6-Year-Blogiversary: Q&A

As mentioned in my 6-year-blogiversary-post, I wanted to do another Q&A if there were enough questions to answer. I want to thank everyone who participated and even though I had hoped for a tiiiiny bit more to answer, I think this is still a fun little round up to do. I haven’t put them in categories or anything like that this time and will just answer them in the order I found them in the comments. Enjoy!

THE QUESTIONS (AND MY ANSWERS)

What’s the weirdest TV show or movie you’ve watched from beginning to end? (Rami @Rami Ungar the Writer)

I think one of the weirdest TV shows to date is still Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. It’s still hard for me to put into words what this show was about other than the fact that nothing in the universe is really a coincidence and that everything is connected. That show just got weirder with time and we were forever robbed because it ended so soon.

How did you get into movies/TV shows? And how do you stay on top of them? (Caro @Bookcheshirecat)

Hmmm … do you mean how my interest for it started or how I got to work in the industry? For the former, I can only say that I have always loved to watch TV and even in grade school, I made all my friends develop their own characters for my favourite shows so we could pretend we were part of it all (which they hated after a while). And as far as the industry and my job goes, we had career day at my school before graduation and this very new course of studies called “Film-, TV- and Media-Production” was introduced. I applied, got in and just networked my way into jobs from there. I had no prior work experience in the field, since my school was about tourism and economy.

Now, about the whole staying on top of things, I think I find out about most shows on YouTube or Twitter to begin with. Then I just try and watch whatever I can whenever I can, although it has become increasingly impossible to watch anything that’s not on at least one of the streaming services. Also, turns out, I prefer bingeing stuff instead of tormenting myself every week anew. It all comes down to whether you want to take the time to watch something or not though. When I go to bed, I have my laptop ready and watch something. When I can’t sleep and am up early, I squeeze in an episode of something before work. It’s not for everyone, but if there’s an extended period where I don’t watch anything, that’s a sign of something being very wrong with me. TV is my happy place.

What book character do you relate to most and why? (Kristin @Kristin Kraves Books)

I think that prize goes to Molly from the The Upside of Unrequited. I have expanded on the topic in my review, but it basically comes down to body type and having a million crushes that don’t mean anything at the same time. When I said that I would throw my hat into the ring if they ever made a movie about her, I was completely and 100% serious. I’d love to play that girl!

How many toes do you have? (Meggy @Chocolate’n’Waffles)

Just the standard 10.

If you could have chosen your name, what would you have picked? (Meggy @Chocolate’n’Waffles)

I am quite happy with my name, but I once did the How I See Myself as a Fictional Character Tag, where I created the fake persona Eden Rhodes and I love that name. I would totally make it my pseudonym or something should I become a writer and need a more easily pronounceable name.

Butterflies or birds? (Meggy @Chocolate’n’Waffles)

Butterflies are super pretty, but my first instinct was birds. (I guess it depends on the bird though)

Peanut butter or jam? (Meggy @Chocolate’n’Waffles)

Both? I guess if I had to eat them separately, I’d prefer jam, but I really like peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches and let’s face it … jelly in that case is basically jam?

What’s one book, and then one show, that you have a VIVID memory of adoring with all of your heart when you were younger? And do you think you’d still love them as much today? (Marie @Drizzle and Hurricane Books)

Book: Usually I say Inkheart for these kind of questions, but I was equally entranced by the book Momo. Both have shaped my young mind and I think I have held multiple book reports on them. Somehow I think that Momo probably held up better over time, but I am not sure I know why exactly. Either way, I would be scared to reread them just in case the magic isn’t all there anymore and it would ruin my mental pictures of the stories.

TV Show: Hands down, this goes to the Tribe. I was majorly obsessed with it around age 7 or so, which was way too young for that kind of show. I’ve also talked about it before, because it was about a virus killing all adults on the globe and only teens and kids surviving and now having to fend for themselves. I have watched it since and the nostalgia held up for the most part.

