Chicago Fire Season 4 Premiere

Chicago Fire is back and that means one by one my favourite franchise is becoming complete again. I already showed you a little Preview and First Look (including Spoilers for the entire Season) in a previous post – click here to check it out! Otherwise, let’s continue with the Season 4 Premiere!

Okay everyone, you should know how this works by now, but I still feel obliged to say it every single time. We pick up right at the same moment the last episode ended, but there is so much going on each episode that I just break it down into characters and my thoughts for their storylines. Spoilers ahead!

  • Gabby and Casey – I think everyone wants to know what’s going on with them. Well, Gabby was really worried after finding dead Katya, but Antonio got to Casey in time. He’s changed and now has a more violent/impulsive streak, but after Gabby was in danger during one of the fires, he FINALLY realised that he just wants to be with her. So, in the last seconds of the episode he goes to Molly’s to tell her how he feels and she’s super happy and that’s when she tells him that she’s pregnant and they hug.
I am so glad it happened this way around and not him wanting to get back together after she told him about the pregnancy. Now I don’t feel like they just got back together for the baby. But throughout the episode you could see how much Dawson was struggling as a firefighter and probably wanting to stay one.
  • As announced, Severide got demoted and I was super mad on his behalf! I think he is handling this a lot calmer than expected, but definitely still not well. I just think it’s so unfair, because while the turnover rate on Squad may be high, that surely isn’t his fault. I am so worried about him, because he wants to leave Firehouse 51 and I am NOT okay with that. I hope that Cruz could dissuade him from that idea.
Also, we got to meet his new love interest, who he meets at his management training course. They hooked up already, but I read something about complications on the way, so I don’t think it will last.
  • Dallas Patterson, the new Captain replacing Sev, seemed really nice. I wanted to like him and not resent him, because after all it’s not his fault that Sev got demoted. However, by the end of the episode I didn’t particularly like him, especially not because he told Sev that he HAD to show up at his boat for a mandatory group thing. Just give the guy some space to breathe and digest what happened!
  • The new recruit Jimmy totally blew it! He came off like some stupid frat boy and that’s not what Firehouse 51 needs. I am glad he apologized in the end, but he will have to do some serious growing up. I am however interested to see if there’s really something going to happen between him and Chili – she definitely thinks he’s hot.
  • Will Halstead once more got to make an appearance and it makes me so impatient for Chicago Med! Chili and Brett had a really heartbreaking case and they asked for his help to find out about the fate of a patient.
  • The fire the firehouse had to attend to was something different too this week. I can’t believe those people are suing the firehouse even though they were the ones delaying them and causing the death of one of their neighbors. I was really disappointed in humanity on this one. I mean, how can they be so irresponsible?
  • I can see a lot of trouble for Molly’s coming because of the new neighbors

So, that pretty much sums it all up. What did you think?

Chicago PD Season 3 Premiere

FINALLY I had time to watch Chicago PD. Even though I like binging the Chicago Franchise, I can’t really do that because I get confused with all the crossovers. So, I just watch it week by week, which is still pretty awesome. Let’s do this! are coming!

A lot went down in the first episode and I was hoping for a really Jay-centered episode, but since he was abducted for most of the time, that wasn’t really that much the case. However, once again, I’ll be breaking it down into what each of the different characters did/felt/thought/whatever you want to call it:

  • Jay couldn’t believe that Erin would leave him. It wasn’t about romance, it was about her being his partner and not even having the decency to tell him that she quit to his face. It leads to him confronting her after a night of partying and him pretty much giving up on her – her last champion walking away. I have to say, I was really pissed at Erin lately. She pushed away EVERYONE who cares about her and for what? To take some pills with good ol’ mum? I am glad she stepped up and came to Jay’s rescue when he was kidnapped and he was so happy that it was her who came for him.
On another note, I know that Linstead is endgame, but I kind of want a break from their romance and them maybe pursuing someone other than each other? I can already see the Linstead fans coming for me for that statement …
  • I am also glad that Voight is not making it easy on Erin. His conditions are valid and she needs to cut ties with her mum if she wants her badge back for good. But he has made some odd choices himself in the episode. I have a bad feeling about prison Eddie.
  • Olinski is so clueless when it comes to handling his daughter. We know that he can be good with female teens, so why is he so counter-intuitive when it comes to her? That girl is in trouble and he better man up and help her.
  • Platt wants to plan the Burzek wedding – that is just brillant.
  • Attwater will be Adam’s best man for the wedding. I so thought he’d ask Olinski, but I don’t know why.
  • I can see conflict ahead for Burzek. Aside from Roman messing with Burgess head a little, there was also the fact that Adam didn’t want Burgess on the Intelligence case because it was too dangerous. She knows that the job comes with danger and she accepts that her fiancé is in certain precarious situations a lot of the time. I think they could butt heads over that topic. Is it really a new issue though?
  • Burgess saw a syringe in Roman‘s backpack. What the heck was that about? I don’t think it has anything to do with drugs, they have Lindsay for that story, but I have no idea what else it could be about. Diabetes? Accidentally taking it with him from Sylvie’s place (even though it still doesn’t make sense for a medic to have that stuff lying around?)
  • Lastly, we get another tease for the Chicago Med connection, with Will Halstead drinking with the CPD guys at Molly’s and saying that Jay will be fine.

