I guess I’m going to wish all fathers and father figures a happy Father’s Day, even though it was last week in my country. It’s so confusing that so many of these celebrations are on completely different days all over the world. Anyway, we are here for trailers. Let’s get started!
Movies
Persuasion
THIS is my favorite Austen story (and YES, I will judge you based on your favorite Austen novel). It’s definitely a modern take and I don’t know if all of it will work, but I’m super excited for this adaptation.
Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between
Netflix is making this the summer of YA romance book adaptations.
My Policeman
PLEASE, let this be better than the book! It looks good. (Thoughts on the book can be found in my Harry Styles reading experiment here)
Blonde
Is it weird that I’m mostly interested to see if Ana can pull off sounding like Monroe? She obviously looks the part now.
Matilda the Muiscal
Not a musical person, but Lashana Lynch as Ms Honey? Count me in.
Beauty
This is apparently loosely based on Whitney Houston’s days before fame. Looks interesting for sure!
Bros
I already liked the first trailer, so this is still good.
I Love My Dad
Kind of sad this has to be said, but … please, don’t catfish your child!?
Prizefighter
Looks like a fitting movie for Russell Crowe.
Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish
Is it just me or does the animation look different? Like, very different.
TV Shows
Boo, Bitch
Yes, let Lana do some comedy!
Mike
A limited series about Mike Tyson, from what I gathered?
Tulsa King
Don’t know if this one is for me. Nothing grabbed me yet.
Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin
Not sure I care considering the flop of the other PLL spin-off.
Maggie
Don’t know what happened, but it was supposed to premiere on abc last year and then didn’t. Now it’s on hulu. I think it looks interesting enough, but if they drag out the romance plot too long, it will get super tired.
Only Murders in the Building (Season 2)
YAY!
Westworld (Season 4)
Can’t watch the trailer, because I’m not at that season yet. Then again, I don’t know if I’m still into it enough to catch up.
Thoughts:
1. Blonde: Looks very strange.
2. Matilda the Musical: I still like the one from the 1990s with Mara Wilson and Danny DeVito. But I love musicals and I’m curious, but I’ll check it out.
3. Puss in Boots 2: You’re right, the animation is different! They definitely integrated some of the same action animation as in Welcome to the Spider-Verse.
4. Boo, Bitch: I thought this was a movie for some reason.

I think they did well on not showing too much of Blonde in the trailer, they really wanted to tease more. Probably smart considering the mixed reviews it got from critics.
I LOVE the 90s movie. Matilda was my kindred spirit as a child.
That’s what it was reminding me of! Especially in the background animation.
I checked imdb, it’s a limited series I think?

Spider-Verse was big. I’m not surprised it’s having a ripple effect.

Kat, will be interesting to see if Only Murders In The Building can re-capture the magic from the first season. May wind up being a show best left as one-and-done season-wise, but glad they’re giving it another go. Who knows what the heck is going on with Westworld? I thought Season 1 was awesome, but it went off the rails and stayed off the rails since. The visuals are cool. We’ll watch the season opener…but may not stick around this time around.

I never made it through season 2 of Westworld, so I really can’t say, I’m afraid.
