I meant to watch Conversations with Friends today, but instead I’ve fallen into a bit of a NewGen Star Trek bingefest. Anyway, we’re here to check out some trailers, so let’s do that!
Movies
Cha Cha Real Smooth
Apple TV+ acquired CODA from Sundance last year, so that worked out well for them. I think this could be really good too. Maybe not Academy Awards good, but good.
Avatar: The Way of Water
Fun story, I saw this trailer like a week before it premiered in a Dolby Atmos cinema and it looked really beautiful. But it has been SO long since the first one …
Father of the Bride
This is my kind of movie and I have no idea what that says about me.
Rise
I know nothing about basketball, but sports movies can be cool.
Dangerous Liaisons
Is this … a French take on Cruel Intentions?
Last Looks
It’s Charlie Hunnam, I can get into it.
Lovely Little Farm
I’m sure it’s lovely, but the animals and their animations weird me out.
First Love
Did they … forget to add the dialogue audio? They almost showed the entire movie.
Zero Contact
Is this another one of those movies that was shot at home?
Hustle
I feel like I shared this before?
Resurrection
Someone said this was dark, bizarre and really good – I can see that.
Trees of Peace
Netflix buying this one after it got critical acclaim seems like a smart choice.
WYRM
But what if you’re aro or ace or both or just … don’t want to kiss someone? Plot hole to me.
TV Shows
First Kill
It’s a lesbian vampire/hunter story, what more could you want?
Resident Evil
I’m not familiar enough with the franchise to comment on it.
Physical (Season 2)
I just love Rose Byrne
The Orville: New Horizons (Season 3)
I liked it in season 1, but never finished the season. Don’t know why.
In the Dark (Season 4)
I’m so behind on this one.
Westworld (Season 4)
I think I never finished season 2 …
Thoughts:
1. Avatar 2: Looks nice, but I only thought the original was okay. I don’t think I’ll see this new one.
(Hilariously enough, when I was in college, I went to this event the English department put on where a writer who’s done stuff with Hollywood spoke to us aspiring writers. He took one look at me and said “Avatar is your favorite movie, isn’t it?” He was quite surprised when I told him I preferred horror films).
2. Father of the Bride: How many times are they going to remake this film?
3. Resurrection: Creepy
4. Resident Evil: Wait, this is a TV series? Also, never been a fan of the franchise, so I’m not likely to check it out.

I know that I loved Avatar when it was in cinemas and I think I saw it twice or three times, it was mostly the visuals I was fascinated by. The story is so so.
If they can make a gazillion Fast and Furious movies, I get to watch Father of the Bride style movies.
Imdb said Resident Evil was a Netflix show. I checked this time.

In retrospect, that makes sense. The trailer did seem packed.