Any thoughts or theories for the new season? I think most storylines have been set up nicely so far. Mainly I am just glad to have the show back!

Chicago PD Season 3 First Look

Other than the preview of Chicago Fire, the First Look for Chicago PD Season 3 is much shorter. I don’t know why they did it differently for both shows, but 30 seconds is better than nothing.

ChicagoPD

For all of those who can’t remember everything about the Chicago PD Season Finaleyou can read up on it here. Let’s just say, we all could see that Erin wasn’t handling Nadia’s death very well and we all got mad at her for the choices she made. Most of all Jay, because it is one thing to not want to be in a romantic relationship, but a whole other thing to just leave your partner without saying anything. That is a big deal and she really screwed up, but see what that leads to yourself:

Now, as far as Spoilers go:

Lindsay’s mom will appear a couple more times now to spend time (drinking) with her daughter. I do not approve of that, Erin needs to get back on track and not disappoint Jay and Voight any further. She’ll have to prove herself to the team and for the beginning, let’s just say there won’t be any romantic Linstead happenings. Speaking of Voight though, he’ll have to face some of the things he did in the past when a convict gets out early due to a mistake he made. The realisation of how dirty a cop he was mixed with some self-loathing will probably be the result of that. There is not much else to be found, since as always, the focus is mainly on Lindsay. BUT I personally expect to see some wedding planning for Burzek and Antonio working at his new boxing club. And I just want my Halstead to be okay, because that promo waws scary. That’s what I hope to see!

So, who else can’t wait for September 30? It’s less than a month away and I am so happy to have the show back!!!

Chicago Fire Season 4 First Look

chicago

Everyone who knows me, knows that I am in love with the Chicago Franchise. After the Season 3 Finale of Chicago Fire there are a lot of exciting things to be expected from Season 4, so I wanted to share the First Look and promo vid with you!

Disclaimer: I don’t know for how long those videos will be available! NBC has the bad habit of taking them down after a while …

So, there is not much new to be found out about our beloved Firehouse 51 guys and gals. Themes from the last season will continue: the tension between Squad and Truck is still on, Casey is in trouble, Gabby has a lot to think about concerning her pregnancy and Brett and Roman apparently hit it off. However, we do have new additions to the cast. 51 gets a new recruit played by Steven R. McQueen (who many of you will probably know from the Vampire Diaries). Also, Brian White will join the cast (previously seen on Scandal and Mistresses), but to read about his role I’d suggest going to the Spoiler section below.

Now, if you want some Spoilers:
I read that Severide will be demoted for some reason and that’s where Brian White comes in as new Captain of the Squad. During Sev’s management-training course he meets his new love interest (and here I was seeing sparks between him and Gabby … guess that’ll always just be in my head). It definitely means there is not going to be any Severide and April action though, maybe she’ll meet someone new on Chicago Med instead.
So, whatever Casey will be going through, will take its toll. He survives (yay! It’s something!) but he will be in a dire state afterwards. Gabby’s pregnancy might be the silver linings Casey needs to get himself together again. Yet, Dawson still has her doubts about them as a couple, so it won’t be that easy in terms of the baby just bringing them back together.

There’s still more than a month until the Season 4 Premiere in mid-October, but are you as excited as I am?

Chicago PD Season 2 Finale

Guys, I can’t take the Season Finales of my beloved Chicago shows … Now I have to wait until fall for anything new to happen! There are always the best cliffhangers at the end of a Season when it comes to Dick Wolf‘s shows. At least now I can look forward to not only Chicago Fire and Chicago PD continuing, but also the official arrival of Chicago Med!!!
But for now, let’s talk about “Born into Bad News”! (Spoilers included)

I think the chronology of Chicago Fire and Chicago PD is off. There is NO way that Voight and especially Antonio would be this calm and distracted by other cases with Casey missing. I mean seriously, Gabby would give them hell and they know it. So something isn’t quite right, because they didn’t acknowledge that happening at all. (Which to be honest, disappointed me a little …)

Now, on to the “analyzation” of what happened to each of the characters:

