As mentioned in my 6-year-blogiversary-post, I wanted to do another Q&A if there were enough questions to answer. I want to thank everyone who participated and even though I had hoped for a tiiiiny bit more to answer, I think this is still a fun little round up to do. I haven’t put them in categories or anything like that this time and will just answer them in the order I found them in the comments. Enjoy!
THE QUESTIONS (AND MY ANSWERS)
What’s the weirdest TV show or movie you’ve watched from beginning to end? (Rami @Rami Ungar the Writer)
I think one of the weirdest TV shows to date is still Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. It’s still hard for me to put into words what this show was about other than the fact that nothing in the universe is really a coincidence and that everything is connected. That show just got weirder with time and we were forever robbed because it ended so soon.
How did you get into movies/TV shows? And how do you stay on top of them? (Caro @Bookcheshirecat)
Hmmm … do you mean how my interest for it started or how I got to work in the industry? For the former, I can only say that I have always loved to watch TV and even in grade school, I made all my friends develop their own characters for my favourite shows so we could pretend we were part of it all (which they hated after a while). And as far as the industry and my job goes, we had career day at my school before graduation and this very new course of studies called “Film-, TV- and Media-Production” was introduced. I applied, got in and just networked my way into jobs from there. I had no prior work experience in the field, since my school was about tourism and economy.
Now, about the whole staying on top of things, I think I find out about most shows on YouTube or Twitter to begin with. Then I just try and watch whatever I can whenever I can, although it has become increasingly impossible to watch anything that’s not on at least one of the streaming services. Also, turns out, I prefer bingeing stuff instead of tormenting myself every week anew. It all comes down to whether you want to take the time to watch something or not though. When I go to bed, I have my laptop ready and watch something. When I can’t sleep and am up early, I squeeze in an episode of something before work. It’s not for everyone, but if there’s an extended period where I don’t watch anything, that’s a sign of something being very wrong with me. TV is my happy place.
What book character do you relate to most and why? (Kristin @Kristin Kraves Books)
I think that prize goes to Molly from the The Upside of Unrequited. I have expanded on the topic in my review, but it basically comes down to body type and having a million crushes that don’t mean anything at the same time. When I said that I would throw my hat into the ring if they ever made a movie about her, I was completely and 100% serious. I’d love to play that girl!
How many toes do you have? (Meggy @Chocolate’n’Waffles)
Just the standard 10.
If you could have chosen your name, what would you have picked? (Meggy @Chocolate’n’Waffles)
I am quite happy with my name, but I once did the How I See Myself as a Fictional Character Tag, where I created the fake persona Eden Rhodes and I love that name. I would totally make it my pseudonym or something should I become a writer and need a more easily pronounceable name.
Butterflies or birds? (Meggy @Chocolate’n’Waffles)
Butterflies are super pretty, but my first instinct was birds. (I guess it depends on the bird though)
Peanut butter or jam? (Meggy @Chocolate’n’Waffles)
Both? I guess if I had to eat them separately, I’d prefer jam, but I really like peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches and let’s face it … jelly in that case is basically jam?
What’s one book, and then one show, that you have a VIVID memory of adoring with all of your heart when you were younger? And do you think you’d still love them as much today? (Marie @Drizzle and Hurricane Books)
Book: Usually I say Inkheart for these kind of questions, but I was equally entranced by the book Momo. Both have shaped my young mind and I think I have held multiple book reports on them. Somehow I think that Momo probably held up better over time, but I am not sure I know why exactly. Either way, I would be scared to reread them just in case the magic isn’t all there anymore and it would ruin my mental pictures of the stories.
TV Show: Hands down, this goes to the Tribe. I was majorly obsessed with it around age 7 or so, which was way too young for that kind of show. I’ve also talked about it before, because it was about a virus killing all adults on the globe and only teens and kids surviving and now having to fend for themselves. I have watched it since and the nostalgia held up for the most part.
What are your top 3 tv shows/movies from this year so far? (Anna @My Bookish Dream)
Narrowing it down to 3 each was very difficult, but I have tried and come up with the following.
TV Shows: The Society, The Umbrella Academy, Russian Doll
Movies: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Someone Great, The Party’s Just Beginning
Which upcoming TV shows/movies are you most looking forward to? (Anna @My Bookish Dream)
This could go on forever, so I am trying to keep it to one each.
TV show: The Rook (although if we are talking about continuations of shows, it’s Veronica Mars, Stranger Things, GLOW, the Elite, etc.)
That’s it from my side – feel free to ask questions in the comments if there is something you always wanted to know from me! I will contact the person who has won the art giveaway separately and wish you a good rest of the day (if I don’t see you later on the Trailer post)!
