Liebster Award

liebster-award (1)

I have lost all sense of perspective in terms of what number of Liebster Award we are currently on. I love getting nominated, but I am terrible at keeping track (as was probably very evident this week …). So, without further ado, big thanks to Holly @Nut Free Nerd for nominating me! I feel terrible for not sticking to the rules at all anymore, but I am simply burnt out on questions! So, instead I am just going to go and answer Holly’s questions and leave it at that. I hope you guys understand! But just for the record, these are the official rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and link their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions the nominator has given you.
  • Nominate 11 bloggers.
  • Think of 11 questions to ask the bloggers you have nominated.
  • Let them know you’ve nominated them through social media or their blog.

The Questions

1. Put your music on shuffle. What are the first five songs that come up?

I haven’t uploaded any new music on my iPod in ages, because I now just have YouTube playing in the background the entire time, so most of these songs will be a little outdated, but whatever. Here we go (you can click on the song to be redirected to YouTube)!

  1. The Impossible Girl by Murray Gold (I wish this would have been planned, but I swear it’s a coincidence!)
  2. Full Moon by The Black Ghosts
  3. Heart Skips a Beat by Olly Murs feat. Rizzle Kicks
  4. A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got) by Fergie feat. Q-Tip and Goonrock
  5. Back to December by Taylor Swift

What an eclectic mix!

2. What’s the last thing that made you laugh really hard?

That’s easy! Single People Get Married for a Week from the Single AF series of Buzzfeed! It is brilliant and hilarious! I love Buzzfeed so much!

3. What’s something you did in 2015 that you’re proud of?

I graduated from uni! YAY! I now have a Bachelor degree of Arts in Business. When people ask me what that means, I can’t really tell them, but I am done with studying and that’s a relief.

4. What’s one thing you hope to accomplish in 2016?

There are a lot of things I want to accomplish. Something that is really near and dear to my heart though is finishing the First Draft of Dreamer and the second rough draft of Break Up Buddy though. Need to get motivation for writing again!

5. Do you enjoy going to concerts? If so, what was the last one you went to?

No. Just big nope. However, I did vow to do things out of my comfort zone this year and I will go to 2 concerts in the near future, but they are with assigned seats, so I am hoping I’ll like that more than getting crushed in a big crowd.

6. What is one of your favorite quotes?

7. What is the weirdest food you like?

I don’t know … I kind of like black pudding and I know that a lot of people don’t.

8. What book has made you cry the hardest?

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak has made me cry SO MUCH! It’s probably the topic in itself, but it really pulled at my heartstrings.

9. What was the best day of your life?

I think it was the day I went to the Doctor Who Experience. I stood there in line and it hit me how full of joy I was, I almost started crying. I only wish that someone had been there with me.

10. What fictional world would you love to live in (or at least spend some time in)?

Wonderland! I imagine it to be great!

11. If you could meet any author (living or dead), who would it be?

I am so torn between Tahereh Mafi and Cassandra Clare, but I guess I will go for the first one.

So, I hope you enjoyed my answers! How would you have responded to some of the questions?

Liebster Award – here we go again!

Funnily enough I got nominated for the Liebster Award again from two people on the same day and only an hour or so apart. Namely those lovely people were Matt from Matt and His Cats and Caitlin from caitlinfmc. They are both great bloggers and I had some nice chats in the comments section with them. You should definitely go ahead and visit their sites right away!

We’ve been through this a couple of time, but here’s a reminder of the rules:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you with a link back to his/her blog.
  2. Answer the 10 questions asked by the nominator.
  3. Nominate bloggers (preferably with under 500 followers).
  4. Create 10 questions for the nominees to answer.

Let’s do this ladies first!

Caitlin’s questions:

