Kiss, Marry, Kill – Marvel Edition

In honor of the upcoming release of Avengers: Endgame, I am breaking with tradition and am doing a Kiss, Marry, Kill tag outside of Valentine’s Day. Just in case, you don’t know what this tag includes, it’s about pitting three people against each other and me having to decide who, in this specific scenario, I would rather kiss, marry or kill.

This specific edition is based on Swetlana @The Caffeinated Bookworm Life‘s post! (She did a Fuck, Marry, Kill, but whatever …) We first bonded over our mutual love for Sebastian Stan, so when she did a Kiss, Marry, Kill for the actors and actresses of the Marvel franchise, I was all in (especially since I didn’t 100% agree with her choices). I hope this will be fun for everyone! Here we go:

Round 1: Danai Gurira, Brie Larson, Sebastian Stan

Kiss: Brie Larson – *starts singing* Hello again, friend of a friend, I knew you when our common goal was waiting for the world to end … I thought she was badass since Scott Pilgram vs. the world.
Marry: Sebastian Stan – I can’t get rid of the dream I once had for two consecutive weeks where I dreamt we worked together and then also started dating. I practically had a second life with him.
Kill: Danai Gurira – I have no reason for this. I really like Danai and would not have killed anyone this round if it had been an option.

Round 2: Anthony Mackie, Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans

Kiss: Anthony Mackie – I have no particular reasoning for this.
Marry: Chris Evans – Okay, the man seems like he has Peter Pan syndrome and I have a Wendy syndrome. We’d be a good fit. Also, he has a dog and that’s a plus in my heart any day.
Kill: Jeremy Renner – I also have no particular reasoning for this either, I am even a little sad.

Round 3: Gwyneth Paltrow, Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana

Kiss: Bradley Cooper – A Star Is Born has elevated him in my eyes again.
Marry: Zoe Saldana – Zoe is brilliant and gorgeous and why not?
Kill: Gwyneth Paltrow – I just don’t really care for her?

Round 4: Robert Downey Jr., Paul Rudd, Letitia Wright

Kiss: Letitia Wright – *shrugs* that’s just the way it is.
Marry: Paul Rudd – He seems like an honest, fun sweetheart and I have a type. That’s it. Sweet people are awesome.
Kill: Robert Downey Jr. – I just don’t think I could handle him in his full glory!??!?!

Round 5: Jake Gyllenhaal, Jude Law, Chris Hemsworth

Kiss: Jude Law – There’s a reason Dumbledore got hot the second he was played by Jude Law.
Marry: Chris Hemsworth – I would love to be with someone who talks about me with the love and affection Chris Hemsworth displays when he talks about his wife. So, I’d want to be his wife. (sound logic!)
Kill: Jake Gyllenhaal – I am sure he is a cool guy too? He just was left at the end …

Round 6: Tom Hiddleston, Winston Duke, Mark Ruffalo

Kiss: Winston Duke – what was it? M’Baku can blow m’back out?
Marry: Mark Ruffalo – Mark once stopped in his car to ask the sister of a friend, who was crying on the street, if she was alright and/or needed help. He is a truly good person and who wouldn’t want to marry someone like him!?
Kill: Tom Hiddleston – How did I get here? I adore Tom but the whole TSwift stunt was a misstep.

Round 7: Michael B. Jordan, Elizabeth Olsen, Chris Pratt

Kiss: Michael B. Jordan – What a man!
Marry: Elizabeth Olsen – I adore that woman! She is forever one of the people I’d like to meet and befriend and spend time with.
Kill: Chris Pratt – He already is dating someone named Kat who has a connection to Austria. Let’s not meddle with that since she’s obviously not me.

Round 8: Tessa Thompson, Tom Holland, Evangeline Lilly

Kiss: Tom Holland – He always seems so young, but he isn’t though? Right?
Marry: Tessa Thompson – Tessa is so cool and amazing and an icon. I am into it.
Kill: Evangeline Lilly – I have no real connection to her?

Round 9: Chadwick Boseman, Hayley Atwell, Benedict Cumberbatch

Kiss: Hayley Atwell – surprisingly, I don’t really care much for this round.
Marry: Chadwick Boseman – Chadwick is cool, but he seems so tired of his Black Panther fame.
Kill: Benedict Cumberbatch – I mean, he isn’t Sherlock in real life, so I don’t know where to put him.

