I know I’ve never done this before, but I’ve seen it on other blogs and since I’ve been trying to write more about books, I thought “Why not?”. So here we go with my July Wrap-Up!
The books I’ve read this month (in chronological order) are:
- Hollow City by Ransom Riggs (Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children #2)
As soon as I heard that Tim Burton was directing the movie adaptation of the Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children Series, I had to read them. I read the first part the month before, but I have to admit that the series isn’t really my thing. It’s not written badly or anything like that, I just think that the children are a bit too young for me to really connect with them and that the creepy vibe just really isn’t my area in which I feel comfortable. - How to be a Time Lord – Official Guide
You know I love Doctor Who and this was just sweet and short and fun. - The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart
I fell in love with We Were Liars, so I was eager to read other novels by E. Lockhart. I definitely wasn’t disappointed, but I did not expect this to be about feminism that much (which I could’ve easily found out by reading any review ever written about the book though). I liked the book, but it kind of made me sad. Everyone says that the ending is empowering, but if I were Frankie, I wouldn’t have been happy at all. - How to Be Bad by Lockhart, Myracle, Mlynowski
Another Lockhart book! I was really on a spree this month. This is like the perfect book for a girly road trip during the summer time. I thought the characters were very relatable (I saw myself as a mix of Mel and Jesse), but it lacked a bit of depth for me sometimes. I liked seeing all the different POVs and such, but in the end I felt like some topics could’ve deserved more time. Nonetheless, it’s a fun read that deals with a lot of different issues while staying perfectly light-hearted. - Geek Girl by Holly Smale
Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed with this one. It was a tad too fairy-tale-come-true in the end and I didn’t really connect with any of the characters that much. In fact, most of them annoyed me quite a bit. Also, I get that bullying is terrible and I do not condone it in any way, but “Geek” is not an offensive word to me. Seriously, in this day and age, it’s like hip to be a geek.

So that was it for this month. I will be posting an August TBR, but probably not until I get back home (which will be August 6). If you want to read about my adventures in Wales, you should check out my other blog I Am Here! What Now? and subscribe if you like it! (I’m a little behind, but I’ll be writing more soon!)
Until next time guys and gals! Read you soon!
