I’ve been binging a lot lately, so I hope this post won’t get too long. There’s a lot of cool stuff releasing this month and I’m almost struggling to keep up. But let’s not waste any more time and jump right into it!
Just so it’s out there, please beware of Spoilers in the upcoming TV sections! As I’m talking about the shows as they air, I might mention plot points etc. which you might not want to know about if you haven’t caught up yet. I won’t, however, put anything in bold that’s a huge reveal! I’m also trying to stay vague in general, but the comments are free game!
FINISHED TV SHOWS/SEASONS
The Book of Boba Fett
They really did it. They managed to pull everything together in that final episodes. I have some minor “complaints” about the show, but overall it was a great season. I don’t know if they just expect everyone to have seen everything, but for people who weren’t familiar with the Clone Wars, the whole Cad Bane thing was a little late in the season. I think the impact would have been greater earlier on.
Also, Luke was being a real hypocrite with his test for Grogu. Obviously, we don’t know the whole story, but Luke definitely hasn’t forsaken all his attachments and to expect that of the little green guy is therefore strange. Also, if Grogu had stayed, wouldn’t he still have been at the school when Ben arrived? Just saying …
Starstruck (Season 2)
I’VE MISSED THIS SHOW SO MUCH! I regret watching it all in one go and am ever so grateful I had that option. I’m really more of a binging person, rather than someone who watches on a weekly basis, especially when episodes are this short. However, Starstruck does air on Mondays, they just also put the whole season online.
I loved seeing this new progression of Jessie and Tom’s relationship. I’m glad they had struggles, because sometimes people think that just realizing what they want is enough, but there’s still loads of work to do afterwards. This was so much fun and I hope there will be more seasons.
Sweet Magnolias (Season 2)
What can I say? I forgot 95% of what happened in the first season and did not bother to refresh my memory in any way. Maybe that forgetfulness helped me in really enjoying Annie and Jackson as a couple, even though everyone is rooting for her with Ty. Either way, I was not as invested as last season and yet, I want more. Cliffhangers will do that to you …
WEEKLY TV SHOWS
The Afterparty (Season 1)
Every episode is done in a different genre style and Chelsea’s thriller episode was amazing! I’ve had my suspicion about who the murderer might be from the pilot and it seems like I might be right. I just need to find out the motive now!
How I Met Your Father (Season 1)
This show is my whole joy! For real! Just let me have it, okay?
The Cleaning Lady (Season 1)
We’re only five episodes in and the stakes are already SO high. I cannot with the tension sometimes, but I’m enjoying it. There’s just something so special about this odd trust and connection between Arman and Thony. They’re really carrying the show for me.
Abbott Elementary (Season 1)
Gregory as a gardener was my E V E R Y T H I N G!
Promised Land (Season 1)
Okay, who else is waiting for the money stealing husband to start cheating on his wife with her sister? Cause I feel that coming.
Euphoria (Season 2)
Everyone: This is what another Emmy nomination looks like.
Me: Why am I still watching this? There’s not even a single Fexi interaction …
9-1-1: Lone Star (Season 3)
Okay, Judd and Grace are goals. Their relationship is so strong and I adore them and want them to be happy.
MOVIES
As always, don’t forget to add me on Letterboxd if you want to be up to date on all my movie experiences!
Through My Window
It has been a really, really long time since I’ve seen something so bad.
This movie is based on a very popular Spanish book, but I could not handle the storyline. It was so cliché, full of badly-executed tropes and just downright confusing in the beginning? And never mind that the actual relationship is just toxic. It felt like they were just horny and that justified everything. I can’t even argue with people saying this felt like a teenage Fifty Shades of Grey …
Home Team
I like movies about Football for some reason, but this one didn’t really do all that much for me. I feel like they could have dug much deeper to make it as touching and inspirational as they probably intended it to be. Also, there was a scene where everybody just threw up and I could have really done without that one.
That’s interesting to read about Home Team. We watched the trailer for it and it was like we didn’t need to watch the entire thing. I am sure we will at some point, but it’s good to know you thought it needed to dig deeper.

It was cute in parts, but I’ve seen better. Taylor Lautner kind of makes for a good teacher/coach though.

I started watching both Gravity Falls and the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man films again. The former is still amazing, the latter so far is fun, though the CGI hasn’t always aged well.

Yeah, times have changed! CGI really did get so much better over the years. It’s sometimes the reason I’m afraid to rewatch old movies, cause they just look terrible now and were enchanting back in the day.

At least they used it sparingly because they knew the technology had its limitations.

Based on the previews, I think we’re getting Fexi in this next episode! This last one stressed me out. I liked the Book of Boba Fett. Sure, it was uneven, but I never had a dull time watching it.

I hope so! I really do need my Fexi fix.
It took me a while to really get into The Book of Boba Fett. I think I wasn’t really invested the first three episodes, but I liked it in the end!

I think I also enjoyed the first season of sweet magnolias more than the second, but I was still hooked. Low stakes, small town series really work for me. I was surprised that I liked Jackson and Annie since one of my favorite things of season 1 was the whole Tyler and Annie storyline. Still, I think she will end up with Tyler if they get more seasons.
I really love Hilary Duff, so I was already considering watching How I Met Your Father, and now you are making me want to watch it even more. But I should probably finish the last season of Younger (which I also started watching because of her) before I start her new show.

I think I just watched a lot of better shows in the meantime, so Sweet Magnolias didn’t draw me in as much, but I still enjoyed it in the end. I know that the show is based on books and Annie and Ty are probably endgame, but I like her with Jackson. He turned out to be so sweet and attentive this season and I love that for her.
Younger is a great show! It kind of fizzled out a bit for me in the final seasons, just because I was a huge Josh fan and he got kinda done dirty, but Hilary is always a joy to watch! There’s a reason A Cinderella Story is one of my comfort movies.

Yes, I feel the same about Younger, that’s why I haven’t watched the last season yet. They did Josh dirty and after Charles started dating Liza, he became the worst, so it wasn’t that fun to watch. I have watched A Cinderella Story so many times but I haven’t watch it in years and now I want to.

I read this comments again becquse of the notification and I think it’s not clear that when I said “he is the worst” I meant Charles and it was bugging me so much that I need to clarify it lol

Honestly, I WAS wondering about that haha Because I love Josh and he remained the best person throughout the whole thing haha glad we’re on the same page then.

I’ve had a really strange week and couldn’t concentrate on any books or TV shows. Seriously, I tried a bunch of different things on Netflix and nothing could hold my attention. I tried watching Murderville which I was super excited for but I just felt kind of meh about it…but I’ll definitely give it a second chance once my mental health is better!

I hear you! I started Murdreville too, but had to stop somewhere in the first episode. My heart wasn’t in it, despite me being super excited for it initially.

Oh god, I also forgot 99% of what happened in Sweet Magnolias, but I need to watch the second season as well. And YAY for how I met your father, I’m watching it too and I’m really, reallyyy enjoying it a lot! ❤

I watched the recap for Sweet Magnolias and I was like “riiiight, I think maybe somewhere in the depths of my brain there’s a faint memory of that occurring on the show.” It was fun though!
HIMYF is my happy place! ❤
