Trailers You Might Have Missed … (Sept 17-23)

My ingenious plan to post more during the past week obviously didn’t pan out. To be fair, most days after work, I was out and about trying to find an outfit to wear for this upcoming Monday. I am going to an award show and I did not pack for that kind of occasion. Anyhow, after a long and mostly frustrating search for the right outfit, I am now quite happy, but also needed my evenings to me to relax. This weekend was all about doing nothing! Still, I have found the time to look up some trailers for you. Here you go:

Movies

Captain Marvel

CHILLS! PURE CHILLS! Honestly, I am just so excited. It looks gorgeous and Brie seems like the perfect person for the role.

Mary Poppins Returns

To me, it feels like they took so much care with creating this movie. The vibe and the aesthetic is very much on brand, but somehow I doubt it can ever be as iconic as the original? But I am still going to watch and probably love it!

The New Romantic

If this isn’t my kind of movie, then I don’t even know? I am so glad RomComs are getting a revival.

If Beale Street Could Talk

This movie is going to be so beautifully sad.

Galveston

I love how they just randomly threw in one single shot of Lili Reinhart without any sort of context.

Beautiful Boy

I just keep thinking of how this is a real story and the son in the story actually published a couple not completely unknown YA books.

Stan & Ollie

I can definitely see this movie finding its audience.

Apostle

This is too dark and disturbing for me.

Shirkers

This is so confusing, but since it’s a documentary, it seems fascinating.

Ralph Breaks the Internet

It’s going to be so freaking adorable!

TV Shows

Doctor Who (Series 11)

I am happy for everyone who is excited for the new female Doctor, but that was the worst and most un-Doctor-like music choice ever.

Daredevil (Season 3)

I am SO looking forward to this, but at the same time I am super behind on the Netflix Marvel shows and I don’t really want to catch up on Luke and Iron Fist …

Station 19 (Season 2)

I haven’t watched S1, but it looks like the same amount of drama as on Greys.

Supernatural (Season 14)

Why does this look like Supernatural did a Peaky Blinders crossover?

What are you watching? Are you excited about any of these? Let’s chat!

  1. Mary Poppins Returns looks so good. Nothing can compare to the original, but if they can capture the spirit of the first film then I’ll be happy.

Captain Marvel looks so epic. I am so ready for this next wave of Marvel films.
Speaking of Marvel, Daredevil is basically the one that interests me the most out of all the Netflix shows. The Punisher and Jessica Jones are the ones that look remotely interesting beyond Daredevil.

I already know Beautiful Boy will crush me.

    • True, nothing will ever compare to the original Mary Poppins, but I like the route they went with this one.

I love Daredevil, although it took me some time to get into it. Adored the Punisher too, but they go hand in hand anyway. As for Jessica Jones, the first season was definitely better than the second one.

  2. Thoughts:
    1. Captain Marvel: Already on board. Can’t wait to see it.
    2. Mary Poppins Returns: This trailer made me watch the original, which I haven’t seen in probably twenty years, last night. I’ll probably watch the sequel when it hits DVD (with few exceptions, I don’t go see more family-friendly films in the theaters. Too many parents don’t teach their kids how to behave in a theater, the kids are talkative or noisy, and the experience is ruined for me).
    3. Apostle: I’m so in. I might even review it on my blog.
    4. Doctor Who: EEEEEEEEK!!! So excited!
    5. Daredevil: I still have to start on Iron Fist season 2! Hopefully I’ll do that this week.
    6. Supernatural: Can’t wait.

  3. I’m so incredibly excited about the new seasons of Doctor Who and Daredevil. The trailer for Captain Marvel looks great too! Also, I had no idea Supernatural was still on! I used to watch it years ago but sort of lost track with it after season 7.

  4. I’m seriously so confused by the music choice in that Doctor Who trailer. I’m all for changing things up, but this went a little too far for me? 😅 It felt so off and made it hard to concentrate on what was actually happening in the trailer haha. For some reason the Captain Marvel trailer didn’t do much for me? Still excited though!

    • RIGHT!? The music just wasn’t fitting for Doctor Who at all. I understand if they want to switch it up from Murray Gold (although I adore his score for the show) but come one!?
I am sad the Captain Marvel trailer didn’t do much for you. I got chills and goosebumps watching it. Even after the fifth time!

  5. AWAAAAAAAA SO MANY GOOD ONES THIS WEEK!!! Mary Poppins Returns and Ralph Breaks the Internet and CAPTAIN MARVEL. When I saw that finally FINALLY a Captain Marvel trailer had been released I nearly broke my computer trying to click the link haha. Thanks again for this series! It is one of my favorites 🙂
