Get to Know Ya – Book Tag!

I was initially planning on doing another book review before the end of the month, but … then I got busy and didn’t finish the book (what a week it has been!). So, instead of a review, I thought I’d do this tag that the lovely Marie and Nyx @Drizzle and Hurricane Books tagged me for! Without further ado, here we go:

Favorite Book of All Time

We just dive right in, don’t we? What a cruel question and how does one even choose? However, the purpose of this tag is to give an answer and I won’t be able to evade all of them, so I like to think of a book that comes to mind first or most often. Inkheart by Cornelia Funke is really a book that shaped me! I feel like that definitely is a contender for all time fave!

Favorite Book Five Years Ago

I … I didn’t have Goodreads 5 years ago, so how would I know!?!? Thinking about it, I DID have my blog five years ago though and one of the first posts I wrote was about The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I’ve been going on about that book ever since, so seems fair enough.

Favorite Duology/Trilogy/Series

I am kind of known for throwing the Red Rising saga at everyone, but I am very torn … I also have STRONG feelings for the Monsters of Verity duology and a classic – Six of Crows. Sorry, but I am going to be that kind of that person that evades a straight out answer on this one.

Last Book You Read

Since this is something I can actually look up – easy peasy – it was Juliet, Naked by Nick Hornby and it was quite the disappointing read. I still want to watch the movie though, so … yeah, that is typical me fashion. Read my full review on it here.

Last Book of Poetry I’ve Read

I am pretty certain that I haven’t read a poetry book this year, but the last one I did get my hands on was Love Her Wild by Atticus and I really, really enjoyed that one! I am not super big on those kinds of books, but I do enjoy them every now and then. Just please don’t ask me to review them, because I do not know how to do that.

What Book Most Influenced Your Life

I believe that Quiet by Susan Cain really opened up my world to non-fiction books as well as to a better understanding of my personal needs as an introvert. It wasn’t an attack on extroverts, but it simply showcased how different the groups function from each other. It really explained how traits like shyness and social awkwardness aren’t necessarily part of being an introvert (although they obviously can be), but it’s much more about where you get your energy from and that introverts need to recharge by themselves after social events.

Book That Made You Ugly Cry

Pff … I don’t know? I just lately revisted some of my favourite quotes of Call Me By Your Name and that always makes me cry. But it wasn’t really “ugly crying with a scrunched up face” but rather “beautiful silent tears rolling down your face” instead. So, here’s Elio doing the real crying instead:

Book That Made You Laugh

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before FOR SURE! I giggled my way through a lot of this book. (Also, YAY for the recent news that the movie is getting a sequel!!! I can’t wait to settle in for another cuteness overload.)

Character You’d Like to Be For a Day

I’d quite like to trade places with Juliet Ashton from The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. That woman is living the dream to be honest. She is an author, has found love in all the ways that count most and gets to live on a beautiful British island. What a life!

Book So Good You Dreamt About It

I dream A LOT! Many of you can confirm that whenever I share the weird stories my brain comes up with, but … I can’t recall a book being part of it.

Book You DNFed

I’d like to think that I don’t DNF books but rather just take a break from them. Does that count as an answer? It kind of has to …

What Book Are You Excited to Read

ALL the books! But I have especially kept an eye on Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan. It sounds right up my alley:

A girl who can speak to gods must save her people without destroying herself.

A prince in danger must decide who to trust.

A boy with a monstrous secret waits in the wings.

Together, they must assassinate the king and stop the war.

In a centuries-long war where beauty and brutality meet, their three paths entwine in a shadowy world of spilled blood and mysterious saints, where a forbidden romance threatens to tip the scales between dark and light

(blurb taken from Goodreads)

I TAG THEE

I tag whoever wants to take part in this tag! It’s a lot of fun, although it lets you face some really tough questions.

