However, I really want to thank the orang-utan librarian regardless, because I love getting tagged (even if I am perpetually late) and their blog is absolutely top notch!

To start out, I want to say that I have never actually received a physical ARC. If we are taking eARCs into consideration as well though, there may have been 2-3 I didn’t end up reviewing. Look, I am not proud of it, but I didn’t enjoy them and didn’t even finish the books, which made me feel like I shouldn’t review them.

Aside from the fact that libraries aren’t my biggest friends in my country because they have none of the books I want, I think the last time I borrowed something was in elementary school. They would not have let it slide if I hadn’t returned that.

I know that I like my books way more pristine looking than the majority and if you want to have your book look well-read, that’s totally cool. But I want mine looking like they’re fresh off the press. And since a friend once had the contents of basically an entire pool dumped on a book she was borrowing from me and then tried to give it back to me like it was no big deal … I tend to avoid that stuff.

Me looking through this tag: OH. I guess I should step up my game.
But to be fair, my reading sucked overall this year, so even when I got an ARC I was super excited about, my reading slump made it almost impossible to actually read it. cries Kat, if you could see the state of some of my books. We could never lend each other books because we’re so different! Mine are almost all written in and most paperbacks have their spines looking quite worn. xD

Ahahaha I didn’t not review an ARC this year either, but I did a couple years back. But I would totally take a book from you haha I would return it in the exact condition you gave it to me, I am just not sure I could let go of my own. I don’t think it’s wrong when people write into their books or so, but I just don’t want it in mine. My room looks like a bookshop and I like it.

I’m the same I really like to have my books in pristine condition, I just find it so satisfactory that they look brand new. Plus if I decide to get rid of it, I like that they are in good condition so it is good for other people too. So I am all for never dog-earing pages or breaking the spines.
ooh… 100% on netgalley, I’ve never used netgalley but I’ve heard people comment on what their percent is and how hard it can be so 100% sounds impressive !!
Yes I am definitely guilty of breaking book buying ban, the books are just so tempting, haha !!

I completely agree! Sometimes, I like to gift my favourite books to others and I always find it nice when I can give them my copy, especially if I’ve grown out of it etc. There’s nothing wrong with wanting your books to look nice haha
I think I just don’t request as much as other people do. I’ve had access to the site for several years and read a total of 40 books from it. Others request like crazy and have hundreds of eARCs and that’s just not gonna work in their favour haha unless their speed readers, which all the props to them!

haha I hardcore relate to being late with tags! haha I understand being tempted by pretty books 😉 And skimming happens with school books. Ahh same about avoiding lending books! I’ve had bad experiences lending books too, so I don’t want to go through it again (although now I just say to people I don’t lend books unless I don’t want it back… in which case I’m just giving it to someone). And yeah I would never want someone to go through what I went through not getting a book back!! It’s horrible! (someone still has my copy of night circus… and they’ve had it for 5 years!! I can’t ask for it back anymore since they’ve moved and I also don’t want to have to buy a new edition sigh)

I feel this so much! I also just give away books when I don’t want them anymore and people ask to borrow them. And Night Circus is a real shame! Although, there’s some beautiful collectors editions out there, which I might just invest in should mine ever go missing.
