The Playlist Shuffle Tag

playlist

So, I do love to share some of my favourite music and I’ve seen the Playlist Shuffle Tag swirl around for a bit now. I was so happy that Michelle @The Writing Hufflepuff has tagged me now! I am a little afraid of the weird mix that is going to come out of this, but I bet it will be fun.

The Rules

Put your music on shuffle and list the first 15 songs to play (no cheating) then tag 10 others to do it as well.

*I will make 2 playlists, because I haven’t updated my iPod in ages and mostly listen to songs on YouTube now. They have the “My Mix” option on there, so I am going to use that as “shuffle”*

*I hope none of you have done this before, if you have, feel free to ignore it! I would love to hear of your music!*

Do you know some of the artists/songs I’ve mentioned? Some stuff I haven’t listened to in a really long while it feels like. Then there are some artists missing that I listen to quite a lot. Just click on the songs to listen to them on YouTube! I have to say that C’est La Vie and everything by Hozier, Years & Years, Rhodes, BANNERS and AURORA is instantly stuck in my head whenever I listen to it!

Top Ten Tuesday: Songs I Wish Were Books

top-ten-tuesday

It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday post, which is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish, if you want to know more about it, you can just click on the name! Here’s what she had in mind:

This week is all about music & books. We previously did books we’d give theme songs to so feel free to do that! Or 10 songs I wish that were books (check out my love songs I wish were books for an example of what I mean)

It sounds like a really cool idea and I always love to share some of my favourite songs! I am not sure how exactly to explain why I would want them to be books. The lyrics or maybe the music video were probably the reason, I’ll just leave it at that for now.

I Found by Amber Run

Falling for your kidnapper? Classic story! There’s another music video that continues the story, but it leaves on a cliffhanger and I would love to know what comes afterwards!

Nature Boy by AURORA

AURORA’s voice is magical! It makes everything sound enchanted and surreal and I know that she only covers the song, but it makes me that much more intrigued about the story from the lyrics.

Bloodsport by Raleigh Ritchie

I don’t really know how to explain this. I could see a story about a poisonous relationship though.

Magnets by Disclosure feat. Lorde

This would be such a good revenge story! Put some more background info on all the characters in it and voila – new book!

From Eden by Hozier

You’ve just watched the video, right? I apparently seem to have a knack for people who connect to their abductors.

Wildest Dreams by Taylor Swift

TayTay always has really great music videos and this one seem cool, set in old-fashioned Hollywood-ish times. Love between colleagues, regret and longing – I am totally in!

The Stranger by Lord Huron

A stranger appearing in someone’s life. Do they know each other? Suddenly they are both in danger and need to trust each other to get out of the mess.

Katie Queen of Tennesee by The Apache Relay

A tale of unrequited love – who is this Katie person? Is the guy really in love with her or only with the idea of her?

Let It All Go by BIRDY + RHODES

I imagine a heartbreaking love story, but it’s set in some sort of fantastical realm. Definitely not just a normal contemporary, yet something that pulls on your heartstrings like crazy!

Half Light by BANNERS

People drifting apart from each other, one of them is changing and the other one doesn’t understand what’s happening. They aren’t realising the full potential of who they could be.

My explanations aren’t the most detailed, so if you want to discuss bookish ideas, I’d love to do that in the comments. What are some songs you would like to see extended in form of a book? Did you know/like/dislike some of my examples? Don’t hesitate to share a link to your TTT below!

NaNoWriMo 2015 – The End! (+ Dreamer Chapter 8)

It’s debatable whether I deserve this banner or not, but I don’t care. I revised my goal for NaNoWriMo and wanted to achieve 25K and I managed to do exactly that! I am really proud of that achievement, so I am treating myself to the banner above. Also, if you think about it, I posted almost every day on the blog this month (except for last week), so my total words written would have exceeded 50K. If you just look at the novel, I still wrote 55 word pages, 25,097 words and 18 chapters. I’d say that’s pretty decent!

However, my novel (Dreamer) is far from being finished. I feel like I am still in the first third of the story, which makes sense if you think about the word count. I loved writing it though and I will definitely continue to work on it. But for now, I am celebrating!

I think this will also be the last time that I post a chapter of Dreamer here on the blog. If you want to continue reading it and are willing to give feedback, just shoot me a mail or PM on Twitter (you can find my contact info here) and I’ll send you a pdf file with updates.

Last but not least, I also want to congratulate my fellow Wrimos! Whatever word count you have achieved, you are awesome! I hope you had as much fun writing as I did! If you are willing to share your experiences below, I’d be more than happy to talk about it!

Maleficent

I have no idea how to start this review. I am not even sure I know what I think of the movie …

For everyone who has no idea what Maleficent is; it’s the re-telling of the classic fairy tale Sleeping Beauty from the POV of the dark fairy, Maleficent, herself. Obviously, you get some background of Maleficent and her feud with the king and it explains why Maleficent cursed the baby princess Aurora in the first place – and later on comes to regret her decission.

In my opinion, there were no logic flaws to the storyline, although the humans truly were quite naive and sometimes just greedy and dumb. In general, the movie was quite nice to look at. The conclusion was also as good as can be expected, but in the end I just found it extremely predictable. Maybe that’s where the problem lies … it just didn’t grip me and I wish it had been a tiny bit more entertaining.

Also, I have to admit that I am not a huge fan of Elle Fanning and her prince Phillip, played by Brenton Thwaites, didn’t exactly sweep me off my feet either. I absolutely didn’t like the king, which wasn’t necessary in this movie, so, I guess Sharlto Copley did a good job. Although the fairies were extremly annoying and reckless guardians of Aurora, it was nice to see Juno Temple, Leslie Manville and Imelda Staunton (unfortunately, not in pink but in red clothes) in the movie. Now to the main character, portrayed by Angelina Jolie: I think she was amazing and she really inhabited her role. She was purely magnificent! My personal highlight though, was Sam Riley as the raven Diaval. And I am honestly not saying this just because I once met him and found him to be a very nice and extremely cool young gentleman (see picture below)! His role was just the most fun of them all, he looked extremly cool turned into a horse and he has such a nice voice! Don’t you agree?

That's me with Sam Riley. You wouldn't believe the people you can meet in Vienna!

I love fairy tales, so naturally, I was intrigued and wanted to watch the movie as soon as it got released. From what I saw in the trailer and what I gathered from Lana Del Rey‘s take on the song “Once Upon a Dream” for the soundtrack, I had high hopes for it being a little spooky. I was wrong, but then again, what did I expect from a Disney movie? Generally, I just wasn’t very impressed, but that doesn’t mean it’s a terrible movie. I don’t know how to put everything that I said above in a different way to make it sound less negative, but it’s an alright movie. I can’t seem to find the fitting words, but it’s a good film for a movie night with the family I guess.

What did you think about it? Help me out, maybe you can put your thoughts in better words than I did!