  1. Who is your idol?
Stanley Tucci. I’ve answered it in a bit more detail here.
  2. What is your favourite hobby?
Blogging isn’t the right answer here, right? Well, aside from reading, watching TV and blogging, I’d go with sketching and painting. Here’s a drawing of Max from the Book Thief.
  3. What is your favourite musical?
    Across the Universe
  4. Who is your favourite fictional character?
I see we are getting to the more difficult questions now. How am I supposed to answer this with just one person? As a child I would have said Dustfinger from Inkheart, now I quite like Cath from Fangirl and Magnus Bane from the Mortal Instruments … Mark Watney is also so great …  I CANNOT DECIDE!
  5. Why did you start blogging?
I had a blog before this one but no one read it at all, so I just stopped. Also, it wasn’t on WordPress but Blogspot instead and that just really confused me. However, a friend from uni started his own blog and was so excited I wanted to try it again. My main reason was probably that I wanted a place where I could fangirl and ramble about stuff that my non-virtual friends just didn’t care about.
  6. If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what book would you pick?
That is such a mean question! I am glad this is only hypothetical, but right now I am pretty fascinated with the Martian, so I’ll go with that.
  7. Would you rather be able to speak to animals or read peoples minds?
If I wouldn’t have to hear everyone’s thoughts all the time, but could control when to listen in or not, then I’d prefer that power.
  8. Favourite place to visit?
Still Corvallis, the place where I stayed during my exchange semester in the US.
  9. Favourite TV show?
How can I just choose one!? For now I’ll go with Doctor Who, but know that I am not happy!
  10. What is your most prized possession?
My yearbook from my exchange semester! I mean it’s like a huge hardcover book with little messages from all my friends back then. We just never had anything like yearbooks at my schools at home.

Matt’s questions:

  1. What is your favourite film and why?
You always want me to choose just one single thing with these questions and that is just too difficult! So, I am going to use the same cop out I used last time and I’ll go with the movie I’ve seen most often: Finding Neverland. I love everything about it (but especially the music) and even after watching it on repeat, it still made me cry.
  2. Are you a cat person or dog person?
You’re not going to like this, but I’m more of a dog person. I don’t have anything against cats for the record but if I could choose a pet it would be a dog. I explained it here.
  3. Are you looking forward to the next five years and why?
I don’t actually think that far ahead. It’s a bit scary at the moment because I am currently looking for a job and I would really like to leave the country, but that’s all not so easy. I’d say I am excited to see what’s going to happen, but I am not looking forward to the bureaucracy that’s involved with some of the processes that I will have to go through.
  4. What is your favourite book?
I don’t have just one favourite book, but currently the Martian is pretty high up.
  5. If you were dropped in any fictional world/place, where would you love to go for a 7 day holiday?
Wonderland! So much to see, so much to try! I’d like to see the Mad Hatter from the 2009 mini-series for tea. And even though he probably wouldn’t like it, I’d want the Knave of Hearts from Once Upon a Time in Wonderland as my tour guide. Now I’d only have to be careful not to get beheaded I guess …

  6. Are you a marathon person, or watch it when it’s on person, when it comes to TV series?
That depends. I love binging shows and to really immerse myself in them, but when it’s on I am mostly too impatient not to watch it right away.
  7. Is your relaxing environment chaotic or organised?
A sort of organised chaos. I like it when things have their place, but that doesn’t mean it needs to look neat. Does that make sense?
  8. Tea or Coffee?
  9. If you had the option to legally choose whether or not to pay for music, would you pay? Would you pick and choose?
That’s a loaded question because it depends on a lot of factors. Would YouTube still be available for free? Do you mean I would have to pay whenever I want to listen to music or just for acquiring it in the first place? I’m probably overthinking this … I think artists deserve a compensation for their work just like everyone else. I would probably want to be able to decide how much I want to give though.
  10. Would you like to pick one aspect of your life and completely lose it?
If I could skip the job hunt and just get a job that I like, I would probably opt for that. But otherwise, no. There were some tough times and some really great ones. I often wonder if I could go back and change something, if I would actually go through with it. But turns out, I wouldn’t make a single thing differently because they were the things that got me here and I like who I’ve become.

My Nominees:

My Questions:

  1. What’s your spirit animal?
  2. If you could be any fictional character for one day, who would you want to be?
  3. Who or what do you think has influenced you most in your life so far?
  4. What was your dream job when you were little?
  5. If you could master one skill, what would you want to be able to do?
  6. What kind of book/movie/TV show/song do you turn to when you are sad?
  7. How do you define home?
  8. Would you rather have dinner for breakfast or breakfast for dinner?
  9. What’s your favourite holiday and why?
  10. Would you rather be able to play any musical instrument you like or be able to sing most beautifully?

Another Liebster Award!

I’ve got nominated for more Liebster Awards than for any other blog meme that’s going around. (I think we are somewhere at Liebster #7?) Since I obviously can’t remember the number, we are just calling it THE Liebster Award, as in the Liebster Award to end all Liebster Awards! (I think I used the term enough now) Still, it in no way means that I am not happy to be nominated. It is always such a nice surprise and fun thing to do!!!

