Chicago Fire Season 4 Premiere

Chicago Fire is back and that means one by one my favourite franchise is becoming complete again. I already showed you a little Preview and First Look (including Spoilers for the entire Season) in a previous post – click here to check it out! Otherwise, let’s continue with the Season 4 Premiere!

Okay everyone, you should know how this works by now, but I still feel obliged to say it every single time. We pick up right at the same moment the last episode ended, but there is so much going on each episode that I just break it down into characters and my thoughts for their storylines. Spoilers ahead!

  • Gabby and Casey – I think everyone wants to know what’s going on with them. Well, Gabby was really worried after finding dead Katya, but Antonio got to Casey in time. He’s changed and now has a more violent/impulsive streak, but after Gabby was in danger during one of the fires, he FINALLY realised that he just wants to be with her. So, in the last seconds of the episode he goes to Molly’s to tell her how he feels and she’s super happy and that’s when she tells him that she’s pregnant and they hug.
I am so glad it happened this way around and not him wanting to get back together after she told him about the pregnancy. Now I don’t feel like they just got back together for the baby. But throughout the episode you could see how much Dawson was struggling as a firefighter and probably wanting to stay one.
  • As announced, Severide got demoted and I was super mad on his behalf! I think he is handling this a lot calmer than expected, but definitely still not well. I just think it’s so unfair, because while the turnover rate on Squad may be high, that surely isn’t his fault. I am so worried about him, because he wants to leave Firehouse 51 and I am NOT okay with that. I hope that Cruz could dissuade him from that idea.
Also, we got to meet his new love interest, who he meets at his management training course. They hooked up already, but I read something about complications on the way, so I don’t think it will last.
  • Dallas Patterson, the new Captain replacing Sev, seemed really nice. I wanted to like him and not resent him, because after all it’s not his fault that Sev got demoted. However, by the end of the episode I didn’t particularly like him, especially not because he told Sev that he HAD to show up at his boat for a mandatory group thing. Just give the guy some space to breathe and digest what happened!
  • The new recruit Jimmy totally blew it! He came off like some stupid frat boy and that’s not what Firehouse 51 needs. I am glad he apologized in the end, but he will have to do some serious growing up. I am however interested to see if there’s really something going to happen between him and Chili – she definitely thinks he’s hot.
  • Will Halstead once more got to make an appearance and it makes me so impatient for Chicago Med! Chili and Brett had a really heartbreaking case and they asked for his help to find out about the fate of a patient.
  • The fire the firehouse had to attend to was something different too this week. I can’t believe those people are suing the firehouse even though they were the ones delaying them and causing the death of one of their neighbors. I was really disappointed in humanity on this one. I mean, how can they be so irresponsible?
  • I can see a lot of trouble for Molly’s coming because of the new neighbors

So, that pretty much sums it all up. What did you think?

Arrow Season 4 Premiere

So, the Arrow is back! I’ve already posted a First Look including Spoilers for the entire Season a couple of weeks ago, click here to read that. But right now, let’s take a look at the episode 1 of Season 4! (If you haven’t watched it yet, this obviously also includes Spoilers!)

The Season starts with Oliver and Felicity in domestic bliss, while everything goes really badly in Star City. As usual, let’s break it down into characters:

  • Oliver wants to propose to Felicity! That was like the best news in my opinion. They are really happy together, if only it wasn’t so boring in the suburbs. Oli’s proposal attempt failed when Thea and Laurel showed up to ask for help. You can see that with them being back in the city, their relationship will also change. For now he has put the engagement off, but I don’t think it’s forever.
  • Thea is out of control! I mean we all knew the Lazarus Pit would take a toll, but she is so aggressive and doesn’t even have a problem with it!
  • Diggle‘s helmet has not fully convinced me yet. However, I do get his lingering animosity with Oliver. He was his best friend and he betrayed him, that’s just not cool. Still, he needs to let it go! They need to be a team now and Oliver is trying. He knows that he can’t call all the shots anymore.
  • Damien Darhk is scary af! He has some sort of mystical blood-magic powers which make him super strong, possibly telekinetic and allow him to kill people by touch. That is freaky! He has a Hive that works for him and that instantly rang a bell for Diggle. I wish he would have told the others about having heard about it before. He can’t be mad at Oliver for keeping secrets and then keep something big like this from the others as well – that’s just him being a hypocrite.
  • Big shocker to me was that Captain Lance is seemingly in it with Darhk. Okay, okay, he has no choice, but that is still a really bad image in my mind …
  • Flashbacks: you know I am not a huge fan of those, but they are now about how Oliver got trapped on the island again.
  • Flashforwards: this apparently confused a lot of people and I can tell you it was a real shocker to me as well! Just to clarify though, the season will not continue from this point onwards. It was a look at the future and we will get there before the Season Finale. However, the Arrow bosses refuse to give any clues about who’s grave Oliver and Barry were standing at. They also won’t mention when the death will occur during the Season in order not to spoil it. That is fair enough but I do wonder who will die. Apparently the person, whoever they are, won’t be revived but is dead for good. I have this bad gut feeling that it’s Felicity, but that would ruin the show for me … I so hope I am wrong!
  • In other news: Oli is now officially the Green Arrow. While people still believe Ray is dead, Felicity is the CEO of Palmer Tech. Also, the Flash Day was mentioned. And greatest sentence ever: “Felicity Smoak, you have failed this omelette.”

