The Infinity Dreams Award

infinity

Okay, so we all know that I am terrible at doing award posts! I am always late (often months) and I never do it in the right order and for that I am sorry. It’s so difficult to come up with all the facts about myself, but the Infinity Dream Award offers me the possibility to answer some questions and that’s a lot easier. So, HUGE THANK YOU for nominating me and being patient to Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much, Jordan @Words … I Need Words and finally also Rae @Bookmarkchronicles!

Rules: (and prepare for some cheating on my part)

1. Thank and follow the blog that nominated you.

2. Tell us 11 facts about yourself.

3. Answer the questions that were set for you to answer.

4. Nominate 11 bloggers and set questions for them.

The Beautiful Blogger & Lovely Blog Award!

beautiful-blogger-award     onelovely

First, I want to apologize for doing this so late. It’s been months and I feel terrible!!! You guys really want to know a ton of facts about me and I’m seriously running out of things to say. Still, it is nice to get nominated so big thanks to Alicia @Caffeine and Books for nominating me for the Beautiful Blogger Award and to Lauren @Fandom Addict and Flo @Flowless Books for nominating me for the Lovely Blog Award! Check out their blogs if you haven’t yet, they are absolutely great and awesome people to talk to.

Again, let’s start with the rules:

  • Link to the blogger who nominated you. (check!)
  • List seven random facts about you. (same for both awards)
  • Nominate 7 beautiful bloggers and 15 lovely ones and notify them. (I will do a mix for both but not 22 people, let’s not make this an overkill!)
  • Keep the rules in your post to make sure everyone knows what to do.

7 Facts About Myself:

  1. I am a Leo, because I was born in August, but I don’t think that the characteristics of the sign fit me very well. Leos are supposed to be buoyant and confident and charming – that does not always feel like me.
  2. I have a book called The Tucci Table which is a cook book by Stanley Tucci and his family. I even baked some cakes featured in the book and they were really tasty, even though maybe a little too sweet. I think I would use it more often if I didn’t have to convert all the measurements though. If you know about my Tucci-idolization, you know how happy I am about that book!
  3. I have a drivers license for donkeys and I don’t know why. It was something you could get during one of my holidays years back and I guess it was fun riding a donkey.
  4. I’ve met the President of my home country, Austria, and he was very nice. Also very short.
  5. Everybody tells me that I look more like my dad, but that I act like my mum, which in turn makes me look like her.
  6. I used to share short stories and unfinished longer stories on a website called Figment. I am not sure how I feel about those now, but if you want to check them out, click here. (Remember they are old!!)
  7. I think about the past and what could have been a lot, but in if I could go back in time and retrace my steps, I wouldn’t do a single thing differently because I like where I am now.

My Nominees:

The Beautiful Blogger Award

The Lovely Blog Award

*If you are swamped with awards/tags, simply don’t want to do it or have any other reason not to make a post, feel free to ignore this nomination!!!

Starlight Blogger Award!

I got nominated for the Starlight Blogger Award by my lovely friend Cristina @My Tiny Obsessions. We’ve started blogging roughly at the same time and have nominated each other for a couple of those awards now. If you follow our blogs (and you really should!!!) you’ve probably noticed our endless discussions in the comments before. Just for the record, I also want to note that I would have totally nominated her for this award, but re-nominating the person who’s nominated you is bad form.

THE RULES:

1. Thank the giver and link their blog to your post.

2. Answer the 3 original questions and then the 3 new questions from your nominator given to you.

3. Nominate your 6 favorite bloggers! In your nominees I would like for you to think at the light emanating from the stars the ones that truly touch your soul with their work, the ones that are the light for you a true STARLIGHT Blogger.

4. Please pass the award on to 6 or more other Bloggers of your choice and let them know that they have been nominated by you.

5. Include the logo of the award in a post or on your Blog, please never alter the logo, never change the 3 original questions answer that first then answer the 3 new questions from your nominator and never change the Award rules.

