The Entertainer Blogger Award

I haven’t done any kind of award post in a really long time, mostly because I stopped doing them altogether? It ended up being a chain reaction of getting the same tags over and over and drowning in questions that I barely had answers to, but when Andie @Andrea’s Nirvana nominated me for the Entertainer Blogger Award, I thought “Oh, this is one I haven’t done yet!” and that is how you came to read this post.

  1. Thank the person who nominated you and add a link to their blog.
  2. Add the rules so others can follow.
  3. Answer the questions that have been asked.
  4. Nominate a handful of entertaining bloggers.
  5. Display the photo also in your blog.

What genre did you read most before starting your blog?

I think I was always drawn to Fantasy the most. It probably had something to do with the fact that I thought big books meant that I was smarter and let’s face it, most Fantasy books are pretty long. I also dabbled in some general adult fiction though.

What genre did fellow bloggers influence your opinion on?

The stubborn person that I am, it is very difficult to convince me to read or try anything that I don’t really want to. However, some of my lovely friends have definitely made New Adult books look very appealing and it is thanks to them that I tried that genre. No regrets here, even if it is not one I turn to often!

Fave book format?

Hardcover books! They are expensive, so it’s not like I buy them all the time, but with paperbacks I always have to worry about them getting damaged in my backpack. The chances of that happening are way smaller for hardcovers. And unfortunately ebooks just aren’t as much fun for me. No particular reason …

Plants without flowers or plants that have flowers?

To care for? Plants without flowers. To get as a gift? All the pretty flowers.

Some tropes you love seeing in books?

I LOVE the whole enemies to lovers trope. Supportive families are my jam and I have a soft spot for well-crafted villains.

A book character you relate to a lot?

This might just be the hardest question out of the entire bunch. I have not found that one character that I relate to body and soul, but I explained why I feel really close to Molly in my review for The Upside of Unrequited (which you can read here).

My Nominees

My Questions

  1. If you could be a character (already existing or of your own creation) in a TV show, which show would you jump into?
  2. Do you take notes while reading or wing your reviews?
  3. Who is an author you would like to get coffee/tea/drinks with?
  4. Which post you’ve written are you proud of?
  5. Where would you travel if money wasn’t an issue?
  6. Which book are you reading next?

That’s it! Hope you enjoyed this little post. How would your answers be to the questions. Let’s talk!

Sunshine Blogger Award

I am SUPER late on all tags and awards once more. I am trying my best to keep up, but sometimes it’s no use. So, I am grateful for everyone’s patience and especially for Savannah @The Book Prophet, Puput @Unboxing My Thoughts, Blanca @A Girl’s Voyage and Lisa @Nefarious Reader because they all nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award! Even though I might not respond to these posts immediately, I really appreciate each and every nomination!

The Rules:

– Thank the person who nominated you.
– Answer 11 questions set by the person who nominated you.
Nominate 11 bloggers to receive the award and write them 11 new questions to answer.

Savannah’s Questions:

If you could go back in time to fix a mistake you’ve made or to change something, what would it be?

Oh … hmm … I don’t think I want to mess with time. What if me not making the mistake I made would change my life COMPLETELY. I know, that sounds like I am terribly full of myself but I quite like where I ended up, even if things aren’t perfect. And you learn from mistakes. They sort of make you who you are.

If you could pick a place in time to travel to, when and where?

Some cool party in the 1920s for sure! (That’s my standard time travel answer. I liked The Great Gatsby way too much)

Pick one fictional object you’d like to own.

Sonic Sunglasses – the most practical thing ever and they are way less conspicuous than a Sonic Screwdriver.

Who is your favorite actor/actress?

Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender? Totally random, because that changes every week to maybe even every day. But my dedication to those two remains and they are a couple, which is like double nice.

What is your current favorite TV show?

I just binged Hindsight and even though it would go a little far to say that it is my favourite show, it sure stuck in my mind.

Name three fandoms you are a part of.

Whovians, Sherlockians, Shadowhunters.

Favorite childhood character?

I just recently went on a nostalgia trip, looking at the intros to my favourite TV shows from my childhood. I really adored Scheherazade.

Favorite superhero movie?

Chronicle – ha! Bet you didn’t expect something so non-mainstream (but I simply couldn’t decide among those).

