The Fall Book Tag

I was tagged for this, brace yourselves, back in 2017. That is the shelf-life a lot of my tags have to endure until I get to them and I am so incredibly sorry for that. I’m not sure if Beth @Reading Every Night will even see this post now (I miss her on the blogosphere), but I’m doing the Fall Book Tag anyway. The weather is slowly getting colder, I can wear layers again … I just like the transition to this new season and wanted to celebrate that by doing a tag (and I haven’t posted anything else yet this week).

  • Please link back to Bionic Book Worm, as the creator of this tag. She wants to see your answers.
  • Use her graphics—if you want to.
  • Have fun!

CRISP FALL AIR – a book that felt fresh and new

Charming as a VerbI’m like 11 pages into this, so maybe not the best judge, but I just get exactly that fresh and crisp vibe from Charming as a Verb. If you’ve followed me for a bit, you will have noticed my utter enthusiasm for Ben Philippe’s first book, The Field Guide to the North American Teenager, and his style of writing that I really enjoy. Everything flows so easy and feels natural.

HOWLING WINDS – an ending that blew you away

A Deadly Education (Scholomance, #1)This award 100% goes to A Deadly Education, because it was a really fun book to read for me. I liked it a lot, but also felt like it could just be a standalone and then THE FINAL LINE HIT ME! It made me question everything I had just read and I love it when that happens. Seriously cannot wait for you all to be able to read that book too!

COMFY SWEATERS – a book that gave you the warm and fuzzy’s

Tweet Cute*me going through my pile of books filled with sadness and misery* – Ah, yes, here we have something!

Tweet Cute was one of those books that just made you smile. The banter is fun and the grilled cheese references WILL make you hungry. But that’s just what you’ll have to endure for a lovely contemporary romcom sometimes.

BRIGHT COLORS – a cover with either red, yellow or orange in it

Burn Our Bodies DownI’m sure there’s plenty of people who already love and adore Burn Our Bodies Down, but I will never be one of them. Something about that book just rubs me the wrong way and I did not enjoy it. However, it fits the category like a glove!

LEAF FIGHT – a book with non stop action

The Black VeinsAnother book I am currently reading (and please don’t ask me why I can’t focus on just one book, cause I don’t know) is The Black Veins. There’s magic and road trips and monsters and people getting kidnapped. I’m not even at the halfway mark and so much has happened!

PUMPKIN SPICE – your most anticipated read

This is a bit tricky for me, because I’m at a point in my book blogging life where I just don’t keep very much up to date with new releases. Sometimes something catches my eye, but I have so much backlisted that I would be completely helpless without some of my blogging buddies and blogger blast mails from publishers to keep me up to date.

Something that releases soon though (October 6, 2020) is Spoiler Alert and it sounds so much up my alley:

Spoiler Alert

Marcus Caster-Rupp has a secret. While the world knows him as Aeneas, the star of the biggest show on TV, Gods of the Gates, he’s known to fanfiction readers as Book!AeneasWouldNever, an anonymous and popular poster.  Marcus is able to get out his own frustrations with his character through his stories, especially the ones that feature the internet’s favorite couple to ship, Aeneas and Lavinia. But if anyone ever found out about his online persona, he’d be fired. Immediately.

April Whittier has secrets of her own. A hardcore Lavinia fan, she’s hidden her fanfiction and cosplay hobby from her “real life” for years—but not anymore. When she decides to post her latest Lavinia creation on Twitter, her photo goes viral. Trolls and supporters alike are commenting on her plus-size take, but when Marcus, one half of her OTP, sees her pic and asks her out on a date to spite her critics, she realizes life is really stranger than fanfiction.

Even though their first date is a disaster, Marcus quickly realizes that he wants much more from April than a one-time publicity stunt. And when he discovers she’s actually Unapologetic Lavinia Stan, his closest fandom friend, he has one more huge secret to hide from her.

With love and Marcus’s career on the line, can the two of them stop hiding once and for all, or will a match made in fandom end up prematurely cancelled?

Since it took me, hold up … checking again, 3 years to do this tag, I just kind of want to leave it open for anyone who wants to join in no the fun. IF YOU READ THIS (and you want to do it) CONSIDER YOURSELF TAGGED!

What did you think of my answers? Let’s talk!