6. Please don’t delete this note:

The design for the STARLIGHT Bloggers Award has been created from YesterdayAfter. It is a Copyright image, you cannot alter or change it in any way just pass it to others that deserve this award.

THE ORIGINAL QUESTIONS:

1. If you could meet anyone from throughout history, who and why?
Such a tough question! I’d like to meet some former Austrian royalty, because it is so odd to think that my country was once a monarchy. I’d like to see how that was. I’d probably go back to the time of the Emperor and Empress Franz Josef and Sissi, just to see how their relationship really was like. (hint: probably nothing like the movies)

2. What is your favorite book and why?
I cannot answer that with clear conscience. I love so many books, but I can tell you that my favourite book from the summer was The Martian by Andy Weir.

3. Who is your favorite fiction character from any medium and why?
I am very tempted to say the Doctor from Doctor Who, but that is such a boring answer because everyone already knows that! Instead I am going to go with Echo from Dollhouse, because she is strong and bad-ass and smart. She has so many people in her head but is still sane and she sacrificed so much for others. I love her!

CRISTINA’S QUESTIONS:

1. What is something, not necessarily that you regret, but wish you could do over?
I think I have said this before, but the most fun and the most interesting experiences I have made was when I was 15 and on my exchange semester in the US. I would like to do that over just for the fun of it. I haven’t seen most of the people from back then for years because it’s just so difficult to stay in contact, especially with a 9-hour-time-difference. Some people I am still friends with now, but it’s not nearly as many as I had hoped for back then. So, seeing them again would be great.

2. Why do you like to read? And don’t just say because it’s fun! Make it mean something!
I guess this is very similar to what Cristina said, but the escapism is a big part of it! That is also why I like TV shows so much, but books just trigger my imagination even more. I often wonder how I would fit into the story and then I create those characters and try to add them to the story in my head which leads to me coming up with entirely new stories, which I love. I end up daydreaming a lot, but I am fine with that.

3. Who is your person?
That’s difficult in a way, even though it sounds like something you should know right away. I guess my best friend would be the answer for that one, but we’ve changed since we are not in class together anymore. People do that, they grow up and have their own stuff going on away from each other, but still – she gets me and my craziness and I get hers. I am so glad that I have her, even though we don’t see each other as often as I’d like to.

MY QUESTIONS:

1. If you could be a character in any fictional story of your choosing (book/TV/movie/comics/etc.), where would you want to go?

2. What’s a song that always gets you in a good mood?

3. Did you ever consider going to a Comic Con? If yes/no, why? Would you dress up as someone else?

MY NOMINEES:

Another Creative Blogger Award

I’ve been nominated for the Creative Blogger Award before and I can tell you that it’s becoming increasingly difficult to come up with facts about myself. Either way, I am still very happy about the fact that Morgan from The Secret Diary of a Computer Science Student and Rosemarie from A Reading Writer nominated me. Doing these tags and awards is always fun – so thanks for nominating me! If you haven’t been to their blogs yet, you should definitely go and check them out!

Creative_Blogger

The rules:

• Thank the person who nominated you and include a link to their blog.
• Share 5 facts about yourself.
• Nominate some bloggers yourself and notify them.
• Keep the rules in your post to make sure everyone knows what to do.

Facts About Myself:

  • I’ve actually been on TV a couple times now. Only in the audience of some live shows but somehow they always decide to take a close up of me. Not sure how I feel about that.
  • I’ve been to the Doctor Who Experience this July and it was the best day of my life so far. I even got to chill with the Face of Boe.
    SANYO DIGITAL CAMERA
  • I have a list of people I want to meet on my iPod and I strongly believe that I will actually be able to meet the majority of those (okay maybe not the majority…). Preferably in a semi-professional environment, meaning that I’ll get to work in the field I want to and meet them because of that.
  • I went to tourism school and am actually somewhat of a trained sommelier. I don’t recognise any type of wine though and am still amazed that I passed my finals!
  • I think my whole wardrobe only consists of clothes that are either black, dark blue, grey, white or dark red. I often want to change my style but I don’t know where to shop. Probably because I hate shopping … (Bam! Two facts in one!)