If a zombie apocalypse were to happen, pick your weapon of choice, food of choice, shelter of choice, and fictional character to bring along with you.

I want to have a bow and arrow, because I don’t think I would be good at face to face combat and guns freak me out. I want a lifetime ration of mac and cheese and Alec Lightwood with me. Let’s face it, I would just give him the bow and arrow and he’d be way better at the whole archery stuff to protect us, while giving off perfectly snarky comments. I’d love it.

Most anticipated book release of the year.

Heartless by Marissa Meyer is definitely a strong contender, because I love all things Alice.

If you could choose one book that you’d be able to adapt into a movie your way, what would it be and who would you cast, where would you shoot, who would write the script, etc?

Too many questions at once! I just know that I finally want The Night Circus to be turned into a movie. I have no proper answers for the rest of that question though – not yet! That needs like months more of thinking about.

Puput’s Questions:

Let’s start simple. What is your absolute, all-time favorite book?

Hahaha! Good one! HOW IS THAT EASY! I cannot choose – I refuse (sorry, but it’s probably Red Rising, The Martian, Inkheart, The Thief Lord or something like that).

What book caught your heart for the first time?

So many books! I was always a bookworm from a very young age on. I think Momo by Michael Ende was definitely up there somewhere.

What do you do to get over a book hangover?

Just not read for a little while. I know that might sound like weird advice, but I am equally addicted to TV shows, so I can always turn to that for a little while.

What do you think of love triangle in a book?

I know that’s controversial, but I like them. Believe it or not, they are not made up by authors, they do happen in real life and it’s definitely messy and not pretty. So, if a love triangle is done right, I am all on board.

Where’s your favorite place to read?

Any place that has lots of pillows and cushions and a surface where I could put a cup of tea without it falling over.

How do you organize your bookshelves?

I have mini-rainbows and then just chaos. I do not have the patience to truly organise it.

If you could pick one character from a book and live her/his life for one day, who would it be?

Reading ACOMAF makes me want to be Feyre for one day. But really only for that one day.

Who’s your favorite book reviewer?

Again, I am incapable of choosing so here are just a few of my favourite reviewers: CátiaCristina, Fadwa, Flo, JennaMarie, Reg, …

Aside from your blog & goodreads, to whom do you usually rave about books?

My cousin! She has to endure all my bookish talk, but she loves reading just as much, so I think she doesn’t mind it.

What do you think about book to movie adaptation?

There are really terrible ones and sometimes I like the movie better than the book. It happens! *cough*Me and Earl and the Dying Girl*cough*

Tell me three things you love as much as books and why.

  • TV shows, because they are just as much of an escapism as books
  • My family and friends, because life would be miserable had I to walk through it alone
  • Music, because it is the soundtrack and mood to everything I do

Blanca’s Questions:

Neon or pastel?

Pastel. I just like soft colours.

Sweet, savoury, sour or bitter?

Savoury for sure! (although I need something sweet or sour every now and then)

What are your main inspiration sources?

Random photos, songs, dreams.

Do you have any collections? If so, how large?

Don’t get me started on that one. I have quite a lot of Doctor Who merch and I collected autographs as well as Smurf figures. I also have Charmed trading cards and countless other stuff that I probably don’t need but can’t part with. I also have a feeling I will develop a Funko Pop obsession.

Three things that make you laugh

Buzzfeed, reading my old writing and Daniel Sloss.

Which are your favourite books? (see above)

What books are you looking forward to reading?

Let’s just take a look at my current June TBR for that.

Favourite  TV shows?

The Newsroom, UnREAL, The Royals, Younger, Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars, The Shannara Chronicles, Doctor Who, Sherlock, Misfits, Being Human, Our Girl, Torchwood, Legends of Tomorrow, The 100, Teen Wolf, The Magicians, iZombie, all the Chicago shows … Do you want me to go on? Because I am not even halfway through my list!

Top items on your bucket list.

  • Publish a book
  • Have a say in casting a big blockbuster/book adaptation (not my own, although that would be cool too)
  • Work in an English-speaking country

What would you like to see in a short story?

A conclusion that doesn’t leave me wanting more or needing answers. I am not that picky about the topic.