This time the lovely ladies from Sistergeeks did me the honor and I am so happy because I love their blog! They tackle all things nerdy and geeky, which really is right down my alley. Go check out their blog right now!

Now, how does this work?

1. Post the Liebster Award graphic on your site.

2. Thank the blogger who nominated you.

3. Answer 11 questions from the person who nominated you.

4. Nominate other blogs to receive the award.

5. Write 11 questions of your own for your nominees to answer.

I got nominated for a Liebster Award!

First of all, I really want to thank vinnieh for nominating me for the Liebster Award; I’ve never been nominated for anything before! I am actually still in shock and quite perplexed to think that this actually happened. You should totally check out vinnieh’s blog, if you are as interested in movie reviews as I am! The reviews range from classic movies to modern and quite recent films, so, there should be something for every taste.

There are a few rules that come with this award, and they are as follows:

  1. Post the Liebester Award graphic on your site.
  2. Thank the blogger who nominated you.
  3. The nominee has to write 11 facts about themselves.
  4. Answer the 11 questions from the post of the person who nominated you.
  5. The nominee will nominate 9 other blogs for the award.
  6. The nominees will then create 11 questions of their own for their nominated bloggers to answer in their Liebster post.

Facts about me – this really is the hardest part right now:

  1. My nickname used to be Ketchup for a while, but I am quite glad that changed.
  2. I have never fangirled over any show as much as I do over Doctor Who.
  3. If there exists a book for an upcoming movie I want to watch, I almost feel obliged to read it first.
  4. I  sometimes have the urge to bake something the way they do on the Great British Bake Off, but it never ever turns out the way it should.
  5. I love to travel, but only in regions of the earth where there is mild or cold climate.
  6. I am fluent in English and German (and I am quite alright at speaking French).
  7. I don’t go anywhere without a notebook and pen.
  8. I don’t understand why people don’t write letters anymore, because I love to receive them.
  9. My favorite TV show as a kid used to be The Tribe.
  10. I am incapable of playing a musical instrument.
  11. I am not punctual – I am always too early.

Questions from the person who nominated me:

  1. What film can you watch and never ever get bored with?
I think I have watched Finding Neverland about 20 times and still think it is most beautiful.
  2. Which movie character reminds you of yourself?
I can’t really think of any movie characters, but as for a character from a TV show, I would say Rory Gilmore from the show Gilmore Girls. I hope that counts as well.
  3. If you could travel back in time, which era would you visit?
Probably the 1920s. I like the clothes from that era and also the music, but I am not entirely sure about that one. I only know I most likely wouldn’t go too far back in time.
  4. If you could be reincarnated as an animal after your death, what animal would you want to be?
I’d like to be reincarnated as a wolf. I think they are beautiful animals and I like the idea that they have a pack.
  5. What was the first movie that really scared you?
As silly as it may sound, the first movie that really scared me was the Last Unicorn. The red bull kept me sleepless for days.
  6. If you could work on a film with just one actor or actress, who would you work with?
I would have to say Stanley Tucci – I simply adore his work and think he is really versatile in his acting.
  7. Madonna or Lady Ga Ga?
Tough decision, but I’d say I prefer Madonna’s earlier work (not the recent one though) over Lady Gaga.
  8. Dog or cat lover?
  9. James Bond or Jason Bourne?
Hmm, another tough one … but I think James Bond.
  10. What song best describes you?
The Impossible Girl/Clara’s Theme composed by Murray Gold
  11. What is your idea of a great weekend?
Well, my perfect weekend wouldn’t be anything too exciting. Just hanging out with some friends, reading a good book and being able to realx a little.

My nominees:

Questions for my nominees:

  1. If you could be part of any story (a book or movie or TV show), which story would you chose?
  2. Tea or coffee?
  3. Which fictional character bares the most resemblance to you (either in physical appearance, in character or both)?
  4. Summer or winter?
  5. Would you rather watch exclusively TV shows or movies for the rest of your life?
  6. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
  7. Gummy bears or chocolate?
  8. What’s the first movie you really remember? And why was it so memorable?
  9. Which song could you listen to on repeat for hours?
  10. Comedy or Horror?
  11. Which Big Bang Theory character are you?

I can’t believe how long it took me to answer the questions and to think of stuff myself. As much as it’s a lot of fun, it’s also a bunch of real work! I hope everyone is satisfied with my answers/questions.