My Nominess:

Caitlin @caitlinfmc

Michalah @Cape Town Dreamer

Erika & Miedjel @Partners in Books

Sunshine Blogger Award

sunshine-award

I got nominated by not just one but 2 fabulous bloggers for the Sunshine Blogger Award! First I want to thank Kira @fieittyreads and second Vinnie @vinnieh. I love both their blogs and always have great talks with them in the comments, you should definitely head over to their sites and check them out!

Now you may wonder, how does this all work? Here are the very simple rules:

  • To accept the award, you answer the 11 questions asked by the person who nominated you.
  • After that you nominate people who are the sunshine in your life and brighten up the day!
  • Ask your nominees 11 questions in return.

One Lovely Blog Award

onelovely

Cristina over at My Tiny Obsessions nominated me for the One Lovely Blog Award and if it weren’t against the rules, I would throw that compliment right back at her. Seriously check out her blog! She’s now done me the honour of nominating me for all kinds of blog awards, memes and tags multiple times, but it never gets boring. She is the one person I can always count on to fangirl with over literally any topic that comes to mind. Thanks so much for that Cristina!

THE RULES:

  • You must thank the person who nominated you and include a link to their blog. (check)
  • You must list the rules and display the award. (doing that right now)
  • You must add 7 facts about yourself.
  • You must nominate 15 other bloggers and comment on one of their posts to let them know they have been nominated.
  • You must display the award logo and follow the blogger who nominated you. (not really…)

7 FACTS ABOUT MYSELF:

  1. When I obsess about something, I do it the hardcore way and truly immerse myself in it. Example: I binged Sense8 in 2 sittings and after that my brain was so warped that I dreamt I was in a cluster myself. (Although not with the people from the show, I obviously had my very own cluster). It was both cool and a little disconcerting at the same time.
  2. I have a ton of Doctor Who merchandise I am really proud of. Among it are 4 sonic screwdrivers, a bath-robe in the style of Eleven, an Adipose stress toy, 2 necklaces, a UNIT pin, the Doctor Who anniversary Monopoly game and many more things.
  3. My current celebrity crush is Matthew Daddario because he’s basically a badass dude Snow White.
    https://instagram.com/p/fqkJyzhasL/?taken-by=matthewdaddario
  4. I judge books by their covers and if I really don’t like it, it takes a whole lot of convincing from other people for me to buy it.
  5. I always wanted to have a pen pal because I loved getting letters in the mail and I even had a couple when I was younger, but I was actually really bad at it. At some point I just ran out of things to say …
  6. I don’t like going out to party or anything and while that made me feel left out back in High School, I am really quite alright with it now.
  7. One day I want to work for a casting studio or as a casting director, because that seems like one of the best jobs ever.

NOMINATIONS:

Another Liebster Award!

I’ve got nominated for more Liebster Awards than for any other blog meme that’s going around. (I think we are somewhere at Liebster #7?) Since I obviously can’t remember the number, we are just calling it THE Liebster Award, as in the Liebster Award to end all Liebster Awards! (I think I used the term enough now) Still, it in no way means that I am not happy to be nominated. It is always such a nice surprise and fun thing to do!!!

This time the lovely ladies from Sistergeeks did me the honor and I am so happy because I love their blog! They tackle all things nerdy and geeky, which really is right down my alley. Go check out their blog right now!

Now, how does this work?

1. Post the Liebster Award graphic on your site.

2. Thank the blogger who nominated you.

3. Answer 11 questions from the person who nominated you.

4. Nominate other blogs to receive the award.

5. Write 11 questions of your own for your nominees to answer.

Real Neat Blog Award

Once again, I have to thank My Tiny Obsessions for nominating me! Check out her blog, we always have the bestest of conversations and discussions! This has all been a lot of fun, but at the same time it’s also been a ton of work! Just wanted to mention that 😛

The rules are fairly simple:

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Answer the questions they gave you.
  • Nominate 7 bloggers.
  • Ask said bloggers 7 questions!