Bookish Mid-Autumn Festival Tag

It’s been forever that I’ve done a tag and this one is fairly recent, so I am apologizing to everyone who has tagged me for something else before. I have no schedule for these things and I do them very much at random. Bear with me, one day, someday, I will get to yours as well, but right now I want to thank Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much for tagging me for the Bookish Mid-Autumn Festival Tag (created by Tinka @The Crazy Reader)! I had no idea what kind of festival that was (Google is my friend) but now let’s go and have some fun with this!

1. REUNION OF FAMILY: Name a Book with Family Goals.

A lot of families in books can be terrible. Either they are no-shows or abusive, but there is one family that I always think of first when it comes to the happy and supportive kind – The Garretts from My Life Next Door. I think I’ve mentioned them about a 100 times by now, but they are just that good a family!

2. FULL MOON: Name a Book with a Werewolf (this festival has nothing to do with werewolves; the only common things is the full moon).

Bitten! It’s also a TV show, so I can think of it really easily. I always intended to continue with the book series, but I have the TV-tie in for the first one and they didn’t release the other 13 (?) books with those, so now I have stopped after one book. It was a good one though, so … sorry?

3. MOONCAKES: Name a Kind of Food in a Book that you Wish was Real.

Food … mhmmm … now I am getting hungry. Because, you know, just the general thought of food is making my stomach growl. However, I cannot think of a single dish right now that doesn’t exist in real life. Sooo … just give me some black gold (Gambit’s expression for hot chocolate) while I keep pondering this question.

4. RABBIT: Name your Favorite Creature from a Book.

In the Dark Reflections series by Kai Meyer, there’s this lion made of obsidian. He can fly and is just generally awesome. Can you imagine going through his mane and it being all soft, but simultaneously it’s made of stone? It would probably blow your mind. I guess I have a thing for lions and objects made of stone. Just the other night I dreamt of gorillas made of alien-stone. It was pretty epic!

5. CHANGE: A Character that Makes a Significant Change to the Plot Since he/she did Something too Many Times.

When I was little, I adored the Series of Unfortunate Events, but Count Olaf kept appearing each book, badly disguised and I got so frustrated with adults. How could they not see through the charade of this terrible actor? I just wish he hadn’t been so persistent. I imagine he spent more money chasing the Baudelaire orphans than he’d get from their heritage anyway.

By the way, there’s a first teaser for the Netflix series. While I am a bit dismayed that they actually show Lemony, it looks really good so far.

6. LANTERNS: Name a Toy or Game in a Book that you Liked to Read About.

I don’t remember what the book was called, but it was about a bear who got lost or no one bought him or whatever and I always felt so sorry for him. I wanted that happy end for him sooo bad!

7. AUTUMN: Name a Book which you Feel is the Best to Read in Autumn.

I am just going with the first book I thought of and that was Fangirl. Cath goes off to uni and that’s in the fall, right? And she likes to wear layers and I just associate that with this time of the year.

8. FESTIVAL: Name your Favorite Festival in a Book

My mind is completely blanking! I can’t think of ANYTHING! If you know a festival in a book that I might have read as well, please tell me!

I Tag:

This was way more difficult than I thought it would be and you are of course free to ignore the tag if you don’t want to do it, but I will be looking forward to all the people who feel inspired to try their hands on this!

The Autumn Book Tag!

Welcome to the Autumn Book Tag! Seen as winter is coming, I thought I’d better hurry up and do the tag before all the leaves have fallen from the trees. I was tagged by Trisha Ann @The Bookgasm and if you haven’t seen her post yet, you should definitely go and check it out! She gave great answers! Let’s do this!

1.What is your favorite thing about autumn?

There is so much, I don’t even know where to begin. For one, I like the weather. I was never a fan of warm climate and I like mild days with a little bit of wind. Of course, that can go awry very quickly in autumn. If it’s raining or sometimes already snowing, that is like almost too cold for me. I like the happy medium. However, if it does rain, then there is nothing better than to cuddle up with a good book and a cup of tea.
Second, I like the colours associated with autumn. The reds and dark greens and all that jazz.
Another perk of autumn is the fact that a ton of new TV shows start airing and books get released. I LOVE THAT!
And last but not least, I like that I can wear layers again. I just feel a lot more comfortable with a jacket on.

2. What book reminds you of your school days?

Our teacher wanted to do something different and not read the Diary of Anne Frank with us, so instead we read Malka Mai by Miriam Pressler in class.  We did some excessive research on the topic and read other novels that took place during WWII as well. It’s not my favourite topic, but it definitely reminds me of school.