Round 10: Scarlett Johansson, Lupita Nyong’o, Karen Gillan

Kiss: Lupita Nyong’o – Lupita is glorious like the sun and she personally made sure to be included in the film adaptation of Trevor Noah’s “Born a Crime” and I admire that.
Marry: Karen Gillan – Karen is one of my favourite people ever since she was Amy Pond on Doctor Who and I also like her as Nebula and she did an amazing job with her directorial debut, even if it furthered a depressive spiral. I did a post on movies she is in, so yeah, I’d marry her!
Kill: Scarlett Johansson – I realise she lead the way for female heroes within the Marvel universe, but for some reason I don’t particularly like her.

Okay, it was a little weirder than I thought it would be to do this for the actors/actresses rather than their characters, but what do you think? Can you relate to my choices or do you think I am insane? Both? Neither? Let’s chat!

Kiss, Marry, Kill: TV Edition

You all know, we’ve done this before! There was the book edition, the TV & book edition and this beautiful Valentine’s Day we are focusing on TV alone. I was even too lazy to make a new graphic, but that’s the beauty of this tag and this tradition … it still doesn’t get old. (At least I hope so!?!?!)

As always, this is also your yearly reminder that Valentine’s Day should not make you feel bad about yourself if you are single. I’ve never spent that day with anyone in particular and I am just fine! This day is just as much as about self love, if you choose it to be, so – be a little kinder to that face in the mirror today!

**all names and shows were randomly drawn**

ROUND 1

Kiss: Sutton (The Bold Type) – I don’t really have an explanation for this? Out of these three characters I feel the most neutral about Sutton??

Marry: Gert (Marvel’s Runaways) – Everyone who knows me, knows that I love Gert. I think marriage could be kind of exhausting with her, but she is fierce and not to be messed with and doing the best she can in a tough spot and I love her for that.

Kill: Manfred (Midnight, Texas) – Given how often he has been possessed by ghosts now … maybe he should just join them?

ROUND 2

Kiss: Marcy (Travelers) – Marcy is so pretty and cool, but also from the future with a very high intellect and I am not sure how I’d feel being with her for longer? So a kiss it is.

Marry: Michael (Roswell, New Mexico) – Michael is a broken boy, but I love him. He brings out the silly “I want to save THIS particular bad boy and love him forevermore”-feels in me.

Kill: Otis (Sex Education) – I am so sorry! Otis is like a precious bean, but he’s also so young and I can’t imagine dating him either??

ROUND 3

Kiss: Nick (The Handmaid’s Tale) – he is one handsome devil. Nick isn’t a bad man, but he is also not a good one. I credit that to the world he lives in, but I’d rather just have a brief encounter with him.

Marry: Jules (Imposters) – that woman has been through some heartbreak, but I am sure I could be the stable environment she needs. I am super trustworthy. Also, I always wanted to make a con artist fall in love with me. It’s a whole thing.

Kill: Elsa (Plan Coeur) – I never know how to explain the “kill” decisions, because Elsa is such an awkward mess that I super relate to her, but together we’d be terrible.

ROUND 4

Kiss: Matthew (A Discovery of Witches) – I am sort of over vampires, but … Matthew intrigues me. I’d like to know what a kiss feels like.

Marry: Alan (Russian Doll) – he was one of my favourite parts of the brilliance that was Russian Doll. He has his issues, just like everyone else (maybe a couple more), but he has a golden heart. I couldn’t imagine anyone nicer by my side.

Kill: Cameron (Halt & Catch Fire) – She is badass, but she also always believes she is right, holds a grudge forever … wow, dang … that all sounded way too familiar to myself. But my issue is that she lets her friends down and believes she is superior to them.

ROUND 5

Kiss: Eleanor (The Good Place) – Girl is a snack, as she constantly likes to point out herself!

Marry: Fallon (Dynasty) – would I like to have the comfort and security that comes with being a Carrington? Heck, yeah! I just don’t want all the drama and backstabbing.

Kill: Lisa (Friends from College) – Lisa is in enough love drama without me. I actually really like her on the show, unlike a lot of other viewers apparently, but out of the three here, she just wouldn’t be my top pick.

ROUND 6

Kiss: Tandy (Cloak and Dagger) – Tandy is a mess, but a cute one?

Marry: Buck (9-1-1) – not gonna lie, I am just majorly crushing on this dude. The way he was into Abby, I mean, that’s a girl’s dream! I want that for myself!!

Kill: Joe (You) – Easiest choice ever!!! One less creep out and about.

ROUND 7

Kiss: Amanda (Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency) – she’s cool. I’ve got nothing more.