So, here we go! Those were My Tiny Obsessions questions:

Where would you rather spend a vacation? Beach? Mountain? City? Why?
City! I’ve grown up in a big city and there’s just always so much to see. Not that I don’t enjoy an occasional hiking tour or walk through the forest, but I’d rather have public transport and the possibility to do whatever I like instead.

If you got stranded in a desert island, which 3 items would you like to have with you?
My iPod with everlasting battery, a fan or some other sort of air cooling device and a suitcase of books. Does the last one count? I guess not … so, a book that rewrites itself! That would be so awesome!

What’s your biggest celebrity crush? Why?
That’s a tough one because they basically change every week. You already know about my infatuation with Matthew Daddario, other than that I always liked Chris Pine, Tom Hiddleston, Jesse Lee Spencer, Nico Mirallegro, … YOU CAN’T MAKE ME CHOOSE!

Coke or Pepsi? Or “what are you talking about, there’s no difference”?
I don’t think there is a huge difference, but Coke …

Favorite time of the year? Why?
Fall! I like the colours, I like the temperature, I like watching all the new shows on TV! Do I need more reasons?

Name a music that reminds you of your childhood?
The Anastasia Soundtrack always reminds me of my childhood. I could sing along with every single song!

You can only pick ONE book to read (forever), what would it be?
That is SO mean and you know it! I guess it would have to be a stand-alone, otherwise the story would never really be complete. I just have such fond memories of the Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke, I’d choose that one (but note that it’s only reluctantly!)

Furthermore, I nominate following bloggers:

  1. Jordan and Eddie (the Movie Guys)
  2. Geekritique
  3. Distant Realms
  4. Always & Forever Fangirling
  5. Grab Life by the Pages
  6. soif pour plus
  7. Amanda’s Book Nook

So and lastly, my questions for you! Have fun answering them!

  1. If you could go anywhere on the planet, where would you want to go?
  2. If you had to pick a scent that reminded you of your childhood, what would it be?
  3. Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Charmed (or if neither, what’s a supernatural show you like)?
  4. Choose a book or movie title that describes your life! Why?
  5. How has blogging influenced your life?
  6. If you could only read/watch one genre for the rest of your life, what would you choose? Why?
  7. Pick a song that is your personal theme song!

Last but not least, I’ve also been nominated to do the Love/Hate-Challenge by the ever amazing Rami Ungar the writer and again My Tiny Obsessions. I have not forgotten about it, even if it’s been quite some time since you asked me to do it … I’ll get to it, just not today. I think the award spree was enough for one day 😉

Blogger Recognition Award

I was really surprised to get nominated by Char from Grab Life by the Pages, but also ever so grateful! I have to admit that I still have to really dive into the depths of your archives and really explore your blog, but from what I’ve seen we have a similar taste in books and that is a very good sign. Thank you so much for nominating me!

So here are the rules:

  • Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to. (We’ll see about that …)
  • Write a post to show off your award! Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers. Thank the person who nominated you, and provide a link to their blog (as done above). List who you’ve nominated in the post and notify them.
  • Provide a link to the original post on Edge of Night (did that by linking it to the picture above!). That way, anyone can find the original guidelines and post if needed, and we can keep it from mutating and becoming confusing!

Life and Other Disasters – the Origin story:

I had a blog before I started Life and Other Disasters, but it was on blogspot and nobody read it and I abandoned it pretty quickly. I never really forgot about it though, wondering if I should have stuck with it. Then the time to start uni came and we had to do a group project which included creating a website for said project. Someone suggested wordpress and I created the account and thought, “Hey, maybe I should create a separate page and do a blog again.” So, that’s exactly what I did! I kept it secret from my friends for a while, not wanting them to know if it didn’t go so well. But, here we are, two years later and still going strong. I love blogging, it’s just one of the best feelings ever!

