Trailers You Might Have Missed … (July 18-24)

trailers

This week we have a sort of SDCC edition of trailers and promos because that is where most (but not all) of them come from. In fact there was so much to choose from that I may have cut it down a little so that the post wouldn’t be too overwhelming … which it will probably still be. Now, before we get started, I just want to give a shout out to all the people who send me links for trailers (like for example you, Rami) because I really appreciate the thought behind that, but you need to trust in me that I will bring the best trailers to you! I have a pretty good network of getting them myself and I get confused if I end up with too many notifications and links. But if I ever do end up missing something essential, please feel free to make me aware of that in the comments!

Movies

Suicide Squad

So, this is probably my least favourite of all the Suicide Squad trailers, but I may just be a little bit in love with the editors nonetheless. Seriously, who is cutting those trailers? THEY SHOULD BE CUTTING EVERYTHING, THEY ARE SO ON POINT!

Justice League

I am more or less excited about this. More, because it packs more humour than the dreadful Batman vs. Superman did, and less because even though they have great casting they completely disregarded the already existing TV universe. I’ll get over it eventually … probably once I can actually see the movie.

Wonder Woman

I know this is a movie about a powerful woman and I don’t want to diminish the awesomeness of that AT ALL, but I do love any movie with one of the Chrises in it (Chris Pine, Chris Pratt, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Chris I-don’t-even-know)

Doctor Strange

It’s still the comic book adaptation I am least excited about in the near future, but it does look so much better than the first promo we got! It’s just that houses that fold into themselves keep reminding me of Inception, I can’t shake that.

King Arthur

I love the Arthurian legend, usually really enjoy Guy Ritchie’s vision and CHARLIE HUNNAM – I need no further convincing!

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

MAGIC! YAY! (Is it weird that I just want the Newt Scamander Pop Figure?)

Kong: Skull Island

Ever since the whole HiddleSwift fiasco, I can’t take Tom all that serious anymore … it’s just weird that this really made him loose some of his credibility in my eyes. However, Brie Larson is awesome, so this is a maybe for me.

The Girl on the Train

Still wondering if I should read the book …

xXx: The Return of Xander

I was honestly not expecting them to make another movie in that franchise.

The LEGO Batman Movie

I guess the first Lego movie was so successful, they have to keep banking in on it. It does look funny though.

Moana

I don’t understand a word BUT CUTENESS!!!!

TV Shows

Sherlock Season 4

I have no words other than FINALLY!

American Gods

It’s a Neil Gaiman adaptation, so I know the hype around it will be big no matter what!

All the Marvel Stuff

(including The Defenders, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Agents of SHIELD, …)

All the DC Stuff

(including Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow …)

Once Upon a Time (Season 6)

They are showing Jafar, but THERE ALREADY IS A JAFAR!!!! They made it very clear that Once Upon a Time and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland belong together and share characters, so WHY is this a different actor now?

The Vampire Diaries Forever

I think it’s about time this is ending. Better go out with a bang though!

Lucifer Season 2

I need to know more about Mum!

The 100 Season 3

Teen Wolf Season 6

Why do they always put Stiles through the emotional torture?

High Maintenance

I just finished Looking by watching the absolutely fantastic movie they ended with and then I stumbled upon this little promo. HBO always has great content, so I am pumped for this!

Sorry this got so long, but as always, what are you going to watch?

The Librarians Season Finale

I really enjoyed watching this series and am quite sad that The Libarians are over for now. I’m really hoping for another season, but for now, let’s talk about what the first Season had in store for us. Spoilers ahead!

So, the show definitely had it’s ups and downs, but all in all I liked it very much – more than I liked the second and third movie of the franchise at least. One thing I am sad about is that the way the first Season ended would be the perfect ending for the show, but I still want more and I’m afraid it’s going to ruin a future ending. But, a second Season still isn’t confirmed, so maybe they just wanted to make sure it didn’t end on a huge cliffhanger (I seriously appreciate that!). Now, let’s talk about the Season finale:

  • The alternate librarians were absolutely amazing, but Cassandra was definitely the coolest of them all. I loved her all through this season, because she’s sweet and innocent but also so incredibly intelligent. Aside from that it was interesting to see how Baird played a different role in all their lives and how different the world could’ve turned out to be if it weren’t for Flynn.
  • Talking of Flynn – I loved him in the movies, but I wasn’t really bothered at all that he barely appeared in the show, because I found him a bit annoying. Yet, he did save Baird in the end, so I will give him credit for that.
  • The final revelations about Dulaque, who’s really Lancelot Du Lac, and Jenkins, who’s Galahad were a bit rushed for me. They did make the finale a double feature, but the episodes didn’t have anything to do with each other and I would have preferred it, if they spent more time talking about this. The fact that Jenkins had something to do with Camelot was already hinted at by his meeting with Morgana, but I did not see that coming. I have no idea how closely the show follows the Arthurian legend, but that revelation would basically mean that Dulaque is Jenkins’ father (because Galahad was Lancelot’s illegitimate son) … talk about family issues.
  • As I mentioned above, the actual finale would have been worthy of a series finale, even though I imagine there is still a lot to tell. Everything was so resolved though – We got the library back, Baird and Flynn are together, fighting the bad guys and cutting the others loose to go on their own adventures, who in turn decide to stay together as well, rather than splitting up.
  • The first Season as a whole was quite interesting. Sometimes it got a bit too silly for me, but I liked the mix of more serious cases versus the casual ones. I am still not a huge fan of the visual effects, but they did get better with time. Maybe I’m just imagining that though. My favourite episodes include the one with the haunted house and the one where they all turned into fairy tale characters. Any favourites you want to talk about?

It was a good start for the series and I am eager to find out if there will be more. What are your thoughts on the Librarians?