What are your top 3 tv shows/movies from this year so far? (Anna @My Bookish Dream)

Narrowing it down to 3 each was very difficult, but I have tried and come up with the following.

TV Shows: The Society, The Umbrella Academy, Russian Doll

Movies: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Someone Great, The Party’s Just Beginning

Which upcoming TV shows/movies are you most looking forward to? (Anna @My Bookish Dream)

This could go on forever, so I am trying to keep it to one each.

TV show: The Rook (although if we are talking about continuations of shows, it’s Veronica Mars, Stranger Things, GLOW, the Elite, etc.)

Movie: Yesterday

That’s it from my side – feel free to ask questions in the comments if there is something you always wanted to know from me! I will contact the person who has won the art giveaway separately and wish you a good rest of the day (if I don’t see you later on the Trailer post)!

Halloween Creatures Book Tag!

It’s that time of the year again where pumpkins are everywhere (just fyi, my team partner and I won the pumpkin carving competition among the interns at my firm and I am low-key proud) and people dress up as all sorts of mystical beings for Halloween. Which is why it’s the perfect time to do the Halloween Creatures Book Tag that I was tagged for by the ever amazing Orang-utan Librarian!

RULES

  • Answer all prompts.
  • Answer honestly.
  • Tag 1-13 people.
  • Link back to this post.
  • Remember to credit the creator. (Anthony @ Keep Reading Forward)
  • Have fun!

Witch: A magical character or book

A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1)

I am honestly and unapologetically obsessed with the A Discovery of Witches TV show, so I picked up the book and it has so much magic that unfortunately cannot compete with the wonder that is the show, but I am still reading it …

Werewolf: The perfect book to read at night

To All the Boys I've Loved Before (To All the Boys I've Loved Before, #1)I am confused … all books can be read at night? The last book I spent reading until somewhat 3 AM though was To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. That’s my answer even if I doubt that’s what this prompt was looking for.

Frankenstein: A book that truly shocked you

Sleeping Giants (Themis Files, #1)There were parts of Sleeping Giants, I will most likely forever think “what the what now??”, especially when it comes to  some of the medical stuff.

The Devil: A dark or evil character

Annihilation (Southern Reach #1)It’s not so much a character as it is a whole strip of land, but Area X gives me some major evil vibes in Annihilation. I have rarely been this fascinated by something like it though. If the other books in the series were available with film tie-in as well, I would have binge-read the other books like there was no tomorrow.

Grim Reaper: A character that never should have died

The Glass Word (Dark Reflections, #3)I don’t even know if anyone knows the Dark Reflections trilogy, but in the final book there is a death that I shall never get over (but since I don’t want to spoil, I won’t name names).

Zombie: A book that made you hungry for more

This Savage Song (Monsters of Verity, #1)I am pretty sure I am known for loving This Savage Song and it was just one of those books where I found a character I truly and honestly loved – August Flynn! He is my darling and adoptive son forevermore, but his world is also so very intriguing. I would have been down for copious amounts of more books in that setting rather than it just being a duology.

Gargoyle: A character that you would protect at all cost

I am going to refer to the previous answer here and say AUGUST FLYNN once more!

Vampire: A book that sucked the life out of you

This year, I read a book called Sweetbitter and I was so excited for it and the portrayal of the waiting staff at a restaurant but it was dreadful to read. It definitely felt like it took away some years of my life … in a not so great way.

Ghost: A book that still haunts you

The Night CircusContrary to Sweetbitter, this book haunts me in the best of ways – The Night Circus! It’s so magical and beautiful and intricate. You never understand everything that is happening, but you are enamored nonetheless. Can’t wait for some capable people to make this into a movie or show!

Demon: A book that really scared you

I am not even trying to be super dramatic but I honestly cannot think of a single book that really scared me, because then I most likely would have stopped reading it or never picked it up to begin with. I just don’t like being scared. (Annihilation probably came the closest though)

Skeleton: A character you have a bone to pick with

Iron Gold (Red Rising, #4)As much as I adore the entire Red Rising saga, I was just so mad at Darrow in Iron Gold sometimes. That boy was always reckless, but sometimes I just severely doubt his decision making skills. (not that I want to be the one making the decisions in his stead!)