Lisa’s Questions:

At what age did you start reading for enjoyment?

Always! Seriously, for as long as I can remember, reading was just so much fun. I always wanted to do it.

What’s your favourite book-to-movie adaptation?

The Book Thief, P.S. I Love You, The Notebook, The Book Thief – just to mention a couple.

Which book did you hate so much you couldn’t finish it?

I honestly can’t remember ever truly hating a book. Maybe something for school? My mind is drawing up a blank.

Do you enjoy reading big books (500+ pages) or thinner books?

There’s definitely nothing wrong with longer books, but ever since I started reading like a gazillion books per month, I am more content with books about 300-350 pages long. You can just get to so much more during that time.

In what Hogwarts house have you been sorted?

What’s your second-favourite book?

Intriguing question, but since I couldn’t answer what my favourite is, I also cannot answer that.

What’s a very popular book that you have never read?

Not sure it counts, but I haven’t read the Lunar Chronicles yet, but I intend to do that soon!

Thanks for bearing with me through all those questions! Have a great weekend!

Epically Awesome Award

I kept the seemingly easiest, but in fact not easy at all, award for last. I was nominated by Rae @bookmarkchronicles for the Epically Awesome Award. It sounds fun, but there is always something weird about praising oneself. Still, before I am getting ahead of myself too much, thank you so much for tagging me! It is definitely a fun challenge for me!

The Rules

  • Explain why you are awesome!

Why Am I Awesome?

So, this is a little weird for me. Why exactly am I awesome? When I set my mind on something, I can be really determined and go through with whatever the thing is. I am always willing to work hard for the right cause and I am easily swayed to like a show, book or movie – then I can fangirl over it forever. I’ve heard that my enthusiasm can be contagious and I think that’s what makes me awesome.

I Nominate:

Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much

Cristina @My Tiny Obsessions

Marie @Drizzle and Hurricane Books

Liebster Award

liebster-award (1)

I have lost all sense of perspective in terms of what number of Liebster Award we are currently on. I love getting nominated, but I am terrible at keeping track (as was probably very evident this week …). So, without further ado, big thanks to Holly @Nut Free Nerd for nominating me! I feel terrible for not sticking to the rules at all anymore, but I am simply burnt out on questions! So, instead I am just going to go and answer Holly’s questions and leave it at that. I hope you guys understand! But just for the record, these are the official rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and link their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions the nominator has given you.
  • Nominate 11 bloggers.
  • Think of 11 questions to ask the bloggers you have nominated.
  • Let them know you’ve nominated them through social media or their blog.

The Questions

1. Put your music on shuffle. What are the first five songs that come up?

I haven’t uploaded any new music on my iPod in ages, because I now just have YouTube playing in the background the entire time, so most of these songs will be a little outdated, but whatever. Here we go (you can click on the song to be redirected to YouTube)!

  1. The Impossible Girl by Murray Gold (I wish this would have been planned, but I swear it’s a coincidence!)
  2. Full Moon by The Black Ghosts
  3. Heart Skips a Beat by Olly Murs feat. Rizzle Kicks
  4. A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got) by Fergie feat. Q-Tip and Goonrock
  5. Back to December by Taylor Swift

What an eclectic mix!

2. What’s the last thing that made you laugh really hard?

That’s easy! Single People Get Married for a Week from the Single AF series of Buzzfeed! It is brilliant and hilarious! I love Buzzfeed so much!

3. What’s something you did in 2015 that you’re proud of?

I graduated from uni! YAY! I now have a Bachelor degree of Arts in Business. When people ask me what that means, I can’t really tell them, but I am done with studying and that’s a relief.

4. What’s one thing you hope to accomplish in 2016?

There are a lot of things I want to accomplish. Something that is really near and dear to my heart though is finishing the First Draft of Dreamer and the second rough draft of Break Up Buddy though. Need to get motivation for writing again!

5. Do you enjoy going to concerts? If so, what was the last one you went to?

No. Just big nope. However, I did vow to do things out of my comfort zone this year and I will go to 2 concerts in the near future, but they are with assigned seats, so I am hoping I’ll like that more than getting crushed in a big crowd.

6. What is one of your favorite quotes?

7. What is the weirdest food you like?

I don’t know … I kind of like black pudding and I know that a lot of people don’t.