So, where you as shocked as I was in the end? Any thoughts you want to add? I think it was really mean of them to do that …

Sherlock 2015 Christmas Special Trailer

I don’t even want to get into this in any sort of detail. Clearly, I am looking forward to it, because well, it’s Sherlock! Need I say more?

However, I am confused about the time-thing. Why is it set in the past? I liked having it in the present, it was one of my favourite things about the show. I am sure that I won’t hate it just because of that, but it means that the real storyline won’t advance much I guess … I hate that the show is always on hiatus and I get that everyone is really busy, but would it kill them to release something more often than every 3 years?

Okay – rant off! What are your thoughts on this?

Chicago PD Season 3 Premiere

FINALLY I had time to watch Chicago PD. Even though I like binging the Chicago Franchise, I can’t really do that because I get confused with all the crossovers. So, I just watch it week by week, which is still pretty awesome. Let’s do this! are coming!

A lot went down in the first episode and I was hoping for a really Jay-centered episode, but since he was abducted for most of the time, that wasn’t really that much the case. However, once again, I’ll be breaking it down into what each of the different characters did/felt/thought/whatever you want to call it:

  • Jay couldn’t believe that Erin would leave him. It wasn’t about romance, it was about her being his partner and not even having the decency to tell him that she quit to his face. It leads to him confronting her after a night of partying and him pretty much giving up on her – her last champion walking away. I have to say, I was really pissed at Erin lately. She pushed away EVERYONE who cares about her and for what? To take some pills with good ol’ mum? I am glad she stepped up and came to Jay’s rescue when he was kidnapped and he was so happy that it was her who came for him.
On another note, I know that Linstead is endgame, but I kind of want a break from their romance and them maybe pursuing someone other than each other? I can already see the Linstead fans coming for me for that statement …
  • I am also glad that Voight is not making it easy on Erin. His conditions are valid and she needs to cut ties with her mum if she wants her badge back for good. But he has made some odd choices himself in the episode. I have a bad feeling about prison Eddie.
  • Olinski is so clueless when it comes to handling his daughter. We know that he can be good with female teens, so why is he so counter-intuitive when it comes to her? That girl is in trouble and he better man up and help her.
  • Platt wants to plan the Burzek wedding – that is just brillant.
  • Attwater will be Adam’s best man for the wedding. I so thought he’d ask Olinski, but I don’t know why.
  • I can see conflict ahead for Burzek. Aside from Roman messing with Burgess head a little, there was also the fact that Adam didn’t want Burgess on the Intelligence case because it was too dangerous. She knows that the job comes with danger and she accepts that her fiancé is in certain precarious situations a lot of the time. I think they could butt heads over that topic. Is it really a new issue though?
  • Burgess saw a syringe in Roman‘s backpack. What the heck was that about? I don’t think it has anything to do with drugs, they have Lindsay for that story, but I have no idea what else it could be about. Diabetes? Accidentally taking it with him from Sylvie’s place (even though it still doesn’t make sense for a medic to have that stuff lying around?)
  • Lastly, we get another tease for the Chicago Med connection, with Will Halstead drinking with the CPD guys at Molly’s and saying that Jay will be fine.

Any thoughts or theories for the new season? I think most storylines have been set up nicely so far. Mainly I am just glad to have the show back!

Black Sails Season 3 First Look

Black Sails is returning on January 3 and is one of the shows I am looking forward to in early 2016.

After the incident at Charles Town, the new world is terrified of Flint. It falls in the hands of John Silver to keep him under control though and from what we can see in the trailer, the man has turned bitter himself. (Who can blame him after last season?) Meanwhile, Eleanor is in prison and Rackham tries to control Nassau. A new threat will appear in the shape of Blackbeard, who people have been anticipating on the show for a while now. There are of course also some shots of Vane, Billy Bones, Max and Anne Bonny – just take a look at it yourself! I think it looks awesome.

I don’t really want to think too much about what is going to happen, I am just looking forward to the title music starting and getting sucked back into the craziness of Nassau. Well, I would like to see my two favourite schemers, Max and John Silver, reunited again, but who knows if that’s going to happen. They both have their own stuff going on.

The show has already been renewed for Season 4, so YAY! (even if that is not very pirate-y) I loved how it ended last time and if they can keep up the awesomeness, I am not worried about them continuing for two more.

Thoughts anyone?

Fall Review: Blindspot & Minority Report

It’s that time of the year again – a ton of shows are starting and my TV schedule will be close to bursting. As per usual I am trying to review as many shows as possible. But because of the sheer quantity of shows, I’ll keep the reviews rather short. You’ll get the gist of it!