  • Erin … I’m at a loss with her. She has Voight and Jay being right there for her and who does she turn to? Her pity excuse of a mother … I can’t believe she is back on drugs and sleeping with that sleazy guy from her past. I do however understand why she is so devastated about Nadia’s death. I don’t think she’s to blame, but Nadia was her best friend and it was cruel what happened to her. At least Platt managed to get her that memorial stone.
I know that people grieve differently, but I don’t think it’s okay that she quit Intelligence. She pushed everyone away and that’s just so sad.
  • I was really scared for Burzek for a second. I was worried that he couldn’t take it that she was on Intelligence with him, but the real reason for his odd behaviour is simply amazing! He proposed to Kim, after she had to return to being in uniform with Roman because Atwater got cleared after the suicide story. While the timing maybe wasn’t perfect, the proposal was definitely most adorable and such an Adam-thing to do. (quote: “You and I are freaking awesome together.”). So happy she said yes!!!
  • Voight still instills fear in his territory and amongst his enemies and that’s kind of cool. Yet, I can’t help but feel like he is tired of the image he’s created for himself before getting busted. He is after all not such a bad cop, even though his methods may be a little unconventional and borderline illegal sometimes – but most definitely with good intentions. The final case of the season really reflected his development in my opinion. Who knows what old Voight might’ve done?
  • Olinsky’s previous relationship with a woman while working undercover seems to have led to unforeseen “consequences”, namely a daughter who’s currently in juvy. I think he’s a great dad most of the time, but not sure how he’ll be able to master that.
  • Last but not least, Antonio tried to convince Roman and Jay to join him for a business venture (isn’t that more of Herrmann’s territory?). He wants to buy a boxing gym, because the Police Youth Boxing Club changed his life. He can’t get enough money until Voight hands him some stolen drug money (I said he only ever has the best intentions). Yay to that!

I’ll miss Chicago PD and I already can’t deal with the lack of Linstead scenes … it’s going to be a long while until fall 2015. Thoughts?

Chicago Fire Season 3 Finale

Let’s start by saying that I absolutely cannot wait until Season 4 … not after what happened last night. Chicago Fire was once again at it’s best, leaving us with a lot to think about until fall. Here we go with the review for the “Spartacus” episode (Spoilers ahead!).

The promo already had me in a panic. I was neither willing to loose Severide nor Gabby since those two are pretty much my favourites. Turns out my fear was unnecessary, but let’s go through it character by character and see what the Season Finale had in store for us:

  • Whenever Casey and Voight talk normal with each other, I still get that uneasy feeling because of their past. I just can’t shake it off, even though I love Voight as head of Intelligence on Chicago PD. Now that Antonio and Hank have talked Casey into working undercover, he already gets nearly discovered at the start of his “mission”. While everyone thinks he dodged a bullet, Nesbitt witnesses a talk between Casey and the guys from PD … we all know that’s no good. So while most people thought the person in danger would be someone trapped in the fire, it’s actually Matt Casey. Dawson finds poor Katya bloody (and probably dead) on his apartment floor with Casey missing. Voight better have a plan now!
  • The past weeks the tension between Truck and Squad has been building up. I thought we were so done with this topic in … I don’t know, like Season 1 but apparently we weren’t. Especially Otis has been riled up about the whole Scott Rice thing and when Cruz joins Squad he feels utterly betrayed. But no worries – the bromance didn’t hit a major rock because they make up by the end of the episode.
  • Herrmann and Chili still pursue their business idea for chilled champagne. It was the thing that finally made Chili connect with the rest of the people at the fire house and she and Herrmann seem to grow closer in their mutual quest. I would have loved for one of those funny business ideas to finally work, but some big company got the product on the market before they did …
  • Sylvie and Roman are starting a thing and I kind of dig it! Crossover romances are the best!!
  • Now … on to a bit of a controversial topic. I have no idea how to start this! Let’s maybe begin by saying that I am not against Dawsey as a couple, but they don’t really excite me. Ever since the show started Gabriella and Severide were my favourite people on the show (plus Shay … may she rest in peace) and I always wanted them to have more scenes together. I didn’t necessarily see them as a couple, but then again: wouldn’t that be spicy? After Shay passed, I saw them connecting a little more by investigating her murder, but the show didn’t pursue this any further. Now, I know they fight a lot, but I’ve always just kind of seen a spark there and I feel very, very reassured in my assumption after last night’s episode. Their near death experience brought them closer and even made them flirty with each other (Gabby saying “big, strong Squad-guy to save me” was epic!) and then that hug … I know that people still want Dawsey, but I’d be totally for a little Gabby-Severide-experiment. (April wasn’t really in the picture the past episodes anyway …)
  • Then the shocker at the end (… besides Casey missing): it seems Gabby is pregnant!! I knew it when she felt a little unwell at the beginning of the episode! That will mean a lot of change for her personally as well as career-wise. I’m looking forward to seeing how she handles it, especially without Casey. People probably love the idea of a Dawsey baby though!

So, I’m all set for Season 4 … already not liking the wait. What are your thoughts?