8. What book has made you cry the hardest?

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak has made me cry SO MUCH! It’s probably the topic in itself, but it really pulled at my heartstrings.

9. What was the best day of your life?

I think it was the day I went to the Doctor Who Experience. I stood there in line and it hit me how full of joy I was, I almost started crying. I only wish that someone had been there with me.

10. What fictional world would you love to live in (or at least spend some time in)?

Wonderland! I imagine it to be great!

11. If you could meet any author (living or dead), who would it be?

I am so torn between Tahereh Mafi and Cassandra Clare, but I guess I will go for the first one.

So, I hope you enjoyed my answers! How would you have responded to some of the questions?

The Infinity Dreams Award

Puh, are you getting tired of these posts yet? I hope not! Today I bring to you the Infinity Dreams Award, for which I was nominated by The Orang-Utan Librarian. Once again, thank your for nominating me and thank you for your patience! You should definitely head over and check out the blog, I have had some awesome discussions with her!

The Rules

  • Thank and follow the blog that nominated you
  • Tell us 11 facts about yourself (Sorry, I am all out of facts :/)
  • Answer the questions that were set for you to answer
  • Nominate 11 bloggers and set questions for them (again, I am sticking to 2 people)

The Questions

  1. What’s the weirdest dream you’ve ever had?
*Goes off and looks at her dream journal*
Last December I was working as a wrapping fairy and wrapped Christmas presents all day long, at night I dreamt that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West came to some sort of mall to get their gifts wrapped by me. They were very impressed with my skills and recommended me everywhere. I then had a condo at a beach somewhere in the world. It all felt very surreal, even though I am not sure that’s really the weirdest thing I’ve ever dreamt.
  2. What’s the most disappointing book you’ve ever read?

Most disappointing sounds so harsh, but I definitely expected a lot more from Red’s Untold Tale. It’s not that the book was bad in itself, but it didn’t really treat the topics it should have or portrayed the character in a different way that I thought was fitting.24397067

  3. What are your biggest book pet peeves?
I don’t like it when people spill stuff on my books, rip pages, write in them, dog ear pages or break the spine if it is not yet broken. All this is probably the reason why people are scared of borrowing them from me, which I am reluctant to do anyway, but all of the mentioned things have already happened to me.
  4. Cats or dogs?
I don’t mind cats, but definitely prefer dogs.
  5. What song makes you happiest?
Hmm … tough one. When I look at my iPod there is mostly very melancholic and moody stuff on there. Somehow Take Your Guess by Tom Rosenthal makes me really happy though, because it makes me feel no matter what I do in life, as long as it was my choice it’s going to be okay. And even when things don’t go as planned, everything will be fine.
  6. What’s your favourite “happy” movie?
John Tucker Must Die? I don’t even know … this is so difficult! It’s a funny movie though. I’ve watched that so many times in my teenage life, I’ve lost count.
  7. Ever met anyone famous?
I have! I just mentioned in my last post that I’ve met Sam Riley. I’ve also met a ton of Ausrian and German actors and directors, because I used to work in the TV and movie industry. Not sure that those are household names in the rest of the world though …
  8. What’s your favourite planet?
I have developed quite the affection for Mars lately, probably because of The Martian and Red Rising.
  9. I dare you to stand up and do the macarena!
Oh my! I’ve forgotten how to do half of the dance …
  10. Not including reading, what’s your favourite thing to do in your spare time?
    Crocheting for sure!
  11. If you could only ever read one book you’ve never read before and one book you have read to read for the rest of your life- what would they be?
Why would anyone ever make me choose something like that? Okay, due to my recent obsession with The Shannara Chronicles, I would want to read The Elfstones of Shannara, because I am really curious about that one. And as for rereading … The Thief Lord maybe? I loved that book when I was little.