Blindspot

Network: NBC
Cast: Jaimie Alexander, Sullivan Stapleton, Audrey Esparza, Rob Brown, Kelly Aaron, Caliph Jones, Michael Gaston, CJ Parson, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Ukweli Roach, …

As the trailer above shows quite well, Blindspot is about a woman with tons of tattoos but no memory. My first impression was that it looks really good, but in the end the pilot didn’t blow me away. Jaimie Alexander definitely has it down to look really scared and confused while being fierce to no end. However, the situation is just not that believable. I just can’t get it into my head that a federal agency would let a civilian with amnesia tag along and their lack of control over said person is frightening. I mean they just let her wander around and get into all sorts of trouble.

Also, I am afraid the show will have a sort of villain-of-the-week-theme and that can get boring easily. Nonetheless, the concept is still interesting and I’ll definitely continue to check it out for a couple of more episodes. After all, I do want to know what’s up with those mysterious tattoos.

Minority Report

Network: FOX
Cast: Stark Sands, Meagan Good, Nick Zano, Wilmer Valderrama, Laura Regan, …

So, obviously this show is connected to the movie of the same title. It takes place 10 years after the end of Precrime and focuses on one of the PreCogs who has difficulties adjusting to “normal” life.

I have watched the movie, but it’s been a while. Still, I think it was a mistake to set the show after Precrime has already been abolished. There is none of the moral dilemma as to whether it makes sense to arrest someone before they’ve actually committed a crime, because this time around it is all about catching the bad guys on time. Now it is just yet another cop show and the acting wasn’t really that breathtaking either.

Aside from FOX having a track record of cancelling sci-fi shows pretty fast, I have decided for myself that I won’t continue with that show, because it just didn’t really hit home with me.

What are your thoughts? Are you going to watch Blindspot or Minority Report?

Downton Abbey Season 6 Premiere

So, the beginning of the end has started. As announced in my post about the Trailer for Season 6 of Downton Abbey, this will be the final season. If you haven’t watched the first episode of Season 6 yet, then beware of Spoilers!!

I don’t see the point of really reviewing the episode as such. I’ve always liked the pace and writing of Downton Abbey and I was glad to see that not much has changed in that department. Except for the fact that we are now already in the year 1925, it seems the show will approach the final season in its usual charming and calm style. My heart swells every time I hear the title theme and I am just so happy to have the show back. (Also, I am not giving up on the possible sequels in the shape of movies!). So, instead you’ll get a recap of what is going on with the different characters and my thoughts about it:

  • Times are changing and even the family at Downton can’t deny that. They need less and less staff and see their friends giving up on their estates altogether. I suppose this is foreshadowing of what we can expect to happen to Lord Grantham as well, seen as society is evolving and classes are broken down.
  • Thomas was so adorable with little George and Marigold. He gives them piggyback rides and entertains them the whole day. I am always happy to see a kinder and softer side of him.
  • Right in the beginning Mary gets blackmailed by a maid from the hotel where she had her little indiscretion. It is all handled by the Lord himself, who pays the lady and even acquires a signed confession. Mary is really lucky that her parents handle things like that for her, but it all just boils down to her not wanting to get with a man she doesn’t truly love. So, I am guessing that this season will be devoted to finding the right person for her.
  • Edith struggles with people not taking her serious as the owner of the newspaper and she’s currently considering moving to London. She sort of lives in the shadow of Mary at Downton, so I think it would be great for her to go her own way. However, I would be missing her at the estate. She’s really grown on me over the years, considering that I didn’t like her at all in the beginning.
  • Ms Hughes and Carson still haven’t set a date for their wedding, because Ms Hughes is afraid of the physical aspect of their relationship as soon as they’re married. But Carson handles it all great! Those two are an amazing couple and it is only sad to think that it took them so long to really get together.
  • At first it seems that Anna and Bates are still not happy, even though they would so deserve it. The unresolved issue with Anna’s rape charges weighs heavy on them and it seems that Anna has troubles getting pregnant. Bates is, as always, the perfect husband and reassures her in every way possible. By the end of the episode they hear that there’s finally a witness found and that Anna is safe. The whole house celebrates and they are happy for a bit, but I guess that the baby-topic will remain a subject in following episodes.
  • Lady Grantham and Ms Crowley are fighting over the future of the hospital and the Doc gets in the middle of it. Those two really have one of the most fun relationships on the show!
  • Mr Mason is about to loose his farm and Daisy strongly voices her opinion. It’s amazing to see how much she has changed and that she’s now truly standing up for what she believes (even if it gets her in trouble sometimes).
  • Ms Denkers is mean as always, spreading rumours among the staff and I actually wouldn’t mind if Lady Grantham let her go.
  • Since Tom and Rose are both currently in America, they were only mentioned in the episode. I missed them both dearly and hope that they’ll make a final appearance towards the end!

So, what did you make of the Season 6 Premiere? Who’s story are you most looking forward to this season?