My humble advice:

Stick with it no matter what! It doesn’t matter how many followers you have, but only how you feel about expressing your thoughts on topics that get you excited. It’s an outlet for your inner musings and just don’t stress about it too much. While posting regularly is somewhat important, don’t be afraid to take a break and not post for a while. Blogging should always be fun and never be an obligation!

My nominees are:

  1. My Tiny Obsessions (You gave me so much to do, you get a nomination right back!)
  2. The Creative Fox Den
  3. Anchored to Sunshine
  4. FlickThrough
  5. Storytime with John
  6. Vinnieh
  7. My TV Family
  8. Is My Geek Showing?
  9. soif pour plus
  10. Rami Ungar the writer
  11. Alex Hurst
  12. Wanderlust Emporium
  13. Bookographic
  14. Writers Dispatch
  15. An American in Iceland (and other places too)

Puh, that was a lot of work right there! I’m looking forward to reading all your blog-stories and advice! More posts are following! (I’m SO on a writing spree!)

I got nominated for a Liebster! Again!

I feel incredibly flattered and completely undeserving to have received not just one Liebster nomination, but in fact two on the very same day. I very much would like to thank the two great bloggers My Tiny Obsessions and Lucy May for the nominations! You should most certainly check out their blogs, but now let’s get down to business and prepare for a long post!

It is not just a great honor to receive a Liebster nomination, it also comes with some sort of responsibility. The Liebster Award is especially for bloggers with less than 200 followers, you should look out for in the future and here are the rules:

  1. Link back to the blogger who nominated you
  2. Answer the 11 questions given to you by the blogger who nominated you
  3. Nominate 11 other bloggers with less than 200 followers
  4. Go to the blogs you nominated and notify them of your nomination
  5. Give your nominees 11 questions to answer

Here are the questions My Tiny Obsession has asked and my answers. I hope you like what you’re reading!

  1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Why?
I don’t really have an exciting answer for this, because I guess it is rather boring to say Cardiff, but that is where I’d like to live right now. Maybe that will change in a few years or so, but I like places where it’s not too hot and my favourite TV shows were or currently are produced there.
  2. Favourite Superhero? Why?
I like both, traditional and not-so-traditional superheroes, so this is extremley difficult to answer since there are so many to chose from. I’m going to go with Hawkeye, because I like Jeremy Renner and I very often like the underdog.
  3. Favorite drama, comedy and Sci-Fi TV show?
    Drama = BBC’s Sherlock
Comedy = currently Super Fun Night
Sci-Fi = Doctor Who, of course!
  4. What’s your TV guilty pleasure and why?
I sometimes like to watch nonsensical reality shows, that absolutely don’t need any brain power, because I feel like I can really relax while watching them. Sorry, but I can’t think of any particular title right now.
  5. Which one is your Doctor? And Companion?
I think I have to say Matt’s Doctor, because I started watching the show during his era, but he is only a tiny bit ahead of David Tennant. And for the companions … I love almost all of them equally but in a different way. Every time a new one comes along, I think I won’t like them, but I am always sad when they leave. But I really do adore Donna!
  6. Which of the Deathly Hallows (Elder Wand, Resurrection Stone and Cloak of Invisibility) would you rather possess? Why?
Definitely the Cloak of Invisibility! I always wanted to have one of those and I’d love to catch some parts of conversations that weren’t meant for everyone to hear.
  7. Robert Downey Jr, Benedict Cumberbatch or Jonny Lee Miller, which one is the best Sherlock Holmes? And who is the best Watson, Jude Law, Martin Freeman or Lucy Liu?
Without a doubt: Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman! I do like Robert Downey Jr., but I prefer Benedict way more. And to be honest, I’ve never even tried watching Elementary.
  8. Favorite comfort food?
    Cookies and Cream Ice Cream
  9. What the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
Turn off the alarm and hope that I don’t fall asleep again. After that I watch some funny youtube videos to start the day with something good.
  10. What made you start blogging?
I’m a bit ashamed to say it, but probably pure boredom and my desperate need for distraction from studying.
  11. What’s your favorite post that you have written? (Share the Link please)
I am never entirely happy with my own posts, that’s the problem with being a perfectionist, but I think I managed to make the Walter Mitty sound interesting without acutally giving away too much of the storyline. So, here’s the link: https://theimpossiblegirlblog.wordpress.com/2014/01/13/the-secret-life-of-walter-mitty/

