Kat’s Weekly TV & Movie Recap #34

I’m so tired right now, I’m honestly not sure any of this will actually make sense, but we’re gonna do it anyway. Let’s talk about what I’ve been watching this past week!

I haven’t finished any new shows yet, although I started to binge Bee and PuppyCat, which is such a random show. I know it existed before this 2022 Netflix version/sequel, but I just went in knowing nothing and it’s fun.

Roswell, New Mexico (Finale)

It’s over! This new run of Roswell truly had its ups and downs. I was so in love with some of the characters, but the final season was disappointing to say the least. Except for the main ship, a lot of other relationships were sidelined or rushed. You all know that I adore Maria more than anything, she’s my favorite on the show, and it seems they weren’t able to get the actor for Gregory to return for the final season. So, she was just thrown into the arms of Dallas, which was cool, because they have chemistry and he’s great too, but it was rushed and THEY DIDN’T EVEN END UP TOGETHER. This is me complaining about someone who never got a steady relationship on the show anyway. I don’t even want to imagine how Malex and Echo fans are doing, because either their ship wasn’t there for 80% of the season or it is now left in space limbo indefinitely.

I know they had planned to do several time jumps for a final season, which they didn’t get, but I wish they just had at least a bit of a look ahead to give us more closure.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (Season 1)

While I adored the comedic duo that was Madisynn and Wong, I didn’t love this episode as much as some of the ones before … I think Jen’s story didn’t get to shine as much and the way they kept bringing up that interview about how she got her name, I just have a feeling that’s obviously going to play into Titania’s lawsuit.

Tell Me Lies (Season 1)

WHAT DID I WATCH!? This show is just full of terribly unhealthy relationships, but I couldn’t stop watching and I will continue to tune in. I’m the worst.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (Season 3)

Glad I was wrong about Ricky and that he put Gina first. That would have been so disappointing.

Star Trek: Lower Decks (Season 3)

The fact that they thought they weren’t the cool ship. RIDICULOUS!

Stargirl (Season 3)

I want the Shade back! He’s one of my favorites and I’m gonna miss him. Sylvester just becomes increasingly more unhinged …

As always, don’t forget to add me on Letterboxd if you want to be up to date on all my movie experiences!

Thor: Love & Thunder

I FINALLY watched Thor: Love & Thunder. I enjoyed the movie a lot, although Ragnarok is still my favorite Thor movie. While some running gags got a bit tired, it was funny, but also had a lot of touching moments – not always an easy balance to handle. Having Jane Foster back was a bright spot in the movie for me, but at the same time, it didn’t catch me as much. I don’t know if this is part of my superhero fatigue or if there really was an element missing that would have made it more special.

If you know me, you know that I adored the ending. The fact that Love & Thunder was about something so completely different than what I had thought was perfect and I love these kind of stories, these unlikely but eternal bonds. I can’t wait for the next Thor movie to be honest.

AND I can definitely get used to Marvel films ending more or less in Ted Lasso cast member cameos. That’s lovely!

Did you watch anything I’ve watched? Are there some movies I should check out? Let’s talk about that!

  1. You mentioned The Shade! I love that character. Don’t worry. I am positive he’ll be circling back soon. It is also possible we may even see what he’s up to outside of Blue Valley. Yes, Sylvester is a hot mess, and I don’t really like that character anyway…so if he left I’d be good. I’ve been down on She-Hulk since it started, but after adjusting my expectations I enjoyed the fourth ep more than the others. Glad you got around to seeing Love and Thunder. We disagree on the likeability of it, but I did love the ending!

    • The Shade was one of my favorite parts of season 2 of Stargirl, so I really need more of him. I’ve read some theories about what he might be involved in, so I’d be interested in more of that.
I think Love and Thunder turned out to be a 3.5 star movie for me, so only slightly above average. But the fact that it was about Thor becoming a dad was everything to me. Adoption storylines are my weak spot and that ending catapulted it higher!

      • Love and Thunder did stick the landing at the end. That was a very cool “development” with the adoption. The Shade would be a great character to dress up for on Halloween – top hat, dark glasses, and the suit. Hmmm. By the way, thanks for the follow!

      • I still need to figure out my Halloween costume for this year! I’m so late, because usually it’s all settled by early summer for me haha
And of course! Sorry it took me so long. I’ve really appreciated how engaged you are on my blog and thank you for always adding so much with your comments. I’m looking forward to exploring your blog more once I’m not so swamped with work.

  2. Loved your post! 😊 I too didn’t really enioy this week’s episode for She-Hulk – the show isn’t really working for me to be honest. I’m also glad to hear you enjoyed Thor: Love and Thunder because I did too! It’s received a lot of hate online but I still like it for what it is. It was a fun summer blockbuster 👍

    • Thank you! 😊 I’m sorry She-Hulk isn’t for you. I like the show in general, but it’s not my favorite Marvel show out of the ones we got on Disney+.
And I thought the critiques for Love & Thunder were a bit harsh. I get that expectations were high after Ragnarok, but it wasn’t a terrible movie.
Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!

  3. I’m glad you liked Love and Thunder. I really liked the ending too. I hope they do another movie for sure. That relationship would be golden! 😍
I did find myself getting a little bored at times during the movie, but still an easy watch. I actually think I’d it enjoy more the second watch with less expectations.

    • I swear the Love & Thunder movie was very mid (I did end up giving it only 3.5 stars) until that final scene. I’ve said this in another comment, but adoption storylines are just my absolute weak spot. At the end of my movie it said “Thor will return”, so I’m very much assuming we get more of Love and him in the next one. Dad Thor is peak Thor!

  4. I agree with you on She-Hulk: Wong and Madisynn are hilarious, but the episode didn’t feel like it was as focused on Jen as it should be. At least we have five more episodes to explore that story and really get into the meat of things.
As far as my own personal watching habits, I’m almost done rewatching Owl House, which will make me long for season 3 all the more; I stopped watching Little Demon, because it’s just not my style of comedy; I’m midway through season six of Law & Order; and I watched the Salem’s Lot miniseries from 1979. It was okay.
