Kat’s Weekly TV & Movie Recap #35

I’m still in shock over the things that happened on Critical Role these past weeks and I was swamped with work and other stuff, but I did manage to write a little bit for my Fantasy novel – I call that a win! Anyway, I also distracted myself with some good old TV shows and movies, let’s check them out!

FINISHED TV SHOWS/SEASONS

Bee and PuppyCat (Season 1 or 2??)

Okay, so … this Netflix show is a sequel and/or reboot of an existing show. I was very confused while watching it, because this was my first experience with the Bee and PuppyCat, but at the same time, I couldn’t stop watching. I didn’t understand half of what was going on in all its ridiculousness, but I enjoyed myself and genuinely hope there will be more.

Fate: The Winx Saga (Season 2)

Fate is one of my guilty pleasures, it’s as simple as that. The new season released yesterday and I flew through it. I’m glad we finally got Flora, because what were they thinking when they didn’t include her in the first season, but I feel like they want to get closer to the source material now in general. I mean … there were hints at characters and relationships that I definitely remember from way back when …

There’s just something about the look of the show or the acting where I can’t fully take it serious, while they seem to take themselves super seriously. But I still binged it, so who am I to talk.

WEEKLY TV SHOWS

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (Season 1)

I’m glad the lawsuit was as easily resolved as I thought it would, but I vastly devastated at the lack of post-credit scene. I’ve gotten so used to it in this show and the episodes are so short. But we all know which cameo is coming soon and I CANNOT WAIT!

Vampire Academy (Season 1)

The first four episodes dropped and I enjoyed them so much. I’ve originally wanted to check out the show because of Kieron Moore as Dimitri, but I’ve quickly fallen for most of the cast. I haven’t read the books, only watched the movie, but I’m having a great time with this vampire renaissance.

Tell Me Lies (Season 1)

It’s just getting worse … why are they so toxic in their relationships?

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (Season 3)

Usually, I’d put the finale of a show in the above section, but I don’t have that much to say. I thought it was the best decision ever to focus more on Gina. She’s a star.

Star Trek: Lower Decks (Season 3)

The engineers not being able to relax and working even in their downtime is peak me.

Stargirl (Season 3)

I can’t wait to see where we go with Icicle Jr. this season. Him and Rick are gonna clash for sure.

MOVIES

As always, don’t forget to add me on Letterboxd if you want to be up to date on all my movie experiences!

Do Revenge

I’m so in love with Do Revenge! The pastel colors, the over the top characters, the soundtrack – all impeccable. And while the story seems like something you’ve seen before and where you feel like you can predict the outcome, there’s some really good mini-twists in there that make it all the more fun. It was a near perfect movie and it had a cast from like every show I’ve ever watched. I’m serious, there was someone from Stranger Things, Riverdale, Euphoria, Outer Banks, Love Victor, Ms. Marvel, 13 Reasons Why, Katie & Alexa, Game of Thrones … they really went hard when they assembled this cast.

Overall verdict – this movie is just a lot of fun! Also, I love Oscar Winner Olivia Colman. (You’ll get the reference once you watch the movie.)

Did you watch anything I’ve watched? Are there some movies/shows I should check out? Let’s talk about that!

  1. I’ll probably watch Fate soon but I’m also currently watching the Winx Club and now I’m remembering how when they first announced the series I didn’t want a whole dark vibe to it 😂 I just wanted more of the bad fashion!

Oh does She-Hulk have no post-credit scenes?? Noo my friend and I loved watching the other marvel series JUST to see if there’ll be a credit scene 😂

I’m going to watch Do Revenge… sometime soon because I love Maya Hawke

    • I mean they’re trying to make it Dark with Fate, but honestly … it’s not always reading as dark, because sometimes I just can’t take them seriously.

She-Hulk had post-credit scenes for its first 4 episodes, but not the 5th one, which was why I was so surprised haha I had gotten used to them.

Do Revenge was just a whole lot of fun! Enjoy!

      • Yeah, I think the Winx cartoon managed to do dark themes well with the Trix and everything the do. I’ll probably blog while watching so I don’t shake my head too much at how much they’ve changed my beloved Winx 😂

Ah ok I thought you meant like it had NO post-credit scenes and I was worried because Marvel = post-credit scenes.

That’s good to know for Do Revenge, thanks! I’ve seen a lot of praise for it and also clips that show I will love it.

  2. I’m warming up a little bit to She-Hulk now that it has been established it is an all-out comedy. Looking forward to some bigger, Avengers-like stakes as the series winds down. I cannot wait to see Do Revenge. I have heard great things about it, and a cast with Mendes, Hawke, Turner…and “Buffy” can’t possibly miss. I too am interested in where Stargirl is going with “Icicle Jr.” I don’t see the show getting renewed but will enjoy the rest of the season nonetheless!

    • Since we’re now halfway through She-Hulk, I’m really curious if Titania can step up her game as a villain or if they’re going to focus on someone else eventually. They’ll probably switch to whoever wanted her DNA.
Do Revenge was just a lot of fun. They’re all bad people, but it works so well.
I’ve read in an interview that with so many shows having gotten cancelled at the CW, the showrunners wrote an ending to this season of Stargirl that would work as a season and a series finale, in case they didn’t get renewed. Just to be sure and have something that would feel satisfying to viewers.
