Trailers You Might Have Missed … (Jan 14-20)

It’s Sunday and you all know what that means – a new batch of trailers has arrived! I hope you all had a good week. I initially planned to post more on the blog, but then I just couldn’t find the time. Maybe next week!

Berlin, I Love You

I am not going to go into detail on how the movie should be called Berlin, ich liebe dich based on the previous movies being Paris, je t’aime and New York, I Love You … but whatever. I am also not going to comment on how I only saw two German actors in that whole thing, because … I like the look of it … a lot.

Spider-Man: Far From Home

I am sad by how underwhelmed I am by these trailers.

Red Joan

I love the casting and I actually think the subject matter looks interesting too.

Ghostbusters (2020)

Why are we doing this again?

Little Woods

It looks sad, but Tessa Thompson and Lily James in one movie – it’s as if someone made this specifically for me.

Five Feet Apart

They made another trailer or was the first one just a teaser? I can’t remember. Really glad the topic of CF is getting exposure, but I can’t see this becoming a huge commercial success. But we will see.

Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase

I feel like I am not the target audience for this.

The Hummingbird Project

Why would take away Alexander’s hair?

This could be right down my alley. It’s one of those lazy Sunday movies.

I Like Flynn

I would have never pegged this for a theater release.

THE GAME OF THRONES REFERENCE FROM FORMER DAARIO!!! (Otherwise the movie looks silly)

High Life

The creep factor on this is on a level I don’t know how to describe.

John Wick: Chapter 3

I know this franchise has a cult following, so I am not going to comment on it (couldn’t really anyway since I haven’t watched the previous ones).

High Flying Bird

I can’t really see myself being super into this topic, but it doesn’t look bad.

Documentary of the week.

TV Shows

Now Apocalypse

The so didn’t get the rights to call it Apocalypse Now and will forever confuse audiences now.

Space Force

Just the fact that someone made this into a show is hilarious in itself.

Dirty John

Guess Netflix bought the rights to another show with a very creepy man as the main focus.

Game of Thrones (Season 8)

This still isn’t actual footage from the episodes, but I am so here for Jon and Arya protecting MY queen. (The lone wolf dies but the pack survives – I have to keep believing that!)

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Season 4)

Kimmy Schmidt is one of those shows that I always watch, that has some really great gags, but in the end it doesn’t stick super strongly. So, what I am trying to say is, I am not really sad that this will be the final season.

What are you watching? Did anything in particular catch your eye? Let’s talk about!

  1. Great article! You have informed me about movies I had no idea were coming out, like Nancy Drew. I think the highlight for me this week in terms of movie trailers was definitely Spider-Man: Far From Home. Although I told myself that I was stepping away from the Marvel franchise after Avengers End Game, I would be lying if I said the Spider-man trailer did not excite me. John Wick 3 also has me very excited. The first two movies are brilliantly directed and choreographed, and I am intrigued to see how John’s story ends. Keep up the great work!

  2. Thoughts:
    1. Spider-Man: Far From Home: I sense a lot of disquiet in Peter. He will have to use this film to figure out himself and his relation to Spider-Man after dying. Also, can’t wait!
    2. Ghostbusters: Yeah, I’m wondering that too. But I’m excited. And I hope it can make a nod to 2016’s Ghostbusters, which is underrated IMHO.
    3. Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase: I focused mainly on the fact that this star’s the girl from IT, and that she’s dealing with what appears to be the supernatural in another small American town. I hope they make some sort of reference to that in the film! That being said, I think I’d watch this on DVD.
    4. High Life: I am SO in!
    5. Space Force: I think they’re just capitalizing on the crazy while it’s still relevant. Still, ha!

And as for what I’m watching these days, I just binged She-Ra for the third time (and it still holds up). I’ll try to finish up Elementary season 6 next, then I’ll watch A Series of Unfortunate Events season 3. After that…maybe Watership Down, maybe some anime, we’ll see what I’m in the mood for.
Assuming they haven’t released the trailer for Lucifer season 4 yet, of course. Because if that happens, I’ll binge the crap out of that show in preparation. It’s one of my favorites, after all!

I’m sorry, am I going on too long? I’ve been known to do that.

  3. Hi Kat.
    The Spidey movie looks good.
I liked the Toby Mcquire version of Spidey, and I like this version of Spidey, but I am still bummed that the second franchise did not take off. They did two movies with a young Brit as Spidey. I thought that both of his movies were really good. I hate that he did not get a chance to finish it out with a third flick.
    Happy Trails!

  4. Berlin I love you looks good. And yeah I think the trailer for spiderman far from home looks okay, but yeah I don’t think it measures upto the last few marvel films- still, probably going to be entertaining πŸ™‚ Obviously I’m most excited about GOT though πŸ˜‰

    • Oh yeah, I will gladly watch Far From Home in cinemas, but the trailer didn’t blow me away. Usually I get super excited about ALL Marvel things haha
I simply cannot wait for actual footage from the new GOT season. I need my Sansa fix.

  5. I’m reserving judgment on Far From Home, besides the fact that I love that Jake Gyllenhaal is Mysterio. I have literally no idea where the film will go, but I’ll give it a shot. I think it doesn’t help that Endgame will continuously be the biggest Marvel draw this year so it’s a tough act to follow.
Why did we ever need a Ghostbusters reboot?

    • I think I would have preferred for Spidey to not come to Europe. That’s just a personal preference though haha other than that, I am sure Far From Home will be super fun. I am just not very into the trailer.
We so didn’t need that Ghostbusters reboot. No one, literally no one, asked for it.

  6. I am SO very, very excited for John Wick!! I just really love the movie franchise and you need to watch the first two movies, they gooooood 😏

Five Feet Apart kinda reminds me of The Fault In Our Stars mixed with My Sister’s Keeper, I’m definitely planning on watching it and will probably cry. Another trailer that caught my eye and that seems quite interesting is The Hummingbird Project, I think it’s going to be really good! Oh and I really hope Alexander isn’t bald the whole movie, that would just be really weird…

    • I prefer Keanu Reeves in stuff like The Lake House hahaha

Five Feet Apart definitely has The Fault in Our Stars vibes, but they brought in an adviser who was suffering from CF, so I hope it’s a good representation of what life with the condition is like.
