!

  6. Hello Kat!
Loved reading your answers and learning more about you. That’s an amazing piece of artwork you shared here. I think you have a beautiful style and you should be proud of all of the pieces that you create 🙂 I would love to see more of your art on this blog!

    Liked by 1 person

      • I think including them in your wrap-up is a wonderful idea! I would also love to see drawings of your characters, although I know you mentioned you don’t really do them.
Also I forgot to mention that it’s great that you tell other people about your blog and even mentioning it in your interviews 🙂 I can see how blogging could be an asset especially if you are applying for a related job. In addition to that, being able to continue blogging for 5 years demonstrates self-motivation and discipline! I’ve been pretty shy when it comes to talking about my blog with people that I don’t know well (especially my coworkers, since I work in a field that has nothing to do with blogging haha) however I am slowly starting to open up now that my blog is getting more traffic 🙂

      • It’s the weirdest thing about my own characters. I am so scared of getting them wrong and my mum was like “they are YOURS. They live in your head! How can you get them wrong!?” and I know she has a point, but I am still worried haha they mean so much to me and I am afraid it just won’t do them justice.
I do a lot in marketing, PR and the film industry, so it makes sense not to hide my blog. I also applied to some publishing houses once and even though they weren’t able to employ me, they seemed intrigued by my application and the blog. I’d love to work in some kind of blogger outreach program for companies. That would be so much fun.
Yeah, just do it on your own time. I wasn’t telling everyone about it right away either and especially not strangers. Now, when people ask me what I do and while I am unemployed, I just tell them I am a blogger haha

        Liked by 1 person

      • I used to draw before so I kind of know what you mean 🙂 If you do ever change your mind about drawing your characters though, I’m sure there are many of us who would want to see them!
If you are in the marketing/PR field, it makes sense to spread the word about your blog. I think it is an asset to have a successful blog and it shows that you are tech-savvy 🙂 Sounds like it would be fun to work as a blogger! Hope that you will find a job that you will enjoy.
I might tell more people about my blog one day. We’ll see 🙂