So, what did you think of my answers? Have you read any of the books I mentioned? Could you relate to the struggle to find an answer sometimes? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. I never got the chance to read InkHeart but I’ve always been curious!! Call Me By Your Name (both book and movie) have been on my list forever, I really need to get on it, even if it did make me silently cry too lol! This is such a cool tag! 😀

    • I read Inkheart when I was around 8 or 10, so I have no idea how it would compare now, but it always meant a lot to me. It’s the ultimate dream for bookworms in terms of what the story is about in my opinion.
I still haven’t watched Call Me By Your Name either, but that book! I am sure it will stay with me forever.

  2. This looks like such a fun tag! Those first couple of questions are way harsh though, all the books are my favorites. I’d love to be Julie Ashton for a day too, what a life. Also, I didn’t know To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before was really getting a sequel??? That’s so exciting!!! Lovely post, Kat 💕

    • It was really fun! Tough to answer at times, but still fun 🙂 You should totally do it if you feel like it!
Juliet Ashton is great, right!? And I am happy I was the one to break the news about the TATBILB sequel 😀

  3. Great article!

I’m actually currently reading To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before! I’ve only read about 81 pages so far, but so far it’s really good!

I am planning on at some point on reading Call Me By Your Name. I was hoping to read the book before watching the movie. But the movie was on demand, so I figured I watch that first. What an amazing film and definitely hope to read the book within the next year.

I’ve heard about The Night Circus. It seems interesting, yet another book that I want to read within the next year as well.

Have you been watching Midnight, Texas this season? How has it been this season? I remember we talked about that show awhile back. Hoping to start watching that series soon.

    • I hope you’ll continue to enjoy To All the Boys. I’ve binge-read it in one night haha I may have been a little easier to entertain while I was sleep deprived.

Oh yeah, I’ve watched everything Midnight, Texas so far. I am not too fond of the new character, Patience, because I don’t trust her one bit but I like where they are going!

  4. omg to this day I still cannot bring myself to read Call Me By Your Name, because I cannot handle sad love stories. look at that POOR SUNSHINE BOY??? i already need comforted just from seeing him sobbing in the GIF skdfj

also I just really love this tag so muchhh, I cannot believe it made you choose a favorite book immediately!!?? but now I need to go and Goodreads that book bc I love reading other peoples’ favorites ❤ ❤

also I finished The Night Circus last month and I'm still not over the magical setting I was transported to. even though the characters weren't the best thing in the entire world i was 10000% willing and prepared to join the circus XD XD

    • It is sad for real! But it is also extremely beautiful and raw. I don’t know but Call Me By Your Name captured me, flaws and all! I totally get it though.

I read Inkheart when I was around 8 or 10, so I have no idea if it would hold up to my current standards (way too afraid to reread it and destroy the illusion). But it’s a great book for bookworms! One of the main characters can read things and people out of books! It’s the dream gift, but also a curse and *sigh* I loved it!

  5. Yay I’m glad you did this tag and I could have predicted The Night Circus as an answer for sure haha. It is such a good book and I’m glad I finally read it! 🙂
To All The Boys made me smile a whole lot as well, I loved this book so much. I am SO excited about the movie having a sequel releasing, hopefully…. soon haha, I just cant wait ❤ ❤

  6. These are great answers for this tag Kat. The Night Circus is a favourite of mine (though a more recent favourite than five years ago!) and so is the Red Rising saga. I can’t wait for the release of Dark Age; it keeps being pushed back though and honestly it destroys my soul seeing how long I still have to wait to have it in my hands. There are so many books I’m excited to read, and I already have Wicked Saints on my TBR list but after reading that blurb I need to move it higher up.
Great post, and again great answers. 🙂 ❤

  7. haha that is just so cruel to jump right in like that. I adore Inkheart though- excellent choice!! And the night circus is awesome 😀 Ah I love red rising and the six of crows duology. I still need to read call me by your name (though I have the ebook now, so I have less of an excuse 😉 ) Ahh I so agree with you about Juliet- what a great character to pick 🙂 And to all the boys definitely made me laugh too. Love your answers and the tag!