My Nominees

Prima @Panda Hearts Books

Reg @She Latitude

My Questions

  1. Do you prefer book to movie adaptations or book to TV adaptations?
  2. Star Trek, Star Wars or neither?
  3. Can you recommend a non-fiction book you liked?
  4. What is your favourite time period and why?
  5. Who is your current OTP?
  6. The bookstore has your favourite book only with the worst cover ever, but it’s your best friends birthday and you know (s)he would love it. Would you still buy it with the terrible cover?
  7. What is a TV show ending you just couldn’t handle?
  8. What book series would you have loved to have seen continued?
  9. Tea, coffee or hot chocolate?
  10. If you could only eat one ice cream flavour for the rest of your life, which one would it be?
  11. What is your favourite smell?

As always, feel free to ignore the nomination if you are not up for it for whatever reason!

Versatile Blogger Award

As we are progressing in award week, we are now at the Versatile Blogger Award, for which I was nominated by Hayley @The Hayley Diaries and Emily @Emily Talks About Books. Thank you both for thinking of me when you tagged people and I am very sorry for taking so much time!

The Rules

  • Show the award on your blog.
  • Thank the person that has nominated you.
  • Share 7 different facts about yourself.
  • Nominate 15 blogs of your choice. (Again, I will nominate 2!)
  • Link your nominees and let them know of your nomination

The Facts

As I’ve mentioned many times before now, finding facts about myself is really difficult. If you want to know something about me, please feel free too ask. I shall answer (almost) any question! However, I am going to do a little spin of the factual thing, just like I did yesterday and I will show you part of my autograph collection. When I was still a little younger, I was really obsessed with wanting to get letters in the mail, but who writes letters these days, right? So, instead I wrote letters to celebrities and I can’t even remember what I wrote, but I got some really cool autographs back. Again, the list is to show you who’s who, just click on the image to see it enlarged.

  1. Aaron Taylor-Johnson from when he was still a lot younger. There was a printed two-pages-long letter included with the autograph, which made me like him even more.
  2. Leighton Meester, because she will always be Queen B!
  3. Rachel McAdams because I just generally like her.
  4. Alex O’Loughlin, who I still associate more with Moonlight than Hawaii-Five-O even after all these years.
  5. Robert Pattinson … I am allowed to have had a Twilight-phase, right? (But seriously, what’s up with the hair?)
  6. Channing Tatum, because I was a fan ever since Step Up!
  7. And lastly not an autograph, but me with Sam Riley, who will be starring in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies soon.

My Nominees

Emma @Emma the Book Lover

Again, if you have been nominated for this already or simply don’t want to do it, I understand and please feel free to just ignore it!

Dragon’s Loyalty Award!

Another day, another award! Thanks to Deanna @A Novel Glimpse, bookloverfob @Books and Other Miracles (who nominate me twice, post 1 here and post 2 here) and Jocelyn @52 Letters in the Alphabet and  who have deemed me worthy, I bring to you the Dragon’s Loyalty Award! They would all deserve to get the award right back because I had some great conversations with all of them, but that’s not really nice award-etiquette. Let’s do this!

The Rules

1. Display the award on your blog.
2. Announce your win with a post and link the blogger who awarded you.
3. Present 6 deserving bloggers with the award. (I am sure that there are a ton of deserving people, but as I’ve made clear. I am nominating 2 people at a time)
4. Link your awardees in the post and let them know of their being awarded.
5. Write seven interesting things about you.

Because this is getting a little boring for me and I am not sure what facts I can even give you about myself anymore, here is some Whovian (meaning Doctor Who related) merch I own or have made myself! You can see the order of the pictures below, just click on them to see them in full detail. Also, I feel like adding that this isn’t even all the Who-stuff I own.

  1. Books & Magazines
  2. “Jewellery”
  3. Games
  4. Adipose Stress Toy
  5. Sonic Screwdriver Collection
  6. Big and small crochet Eleven (self-made)
  7. Eleven pillow and Jack the space sheep pillow (also self-made)
  8. Bonus: Me in a TARDIS

Siblinghood/Sisterhood of the World Bloggers

Today I come to you with the Sisterhood Siblinghood of the World Bloggers and as per usual, I want to apologise for taking so long. Creative Blogger Award

And here we go again! The lovely Anna @My Bookish Dream and Sara @Sara LeTourneau the Writer were kind enough to nominate me for the Creative Blogger Award. Thank you ladies for being patient with me. The posts where I have to come up with facts about myself are always the toughest and I am never sure if I have mentioned something before, but I hope you enjoy getting to know me a little better nonetheless.

