Trailers You Might Have Missed … (Oct 24-30/2022)

Trailers You Might Have Missed This Week

I know I’m getting old, because I only got home around 2AM from my high school reunion and I’m absolutely freaking exhausted today. Time has its toll. So, let’s end this week on a chill note and check out some of the lastest TV and movie trailers.

Movies

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

I got chills when Jonathan Majors showed up. He’s going to kill it as Kang.

The Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special

Adding Kevin Bacon was everything.

It Takes Three

The production value doesn’t look that great, but I could be into it. Aurora Perrineau is amazing.

The Pale Blue Eye

Netflix is really leaning into Poe stories and I can’t fault them for that.

Don’t Leave

It looks kind of interesting, although I’m not sure I got the timelines exactly in the trailer.

Savage Salvation

Is it a movie about the opioid crisis? Is it a revenge movie? Is it both?

Taurus

How many movies did MGK and Megan Fox do together? There’s at least three just from the last years, I think.

TV Shows

1899

My mates from Dark are about to give us another breathtaking and complex show.

The Santa Clauses

I loved the movies when I was younger, interested to see how it will work as a show.

Fleishman is in Trouble

Looks really interesting to me.

Lockwood & Co (Teaser)

It’s more of a scene than anything else, but I’d watch this show despite not knowing anything about the source material.

The Calling

That detective guy has a creepy vibe for some reason and I don’t think that’s intended.

Poker Face

Could this have Knives Out but as a limited series potential?

Accused

I think it’s a bit too short to really have an opinion on it yet.

Jack Ryan (Season 3)

I never even started the show.

Succession (Season 4)

I know a lot of people who are looking forward to this.

Servant (Season 4)

I did not watch previous seasons.

Did you spot something on here that you would like to watch? Let’s talk about that!

  1. Thoughts:
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania: Phase 5 is looking great so far.
GotG Holiday Special: I already love it! Especially with Kevin Bacon in it.
Pale Blue Eye: OOOOOOOOOOOOH! Looks right up my alley.
1899: Reminds me of a book I read at the beginning of the pandemic, including the possibly Lovecraftian elements. I look forward to checking it out.

  2. The Ant-Man trailer didn’t do much for me, but that’s ok because I am expecting the movie to be great. I loved the first two. As for the Guardians Holiday Special, that trailer definitely made a good impression and am looking forward to it coming soon. That 1899 trailer was just bonkers. Don’t know what to make of that just yet. I saw you recommending Dark in an earlier comment. I’ve toyed with the idea of watching that ever since it came out. Is there anything you would or could compare it to?

    • The entire trailer of Ant-Man didn’t much for me either (and I’m still a bit salty about them recasting Cassie), but I am MASSIVELY excited about Kang.
Hmmm … Dark was compared to Stranger Things a lot back in the day, but make it time travel? I think it’s far more complex. It’s not a show you just let run in the background, you have to pay attention. Also, please don’t watch the dubbed version, it’s terrible.

      • Thank you for the advice and heads-up on Dark. Yes, that recasting of Cassie Lang was probably a case of wanting a “bigger” star because the movie and the role going forward required it, or as simple as they owed Newton a role after promising her something else. I like Kathryn Newton a lot, but I generally don’t like it when they recast.

      • I definitely don’t have anything against Kathryn Newton as a person, it’s really just the recasting for clout that I have an issue with. Especially the way they handled giving the news (or lack of giving that information) to the previous actress. They should have thought ahead and used someone else in Endgame.