3. What cover reminds you of autumn?

16101168The last time I was asked this question, I chose City of Fallen Angels, so I don’t want to use the same one again. Malka Mai looks very autumn-y, but I just used that up as well. I guess in terms of colour, Lola and the Boy Next Door also fits the profile. So that it is!

4. What is your favourite horror or Halloween story?

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children, #1)23164983I seriously have no idea! I know one thing for sure and that is that I don’t like to be scared. I just don’t get the thrill of it. I suppose Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Hollow City has a certain creep factor … Only because of the pictures though. Sorry for not coming up with something better.

5. What is your favorite horror or Halloween film?

Uuuh, tough one! I’ve watched horror movies before, but I’d rather forget about them. So, as I’ve mentioned in the previous answer, I am afraid I can’t really recommend anything scary, but I do have something that I used to love watching on Halloween and that’s Halloweentown! I’ve watched all four movies about a gazillion times.

6. What fall book release are you looking forward to?

I’ve been looking forward to a ton of books and I still haven’t read any of them. But here are some examples. (Click on the covers for more info!)

7. What autumn movie release are you anticipating?

Hmmm … we are already pretty deep into Autumn, so a couple of the movies I was anticipating were already released. I am so bad at this tag, because I simply cannot answer with just one book/movie. I CAN’T DO IT! Here is a mix of the ones I haven’t seen yet (some are yet to come out, others have already premiered … I am not going to the movies as often as I’d like to).

8. What are the three books you plan to read this autumn?

I still need to finish Landline and then I have two eArcs I should get to and those are This Song Is (Not) For You and Seven Ways We Lie.

I Tag:

EVERYONE! I’ve lost sight of who has done what, especially when it comes to Fall Time/Autumn book tags! There are so many! But I bet now that Thanksgiving is over, we all need to brace ourselves for Christmas-themed tags. Either way, I am rambling on. If you want to do the tag, consider yourself tagged!!!

Fall Time Cozy Time Book Tag!

I love Fall Season! It brings me a ton of new shows on TV and the perfect weather to stay inside and cuddle up with a book, which the Fall Time Cozy Time Book Tag is basically about. I got tagged by my friend Astra from @A Stranger’s Guide to Novels. She just had her one-month-blogging-anniversary, so head over there and check out her fabulous work so far!

Crunching Leaves

The world is full of color – choose a book that had reds/oranges/yellows on the cover.

I know that this is a lot of people’s answer, but so what? City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare!

Cozy Sweater

It’s finally cold enough to don warm cozy clothing: what book gives you the warm fuzzies?

I wanted to go with Fangirl first (which of course give me the fuzzies), but I ultimately went with Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins. I still can’t get over how much I love that book!

Fall Storm

The wind is howling & the rain is pounding – choose your favorite book OR genre that you like to read on a stormy day

Mostly when it’s a stormy day outside, I want something cute and romantic. Something that warms me from the inside, but if I had to choose one book (which I sort of do right now), I would choose Austenland by Shannon Hale. It’s a super fast and super funny read and then I’d watch the movie right afterwards with some hot tea and cookies. Good times!

Cool Crisp Air

Who’s the coolest character you’d want to trade places with?

I think Mark Watney from The Martian is one of the coolest characters to ever exist, but there is no way on earth (or Mars) that I would want to trade places with him! So, my default answer is Tessa Gray from the Infernal Devices.

Hot Apple Cider

What under hyped book do you want to see become the next biggest, hottest thing?

This is always so difficult! I feel like I am mostly reading things that are either very current or already popular. However, a book that just didn’t let me go ever since I read it was How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff. Her style of writing took a lot of getting used to and it’s not even one of my all-time favourite books, but that story – it just kept me thinking for a while.

How I Live Now

Coat, Scarves, and Mittens

The weather has turned cold & it’s time to cover up – What’s the most embarrassing book cover you own that you like to keep hidden in public?

I wasn’t aware that there was such a thing as an embarrassing book cover. The only books I’ve ever hidden are the ones from the 50 Shades of Grey Trilogy, simply because I didn’t want to answer questions about them.

Pumpkin Spice

What’s your favorite Fall time comforts food/foods?

Chai Tea Latte!!! It’s not a food and I drink that stuff all year round, but who cares? In summer time I simply convert it to an iced Chai Tea Latte!

Warm, Cozy Bonfire: Spread the cozy warmth – Who do you tag?

I tag…

Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much

Marie @Drizzle and Hurricane Books

Prima @Panda Hearts Books

* As always, sorry if you’ve already done the tag and I forgot about it! Also, don’t feel obliged at all!