The Rules

  1. Thank the person who nominated you and include a link to their blog.
  2. Share 5 facts about yourself.
  3. Nominate some bloggers in return and notify them about their nomination. (Usually 15-20, but I will stick to 2 as per usual)
  4. Keep the rules in your post to make it easy for everyone to know what to do.

The Facts

  1. I have the weirdest dreams and if I can remember them at least a bit, I write them down in my TARDIS dream journal. It’s hilarious and sometimes disturbing to reread some of what my mind has made up.
  2. The first concert I went to was a Good Charlotte concert and I had no idea what to do. It was a little weird …
  3. I have a key chain from the Oregon State University’s Football team even though I haven’t seen a single game of them in my life. Still, go Beavers!
  4. I’ll start a new job in an International Bookstore come February – YAY! Going to be surrounded by books all day long!
  5. When I was little I always wanted a little sister, but as I got older I changed my mind and wanted an older brother. That was sort of difficult to achieve by that time …

SciFi and Scary Book Reviews

Jenna @Reading with Jenna

If you have done this award a couple times already or simply don’t feel like doing it, please feel free to ignore this!

The Sunshine Blogger Award!

It is Day 2 of my award spree and I was nominated by Deanna @A Novel Glimpse for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Thank you so much for tagging me and also for your wonderful questions! I can’t wait to answer them, but first things first.

The Rules

  1. Answer the 11 questions from the blogger who nominated you.
  2. Nominate some wonderful bloggers. (again, I will stick to 2 people)
  3. Write 11 questions for them.

The Questions

1.If you had to give each of the following people a book, what books would you give them: a child, your best friend, your mom and your significant other?
Any of the Felix books. There’s nothing better than a travelling bunny who sends letters!
My best friend: The Night Circus
My mom: Water for Elephants
My (non-existent) significant other: The Martian (If they don’t like it, I am not sure I could be with them … I am not even sure if I am kidding)

2. If you could be friends with someone famous who would it be and why?
There are so many famous people who seem like a lot of fun to be around, but I don’t think I would want someone super famous. Then you are just bound to end up in the tabloids by association. Can I say two people? Because they hang out together all the time anyway! I want to be friends with Alexandra Park and Tom Austen! They are massive friendship goals!

3. Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera?
Christina Aguilera!

4. What is the weirdest topic you’ve ever discussed at a holiday meal?
I don’t know … I suppose my family is weird, but not in a sense that I would notice? Sorry for the boring answer!

5. What is your favorite board game?
I was really obsessed with Cluedo and Monopoly when I was little, so either one of those is fun. Did you know that there is a Sherlock version of Cluedo and a Doctor Who version of Monopoly? I actually own the latter and it is awesome!

6. If you could co-author a book with someone who would it be and what would your story be about?
I was going to say Pierce Brown, because it would just be amazing to be close to him, but since I haven’t actually finished any of his books yet, that doesn’t seem like the right answer. Instead I want to say Tahereh Mafi, because I love her style of writing and now about the topic … maybe I can get her interested in my idea about Dreamer and then she would put a unique spin on it that would transform the story into something amazing!

7. Name your favorite band and what book you would like them to create a soundtrack for.
I am currently obsessed with BANNERS and I guess I don’t really care what book they would make the soundtrack for, but right now I could really see them do something for the Firebird series by Claudia Gray.

8. Who is your favorite person to talk books with?
Cristina, Cátia, Marie and all the other book bloggers! But if I had to pick a non-virtual person, then I’d say my cousin Julia.

9. What was the last book someone recommended to you that you loved and what was it?
Cristina, whom I just mentioned above, has sent me her copy of Carry On and I loved it so, so much. Click here to read my review of it!

10. Do you review all of the books you read? Why or why not?
Nope. I try to review as many as I can, but sometimes I just don’t feel like I can really say much about it at all. Or if it’s poetry, I don’t even try. Also, I have reservations about reviewing something when I have very negative feelings about it, because you can say it if you don’t like something, but you shouldn’t be rude, and that’s not always easy.

11. Would you ever rate a book on Goodreads before you read it? If so, why?
, because how can I rate something if I haven’t actually taken a look at it yet?

My Nominees

Holly @Nut Free Nerd