Marry: Wynonna (Wynonna Earp) – She’s even cooler. I have even less to say.

Kill: David (Schitt’s Creek) – I AM SO SORRY! I adore David, but he’s a lot. Like a lot a lot.

ROUND 8

Kiss: Hope (Legacies) – I didn’t always like Hope, but she has grown on me. And she does have vibes with Josie, so I think she’d kiss a girl.

Marry: Schneider (One Day at a Time) – He’s such a lovable dork. I think him being in a loving environment, surrounded by family, that would really do him good. Just look at how he blossoms when he is with the fam on the show.

Kill: Alyssa (The End of the F***ing World) – Nah, I just couldn’t see myself with her.

ROUND 9

Kiss: Jasper (The Royals) – my beloved bodyguardian angel. I’d steal a kiss, but he’ll be forever with Len in my mind.

Marry: Dylan (Tidelands) – I just … uhm … think he’s hot? And he’s half siren! That’s my jam.

Kill: Carmen (Siempre Bruja) – I keep wanting to apologize to the characters, even though someone always has to die …

ROUND 10

Kiss: Tommy (Peaky Blinders) – that man is in pieces and I would never dare suggest I could somehow make him whole again.

Marry: Sansa (Game of Thrones) – my one and only true Queen!

Kill: Star (Star) – I envy her for her voice and tenacity, but that girl is so selfish and mean and sometimes straight violent.

So, that concludes this year’s Kiss, Marry, Kill. I know my taste in shows is pretty out there, so I hope there weren’t too many shows that no one knows in the mix. Feel free to ask about any you want to know more about though! As always, I’d love to chat! What do you think of my choices?

The 100 Mid-Season Finale

I’m assuming that there are equally as many people who are very happy about the mid-season finale of the 100 as there are people who are utterly devastated. To be honest, I am still undecided. Beware of Spoilers for “Spacewalker” from now onwards!

So, the episode was pretty loaded. As we all know from the previous episode, the only way to achieve a truce with the Grounders is through handing over Finn, which would mean his certain death. Of course, Clarke is not about to let that happen, so the main focus of “Spacewalker” was on how they could possibly save him from that fatal demise. Here are my main impressions:

  • It was interesting to see how differently the “kids” and the adults dealt with the Finn-situation. While Clarke and her friends were determined to save him whatever the cost, most of the Ark-survivors were readily willing to kill him themselves in order to save their own skin. Don’t get me wrong, I am in no way a supporter of sacrificing one life for the good of many, but that situation looked more than dire. The camp was surrounded by Grounders and even with their superior weapons, there was no way the Ark-people could’ve fought them and win. Additionally, Finn clearly had issues with dealing with his guilt. Killing innocent people leaves its scars. So, that was definitely a tricky situation, with no easy answer available.
  • I guess it’s best to get it out of the way. Finn is dead! There is no way around that and I know that if you’ve seen the new promo, you might think otherwise, but it’s a trick. The writers confirmed that he left the show and considering that Clarke was the one killing him (out of mercy, after telling him she loved him too) it is obvious that that will have its consequences, especially on her state of mind. I was never a huge fan of Finn (Bellarke all the way!), but I wasn’t one of the people who said he needed to go, claiming he was dead weight for the story. In the end, I was really sad to see how it ended for him.
  • We thought we knew why Finn was imprisoned on the Ark, but we finally got all of his and Raven’s backstory through lovely flashbacks. Okay, I’m still not a huge fan of flashbacks, but they were actually really useful and helped the emotional build-up with Raven’s character.
  • I’m really glad Abby is chancellor and not Jaha, but ultimately I’d prefer it if one of the Hundred is in charge. They know the territory, the lifestyle and the Grounders better than any of the Ark-people and it’s frustrating that they don’t see that.
  • Kane has returned to the camp.
  • Lincoln seems to feel better, but also more bitter.
  • Not enough Bellamy! There can never be enough Bellamy! But there was some more fuel for the theory that Kane might be Bellamy’s (and Octavia’s) father. Who knows!
  • There was absolutely no mention of Mt. Weather and the people who are still there. I can’t wait to find out how that part of the story continues, because the mountain men freak me out. Their scientific torture is so creepy and I am really afraid for Monty and Jasper. Let’s just hope Clarke manages to free them soon.

So, that was it from the 100 for this year. They better not kill Raven next episode, because that would just be too many dead main characters in too short a time. What are your thoughts?