Mummy: A book you would preserve throughout time

MomoIt’s strange that I only ever think of books from my childhood for these kind of questions but I think my answer might just be Momo. It would be so fitting as it deals with how we spend time and might not use it wisely.

Creepy Doll: A cover too scary to look at

Gonna steal the Orang-utan Librarian’s answer here and say it has to be the Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children series!

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children, #1)

The Monster Mash- It’s fun to be with friends on Halloween! Tag your friends!

Seen as it is already Halloween and I am super late, I am going to leave it up to you if you want to do this tag or not. Consider yourself tagged!

This was my little contribution for Halloween. I hope you enjoyed the post and the monthly wrap-up should follow tomorrow!

Blogiversary Q&A (Part 2)

So, just yesterday you got a little insight into the blogging and reading questions I got asked (which you can check out here if you missed it). This is part 2 of the Blogiversary Q&A I announced last week. Have fun reading this once again ridiculously long post!

TV AND FILM

First TV show you remember watching? (Savannah @The Book Prophet)

That’s a tough one. It was definitely something animated. Maybe “Der kleine Maulwurf”, which is just translated to The Mole and is a Czech TV program from the 80s and 90s?

List your favourite and least favourite characters from your Top 3 TV shows! (Savannah @The Book Prophet)

Narrowing it down to three shows feels like torture already, so I am going to give you some of my favourite shows, but the top 5-10 are always changing … so this isn’t fair at all.

Sense8 – my favourite is probably our drama queen Lito and my least favourite is Whispers (who can go straight to hell)

Wynonna Earp – my favourite is the badass title character Wynonna herself (although Waverly was SUCH a close call for that spot) and my least favourite is probably … Willa?

Timeless – Lucy is my favourite on the time team and my least favourite is Nicholas Keynes because that entitled prick thinks he can change the world to his bigoted and outdated image.

What TV moment left you the most disappointed? (The Orang-utan Librarian)

The How I Met Your Mother finale … let’s just forget that ever happened.

What was the best TV finale you’ve ever seen? (The Orang-utan Librarian)

Wow, that’s a really tough one. I like things that are neatly tied up but still with an option for possible comebacks, if that makes any sense? I quite liked the ending of Charmed and Dawson’s Creek. That’s not to say that those were the absolute best TV has to offer, but it’s my kind of finale.

You often talk about TV shows you love (and that’s incredible), but… is there any TV show you really can’t stand? (Marie @Drizzle and Hurricane Book)

This is a little difficult to answer, just because I don’t even think about shows that I might not like? If I think it’s not for me, I basically erase its existence from my brain. Sometimes friends can convince me to give something a try, other times I just ignore everyone and don’t watch it. It doesn’t mean the show is bad or that I can’t stand it. I personally didn’t enjoy Breaking Bad, so I didn’t even finish the first season and probably won’t return to it. That doesn’t mean it’s not a massive success that many people love or even that it isn’t good TV.

Kat, as the Queen of TV, recommend us some amazing shows! (Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much)

Easy: Sense8, Timeless, The Royals, Imposters, Wynonna Earp, The Good Place, Dynasty, Doctor Who, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, One Day at a Time … it’s probably best if you just browse through my #CurrentlyWatching posts haha

What TV show would you recommend to everyone? (Michelle @The Writing Hufflepuff)

I don’t believe that there is one show that fits all audiences, but if we are talking the readers on my blog, I’d say Younger! It’s about a 40-something woman who has to pretend to be in her twenties to make it in the publishing industry after she took off work for her family for too long. It’s so freaking brilliant and has already been confirmed for its 6th season. So, you get to binge quite a bit too!

If you HAD to choose one TV show to watch for the rest of your life, which one would you watch? (Michelle @The Writing Hufflepuff)

I know that back in the day I was so sure I’d say Doctor Who, but now … I don’t know. I don’t click with the newer episodes as much as I used to. I think I might go with Sense8 instead, just because it would always make me feel connected, emotional and still offer a ton of action.

