This week hasn’t been as busy on the blog, but I can promise you, I’m already working on the next reading experiment, some arcs and am considering reviewing “What if …?” when it airs. So, there’s still loads to come this summer. But for now, let’s check out the latest trailers!
Movies
Dune
It looks so epic!
Language Lessons
This movie looks like something I’d love. (I was also a huge fan of Safety not Guaranteed)
The Last Duel
Such an odd mix for the cast.
Vacation Friends
This is … a lot.
Official Competition
Whenever Penélope Cruz and Antonio Banderas get to speak Spanish, it’s usually good.
American Sausage Standoff
So, that’s what Homelander is doing in his spare time?
Override
Eh … I don’t know. It’s like Truman Show meets Ex_Machina but with barely any budget?
Lamb
It looks so creepy and it’s not even a horror movie.
John and the Hole
I heard about this on the festival circuit, but it creeps me out too much.
TV Shows
La Brea
I’m intrigued but I also have exactly zero trust in networks to renew the shows I like *cough* Debris *cough*
Ordinary Joe
Again, I like the concept, but I don’t know how long they’ll run with it. It’s going to be especially tricky to balance the multiple paths and not make one out to be the “true path”.
Nine Perfect Strangers
We’ve mentioned this one before.
Brand New Cherry Flavor
Could be fun?
Clickbait
I think this is a mini-series.
Gone for Good
Also a mini-series? Sometimes it’s hard to tell with Netflix.
The Chair
Looks good AND it has Sandra Oh.
AlRawabi School for Girls
Netflix will forever do preppy school content with crime elements.
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf
I’m gonna stick to the live action stuff.
Control Z (Season 2)
I forgot almost everything from season 1.
Lucifer (Season 6 Date announcement)
I still haven’t finished Season 5 yet, I kinda dipped out.
I need to watch some of these, been meaning to get to the Dune trailer but haven’t yet.
The Last Duel looks good I reckon!

I haven’t read Dune, so I have no idea how it holds up to the book, but everyone so far seems to really be into the trailer. It could be huge!

Thoughts:
1. The Last Duel: Apparently it’s based on a book which is about the legendary French duel. I think I’ll get the book for a friend of mine this holiday season. It’s the sort of thing he’d enjoy. Also, with long hair and a beard, doesn’t Adam Driver look like he could play Jesus in a Bible film?
2. Lamb: It’s definitely creepy looking, but what’s it about?
3. John and the Hole: Looks creepy and the premise seems interesting. Also, even if she could come up with an answer for that question, he probably wouldn’t like it.
4. Clickbait: Seems tense. And wasn’t there a film like this back in the late 2000s? Some sort of thriller?
5. Gone for Good: Looks twisty.
6. Lucifer season 6: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! It’s finally happening! I’m both excited and sad to see it go.

The Last Duel is based on some actual historical events, from what I heard. I suppose the book chronicled that?
No clue.
I just saw photos of the family in a hole and I was like “nope, I’m out of here”.
I honestly don’t follow those kind of cyber crime stories, because they freak me out.
I knew you’d like that.

I might cry during the last season. I may need to binge it with popcorn and wine. I’m becoming a mess just thinking about it! 😭😭😭

That trailer for Lamb is something else! It went back and forth between freaky and funny, and I just found that so unsettlingly interesting. I’ll definitely have to git it a shot for sure. Them A24 productions getting so intriguing with each movie they release. Thanks for sharing, Kat! 😀

I kind of had to think of Sweet Tooth when I saw stills from Lamb, but I doubt their tone will be similar haha A24 is always good for something unique and intriguing though.