And here are Lucy May‘s questions. I hope that I answered them to your satisfaction!

  1. You can be any character from a book, who would be? Why?
Meggie from Inkheart! She can read things out of books or read herself into the story. I think that would be an amazing power to have.
  2. If you could re-direct any film ever made, which one would it be and why?
Haywire, that movie had some stunning visuals and a great cast, yet it bored me to death and that even though it’s an Action movie. I would put in a little more dialogue and I would make it a lot more dynamic if I could.
  3. The best Christmas present you’ve ever received?
I got an Adipose stress toy for Christmas this year and I just love it! Touching it feels really weird and I can’t really get myself to squish it, but it’s so cool anyway!
  4. You have the opportunity to spend the day with an actor/actress of your choice, who would it be and why?
I know a loooot of people expect me to say Benedict Cumberbatch or Matt Smith (and I would never ever say no to either of them), but I actually want to meet Stanley Tucci. I always had a weird fascination with him and like him in every role he has ever played. He’s not really the main actor in most of the movies I see him in, but he is always the one I remember most.
  5. Whats your favourite book? Why?
I want to clarify that I don’t have one favourite book. My bookshelf covers almost the entire wall and I would never pick one over the others, but I will name some of the ones that I liked a little more: The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern because it is beautifully magical, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald because it is a great modern classic, It’s not me, it’s you by Jon Richardson because I love his cynical view on life, Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen because I think the story of the old man is so very sad, A Good Year by Peter Mayle because it makes me feel as if I am in Southern France. I could go on forever, but I think it is time to stop.
  6. Who is your inspirational person? Why?
Verity Lambert. She was one of the first female producers in television and also the first producer of Doctor Who and since I want to be a producer one day, I doubt that I need to say more.
  7. Your favourite food?
    Macaroni and cheese
  8. Why did you start blogging?
I answered this question above as well, but I am going to say it again. Probably boredom and the lack of distraction during finals.
  9. If you had one wish for the future what would it be?
Short and simple: to be happy (and I wouldn’t say no to a job at the BBC)
  10. You are given the chance to: star in your own movie, be Prime Minister, or fly into space. Which would you pick and why?
Flying into space would be amazing, but I’m not sure I am cut out for a journey like that. I would definitely suck at being Prime Minister and looking at my affiliation for film I will go with starring in my own movie!
  11. If your toes spoke to each other what do you think they would say and why? They’d probably say that I should wear warmer socks and then they’d all start talking at the same time and you wouldn’t understand a word of what they’re saying.

And here are my nominations:

The questions for my nominees:

  1. If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
  2. What would be your superhero-name?
  3. If you could go anywhere in time and space, where would you go? And why?
  4. A genie grants you a wish. What would you wish for?
  5. Who’s your favourite TV  or movie character? Why?
  6. What’s your favourite book genre?
  7. If you could go and see your own future, what would you hope to find there?
  8. What’s your current favourite song?
  9. Would you rather fall into the rabbit’s hole, discover Narnia or go to Hogwarts?
  10. If you could meet any person of your choosing (dead or alive) who would you want to meet? Why?
  11. What’s your favourite time of the year?

Last but not least: Thank you again for nominating me  My Tiny Obsessions and Lucy May! I am glad you like my blog enough to give it this award and I hope that its readership will grow even more in the future 😀
