All Hallows Write Tag – AGAIN!

Soooo, I am bringing this back! As a lot of you know, I have created a number of write tags myself. They are incredibly helpful in delving into the mindset of your characters as you answer questions on behalf of them. I’ve tried to create them for various occasions and seasons, but the All Hallows Write Tag is not a creation of my own. It took me a while to find the original creator (forgive me for not tagging them the first time I did this!), but you can see Sam Kassé‘s post here.

  • Provide a short description of your story!
I was debating about which project to talk about today, because as you know there are many! However, the one I am most focused on right now and am trying to prep for NaNoWriMo some more is the Football WIP (yes, it still doesn’t have a title). And since it doesn’t have a title, it also doesn’t have a polished blurb. Sorry about what comes next:
After a devastating loss, teenager Ivy moves to her estranged family in a small town in Texas. All she wants is to get through school as fast as possible and start over away from everything and everyone she knows, but this town has other plans. She never intended to get mixed up in the lives of the local Football team, who are worshiped like heroes in the community, but soon their drama becomes hers. If she can face her grief and guilt, she might just be able to find a new family in them.
  • Don’t use the same character for more than 3 answers!

It’s Halloween night! What is your protagonist dressed up as?

I think the whole Football team would get an easy group costume. They’d want something easy that wouldn’t require massive effort (at least for the majority of them), so, I say they’d go as Football player zombies.

As for Ivy, the real protagonist and narrator, I don’t think she would go all out now that she has moved to Eden. Back in Portland, with her friends, she put in more effort, but not now. She’d likely get a cheap wig, put some fake blood on a dress she has no use for anymore and go as victim #27, just so Landon (her 10-year-old cousin) wouldn’t be too bummed when she took him trick or treating.

Who in your cast refuses to dress up and shows up at the Halloween party without a costume?

I honestly can’t see anyone downright refusing to dress up. Maybe the adults would only put on a hat or something, but out of the characters that I actively mention on the regular, they’d all do something.

Which character wears the most outrageous costume, and what would it be?

My mind immediately went to Isaac! He is a quirky dude and I could totally see him going as a demigorgan or some other ridiculously intricate monster. He’d be way overdressed, sweating and still dancing his ass off anyway at a Halloween party.

On Halloween, werewolves, vampires, and zombies are on the prowl. Which of your characters gets caught in their clutches, and which creature do they subsequently turn into?

The whole theme of my novel is that Ivy gets caught up in something she had no intention of getting caught up in, so … her? And just because I said earlier that the Football team would go collectively as zombies, I’m gonna bring this full circle and say they turn into real zombies and then turn her!

Who wins the contest for best costume?

Even though I feel like Isaac would deserve it due to putting so much effort in, it’s probably more of a popularity contest in the end and someone like Gina (who is the sweetest and head cheerleader) would get it. She was dressed as Liz Ortecho in her Crashdown uniform, because she thinks they look alike and aliens are fun but not scary.

Who hands out toothbrushes to the trick and treaters?

Laurie – 100%!! But Hal would be right there with her and sneak the kids something else before they left, but not candy, cause he did not think ahead of getting any. He knows she means well, but he can’t just let his wife sour the mood.

Which two of your characters decide to pair up and do an angel/devil costume together?

Liv and Dusty? Carter and Taylor? I don’t knoooow. The more fun version would definitely be Taylor and Carter. They are best buds, and Carter is the town’s golden boy, whereas Taylor is the screw up in comparison. They could switch roles for a night or embrace their perceived images. Whatever floats their boat.

Someone is too scared to even attend the Halloween party. Who is it?

Dustin might be an option here, but not because he is scared of Halloween, and instead because he is having a tough time with the social judgment going on in town. He just doesn’t want to expose himself to all the stares and whispers, my poor baby boy.

Who overdoses on Halloween candy and ends up sick?

Lando – cause he is a kid and has no restraint!

Which character is most likely to place a curse/hex on someone and who would they curse?

Right now, I just imagine Liv inviting all the girls over and they’d get into some sort of Light as a Feather kind of trouble and … it wouldn’t be intentional, but Liv would definitely be the one who messed up something that would set off the trouble.

I don’t know who of my lovely writing buddies is currently up for the challenge, so this tag is up for grabs! Don’t hesitate to link back to my post, so I can see your answers too!

