Trailers You Might Have Missed … (Sep 5-11/2022)

I can’t believe it’s already the end of the week and the next work week starts tomorrow, but that is life. We’ve got some trailers to catch up to, with quite a few trailers and teasers from this year’s D23 Expo. Unfortunately, not all of them were shared publicly already, but we still got a decent number. Let’s check it out!

Movies

Black Adam

It was interesting to see a bit more of the other characters and the world (go Justice Society), but I’m not sure I needed another trailer.

Disenchanted

I’m so torn about how to feel. I don’t want her to be bad, but this makes for a good story. Aaaaah.

Glass Onion

I still think Glass Onion is a silly title, but I am so HYPED! Knives Out is one of my favorite movies ever.

Amsterdam

Another movie with a huge star-studded cast.

The Good Nurse

I think the story would freak me out too much, but that is a top notch cast.

Armageddon Time

The music at the start gives it such a different vibe than what it’s eventually about.

Hocus Pocus 2

You know I don’t have an opinion on this one.

The Little Mermaid

I know I said I didn’t want to watch any more live action Disney remakes, BUT I will happily be seated for this one. Genuinely cannot wait!

Luckiest Girl Alive

I’ve not read the book, but this has a “Cruel Summer” (the TV show) feel.

Meet Cute

Imagine going back in time just to keep dating Pete Davidson. It’s a choice! I like the subversion of the typical trope though!

My Policeman

*sigh* … I wish they didn’t market this as a romance. It’s just not. It’s super tragic and I talked more about it here.

What’s Love Got to Do With It?

This movie is for me! Yep.

The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry

A little Hallmark-y in the way it looks and gives away quite a lot, but it seems lovely and I will watch it. Also, more or less another adoption storyline, so I’m here for it.

Wendell & Wild

Looks wicked.

When the Screaming Starts

Not them making a serial killer mockumentary.

Blueback

Awe, I haven’t seen Mia Wasikowska in a while! Adore her!

Close

Someone’s gonna cry watching this movie.

TV Shows

Percy Jackson and the Olympians

How are people complaining about their age? They’re literally that age in the books and it makes sense if you plan to have a long running show. I’m so pumped for its release!

Andor

Still in shock that I’ll get more screen time with my boy Cassian.

High School

I had no idea there was going to be a Tegan and Sara show!?

Interview with the Vampire

Looks. so. good!

National Treasure: Edge of History

I know people want to see Nic Cage, so do I, but I’m going to show up for my boy Jake Austin Walker and will happily watch this show.

The Girls at the Back

Weirdly, I’ve seen several stories like this in movies and TV as of late.

Quantum Leap

I don’t necessarily trust any network to keep shows beyond a season, but I don’t mind that they rebooted this one.

Tales of the Jedi

Sorry, I’m not up to date with animated Star Wars content.

Secret Invasion

Okay, hear me out, but doesn’t it kind of give Winter Soldier meets Zygon Invasion vibes? The spy thriller vibes are impeccable.

Werewolf by Night

This looks PERFECT for the spooky season. Love how the aesthetic is giving me old school movie vibes.

Willow

I know many people have childhood memories of Willow, but I know nothing and I like the look of the show regardless.

The Peripheral

I thought it was a movie at first.

The Mandalorian (Season 3)

I don’t think I need to explain why I’m excited about this.

Pennyworth (Season 3)

I still haven’t watched a single episode of this. I’m always slacking when it comes to DC content, sorry.

Grey’s Anatomy (Season 19)

I said I wasn’t going to get sucked back into Grey’s … but this soft reboot with the new interns, they might get me back.

Did you spot some stuff you would like to watch? Let’s chat!

  1. Black Adam – I hope Dwayne plays this serious and really does the role justice.
Glass Onion – I can live with the title as long as it is as good as Knives Out. Actually, I kind of like the title. Peeling back the onion of the mystery, but always the potential to get “cut.” Amsterdam – I am cautiously optimistic this will be really, really good.
Secret Invasion – Absolutely got a major spy thriller vibe out of that trailer when I saw it.
The Mandalorian – I have watched the new trailer about 12 times now. Can’t wait.🙂

    • Black Adam could really be hit or miss. I’m not trying to dunk on DC movies, but they just haven’t always hit the same way Marvel movies have for me.
I see what you mean about Glass Onion, but I guess I just don’t like the imagery. It does make sense for the mystery part though, you’re right.
DEFINITELY spy thriller vibes! I like that all the Marvel shows try to cater to a different genre in a way.

  2. I can’t believe that Grey’s is going into season 19! But knowing me, I’ll be tuning in. I’ve been in and out of the show for years and somehow always end up being drawn back in in every time.
I’m also super curious about the Percy Jackson series!

    • Oh yeah, Grey’s has been going on FOREVER! I haven’t watched anything in a really long time, I’ve mostly just kept up through crossovers or trailers, because I’m still watching Station 19. But those new interns … they’re gonna reel me back in, I can just tell.
The Percy Jackson series is going to be lovely, I just know it. Wish I was still a kid to really get the most out of growing up with those actors.

  3. Thoughts:
    1. Black Adam: Bring it.
    2. Disenchanted: Was this film really popular enough to warrant a sequel? Especially one so many years later?
    3. The Good Nurse: Ooh, true crime. Considering.
    4. Armageddon Time: Jewish representation, among other things. Okay, I’m interested.
    5. Hocus Pocus 2: Probably going to be my Friday night entertainment.
    6. The Little Mermaid: Skipping it, pretending it doesn’t exist, I’m just done with these live action remakes.
    7. When the Screaming Starts: No way it can compare to Behind the Mask.
    8. Percy Jackson: I’ll give it a chance. I only read part of the first book, and that was because I had nothing else to read on a plane ride home.
    9. Interview with the Vampire: I’m a little surprised by the changes to the historical periods, but Anne Rice gave her blessing before she died, and her son’s involved carrying on her will, so I know it’s going to be good. DVR’s actually already set to record it next month.
    10. Secret Invasion: This is going to be good.
    11. Werewolf by Night: Even if this weren’t Marvel, I’d be pumped for this. As it stands, I’m very, very excited.

    • Oh Rami, you’re really not up to date if you don’t know about the cultural significance of Enchanted! People LOVE it and it’s truly such a good movie. Still, no one asked for a sequel necessarily and they might ruin something that was great on its own. Well, I guess we can always pretend the sequel doesn’t exist if it’s terrible.

  4. Kat, I love these posts so much because I am AWFUL at keeping up with trailers. I didn’t even know there was a Glass Onion trailer!! I loved Knives Out and I am so excited to see where this next one goes. As someone who loves Captain America: The Winter Soldier because of the spy thriller vibes (and Nick Fury and Maria Hill), Secret Invasion looks so good! I do have to say, some part of my brain really cannot process the amount of a-list actors (and general celebrities) that have been joining the MCU, they’re collecting them like infinity stones! I also recently watched National Treasure for the very first time so that TV show looks very fun!

    • As always, that’s music to my ears! I’m happy these posts make it easier for people to keep up, because I’d watch all those trailers on my own anyway haha might as well share them!
Knives Out is one of my all time favorite movies and I’m so excited for Glass Onion. I hope it won’t disappoint, it’s hard to follow up on that kind of success.
Everyone’s in the MCU by now haha wherever you look, it’s barely anyone knew on the acting scene and mostly really high profile celebs.
Your first time watching National Treasure!? So cool! I adore the movies, probably because I always wanted to be a rogue archaeologist growing up. The Librarian, Indiana Jones, National Treasure … if only I had the patience to study history haha