If you are interested in more write tags, here’s a list of the ones I created:

What did you think of my answers? Would you like more updates on my writing, especially with NaNoWriMo around the corner? Let’s talk!

The Milestones Write Tag

I haven’t done one of my infamous Write Tags in while and I know that at least some of my fellow writers on the blogosphere like doing them quite a bit. So this is your opportunity to explore your characters a bit more in depth, as I will do with my current WIP by answering the questions about Milestones as well. I miss talking about Arcadia (in case you are new to the blog – welcome! All the infos on Arcadia can be found here), because it’s my baby and I still have so much story to tell, but I know that the updates have been scarce. I just want you to know that you have all been amazingly helpful with your lovely feedback and reactions on Twitter and Wattpad. It’s such a motivation for me and seeing the number of views go up to 700 made my heart sing. There’s more coming soon – I promise!

  • Thank the person who tagged you but also link back to the original post(I want to see all your lovely answers, people!)
  • Provide a short description of your WIP/story!
Kasia and Dyson have known each other their entire lives, their paths intertwining at every crossroad. So forgetting he ever existed doesn’t make any sense to Kasia and neither does finding out about the magical beings that took him away from her. Now, with the help of some allies with motives of their own, she will do everything she can to get him back, not knowing if either one of them will ever be the same after all is said and done.
You can check out this post to find out more about Arcadia!
  • Don’t use just one character for all answers if possible! (We want to get to know as many of your characters as possible)

Can your Main Character (MC) remember their first day of school? Who was with them?

Kasia remembers her first day of school as if it had been yesterday. She was nervous as heck, because despite being an inquisitive child who loved to learn, she didn’t know what to expect of all the new people who were about to enter her life. Having been neighbors with Dyson’s family all her life, they went to school together and all her worries evaporated when Dyson confidently took her hand and walked right into school with her without even taking a look back at his parents or brothers.

Which one of your characters would be the first to buy a house or property? (because that’s part of adulting??)

Georgie? She kind of already has a house. Not sure if she paid money for it or if it there was some other kind of transaction though … because magic?

Does someone in your WIP own a pet?

NOT YET! Someone needs a dog. (And no, I am not counting the Claven as Dyson’s “pets” because they are a herd of calm yet mind-controlling beasts …)

What was your MCs first job and how did they feel about it?

While Kasia volunteered at her local library for years during school, her first paying job was a summer internship at her mother’s work. It was a very forgettable experience that mostly involved distributing mail, operating the copy machine and getting coffee for meetings.

Dyson’s first job was at the summer camp he and both his brothers visited each year. He was pretty pumped because he loved being around people and planning activities outdoors. To no one’s surprise at all, he soon became a favourite among the staff and kids.

Does your MC or another character want kids?

That conversation has definitely happened between my main couple and they would love to have kids someday in the future, with Kasia being especially in favour of adoption or fostering kids as well.

Name a song that reminds one of your characters of heartbreak in their life!

This song is one Robyn listens to a lot after Chapter 9 wishing things were different … (shout out to anyone who understands what I am referencing here!)

Has one of your characters lost someone close to them? How did they deal with it?

Findlay had to grow up without his parents, but being from the world he was from, he never quite knew if he lost them for good or if he might be able to see them again one day some way. He was a quiet kid until he got taken in by Georgie’s family and he felt at home with them. (There’s more to that story that I just don’t want to spoil.)

What is an achievement your MC is proud of?

Dyson is especially proud of graduating from university with a major in Archaeology because his family didn’t really think he would truly stick to that field or be able to make a living with it. Nonetheless, they all beamed at him with pride when he showed them his diploma and he never regretted following his passion since.

BONUS: Make an aesthetic for a special or memorable day in one of your character’s lives! (It’s up to you if you want to explain it or not!)

This probably won’t be in the book like ever, but if I ever write a companion novella or something like that for Arcadia, this would probably be the story. Although it might end differently than you think!

I hope you liked the tag and if you did, please, spread the word!!! People have so many amazing stories to tell and I hope this is a burst of motivation for all fellow writers.

The Character Dating Profile

The Orangutan Librarian was mighty creative during a procrastination streak and created this awesome tag called The Character Dating Profile. You get to choose any character you like and then create their dating profile. I LOVED the idea immediately, it’s just that the picking of a character wasn’t easy at all. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CHOOSE ONE OF MY BABIES!? In the end I went with my darling August from This Savage Song. I just love the guy!

  1. Link back to the creator The Orangutan Librarian
  2. Answer as your/a character
  3. Have fun!

❤️ Name ❤️

August Flynn

❤️ Age ❤️

(Talking about his age is SUPER difficult. The guy just plopped into existence and was 7 or something!)

❤️ Interested in ❤️

Uhm … humans?

❤️ Looks ❤️

Black hair, tall-ish, DEFINITELY no coal black eyes. I have no idea where you could possibly have heard that from! Also, tattoos – but they aren’t permanent … unfortunately.

❤️ Religious views ❤️

If there is some higher power he/she has failed us big time …

❤️ Greatest ambition ❤️

Finding purpose in life.

❤️ Favourite Hobby ❤️

Playing the violin.
*is asked to give a little taste of his music*

❤️ Three BEST Skills ❤️

Judging people’s character, playing the violin, staying unnoticed.

❤️ Ideal Partner ❤️

Someone sharp and reliable. Someone who doesn’t judge preemptively.

❤️ Perfect Date ❤️

I wouldn’t take my date to a restaurant, but rather go somewhere quiet

So, that was it! I think I answered that more in my voice than August’s … but he’s gonna have to live with that now. Not sure it will ever get him a date though. Oh well, time for someone else to try their hand at this! I TAG EVERYONE who wants to do this, but also some specific people to keep the ball rolling!

Top Ten Tuesday: Male Historical/Futuristic Characters

This week’s topic is really difficult for me. Beforehand: Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish, if you want to know more about it, you can just click on the name!

So, we were supposed to list places in the past or future that we would like to visit, but I don’t want to do that. I love electricity and decent hygienic standards, so most the past sort of falls flat … and the future? I don’t know about you, but a lot of the futuristic books I read are dystopians with people dying left and right. I WOULDN’T STAND A CHANCE! So, instead I am going to list characters from the past and the future that I would like to meet and they are all going to be boys because I want them to be. Easy as that and it makes much more sense to me!

Darrow – Red Rising

I think my obsession with Red Rising/Golden Son has shown through the past couple of weeks. I ADORE THESE BOOKS! Darrow is a great main character with many flaws. He seems real and someone I would want to follow into battle … maybe … I am not much for fighting, but I have a feeling he might be able to spark that in me.

Bellamy – The 100

I LOVE BELLAMY. There is so much more goodness to him and a certain leader quality than meets the eye. I am obviously talking about TV Bellamy, because I am not sure how I feel about book-Bellamy. He changed his mind in a matter of seconds and I hated that.

Jay Gatsby – The Great Gatsby

There is just something about him. I don’t even think that I particularly like him, but I like the idea of him. The determination and drive behind his actions! Also, he’s from the 20s – a glorious time!

Max Vandenburg – The Book Thief

He is one of my favourite people ever and if we ever meet, I would want him to have the best day ever. He’s so kind and smart and brave! We’d do a lot of star gazing I think. Do something in the fresh air! I’d dig that.

Paul – A Thousand Pieces of You

There are a couple of Paul’s I could choose from, but I think I want to meet Russian guard-Paul most of all of them, simply because he was the one we got to know most. (And I will continue to imagine him looking like Nico Tortorella simply because I can!)

Marco – The Night Circus

Marco is another example for someone from the past. The Night Circus is amazing and he is part of the reason for that. (And again, I am just casting him the way I want to … and because I am a massive fan of Aaron Taylor-Johnson!)

Henry Tilney – Northanger Abbey

Persuasion is actually my favourite Austen book (not meaning that I have read all of her novels), but I just love JJ Feild. This one maybe just made it into the list because I love JJ Feild … yep, pretty sure that’s it. But there was some fun bantering with Tilney.

Edmond – How I Live Now

Granted by the end of the story he might not be in the best of places (WWIII sure wasn’t fun …), but I think he is such a unique person. Depending on when in his timeline I would meet him, our get together would go very differently. Either it would be a lot of bonding and chatting or silence from his side and me getting emotional. I guess I could run with both somehow.

Maxon – The Selection Series

There is not much about the Selection series that I really love, but Maxon is great. I was angry about him being indecisive, then again, I also got it because America was just as indecisive, but for all the wrong reasons.

Finnick – The Hunger Games Series

I just love the guy! I want him around all the time. He could have had his own book if not for an entirely stupid turn of events!

What does your TTT look like? What do you think of mine? Leave a link below and I will gladly check out your list!