A BIT OF EVERYTHING

If you could learn any three skills, and become a master at them in a month without much difficulty, which ones would you pick? (Rami @Rami Ungar the Writer)

Well, I’d love to be able to do EVERYTHING, but since I have to choose I want to be able to play the cello, learn how to surf and I’d like to design and tailor my own clothing.

When was the first moment you actually decided you wanted to become an artist? (Swinging on a Star)

Hmm … I don’t think it was an active decision. It’s always been a part of my life and I’ve been told that I was already very creative in kindergarten. So, I just indulge into that side of my personality more some times than others.

What is your opinion of a Korean band (namely BTS) becoming big in America? (Swinging on a Star)

I think it’s great! It broadens everyone’s horizon and gives an insight into Korean culture, as I tend to see people really digging deep into the background and lifestyle of the bands. I hope that the bands are also having fun while they are at it and just hope that the people who complain about their (poor) English understand that not everyone HAS to speak that language.

What is your favourite study subject? (Michael K)

Back in school I used to love English, Art and History, while at uni my favourite subject was usually Dramaturgy.

Do you have any other hobbies beside books & series/movies? (Michael K)

I’ve only just started showing some of my artwork on my blog, but drawing and painting has always been a hobby of mine. I also like to do yoga, but it’s been months since I’ve managed to go to class.

Favourite desserts? (Michael K) | What’s your favourite type of cake? (Marta @The Cursed Books)

My grandma’s red wine cake!

Which piece of artwork (that you created) are you the most proud of? (Sophie @Sophie’s Corner)

I really don’t mean to put my work down by the next statement, but I am not necessarily proud about any of the things I drew. I like them, in some cases I like them a lot, but there was nothing too extraordinary among it yet that would make me proud. However, I do love the way I captured Nico Mirallegro’s facial impression in this one:

What’s the most fun trip you’ve ever been on? (The Orang-utan Librarian)

ALL OF VANCOUVER!!! I cannot get over the amount of stars I met and sets I visited.

Would you do bookstagram? Why or why not? (Marie @Drizzle and Hurricane Book)

I don’t think so? I am just really not that great at taking pictures, light is always an issue and the quality of my photos is meh. Also, I like expressing myself more in words and I don’t like having to do everything on my phone.

One country you’d DREAM of visiting? One city in particular? (Marie @Drizzle and Hurricane Book)

I’ve always, always wanted to see Tibet.

You’re doing amazing art on your instagram, would you ever think about posting it/talking about it more on your blog as well? (Marie @Drizzle and Hurricane Book)

Sure. I don’t mind sharing my art on the blog as well, but counter question: how do you think I should incorporate it more? The only thing I can think of is a round up of what I drew for the monthly wrap up.

If you one day woke up and discovered you had superpowers what powers would you want and do you think you’d be a hero or a villain? (Beth @Reading Every Night)

I love this question so much! Many people have very intricate powers when they can wish for whatever they want, but all I will ever need as a superpower is teleportation (without restricting it to places that I have been to or seen before). And … I think I would be neither? I would keep it very much on the DL, but if I ever saw a kid hanging onto a balcony and in danger of falling, I’d obviously help. I just can’t see myself seeking out the dangerous situations and going out of my way to do heroic things .. maybe that is what makes me a villain though?

If your house were on fire and you could only save three things what would they be? (Beth @Reading Every Night)

I am guessing this is supposed to be answered in terms of sentimentality and not practicality? (cause then it’d be easy – wallet, phone and laptop) I think I’d save my High School yearbook from my exchange semester in the US. I have this wooden carved cassette that my grandpa made in which I store post cards and letters from friends, so that would obviously be saved. And lastly, the picture of my grandpa with me and my cousins.

Which fictional character would be the most boring to meet in real life? (can be from a movie, book, TV show, anything) (Andie @Andrea’s Nirvana)

It’s very hard to remember boring characters and I want to answer this question, but I honestly cannot even think of someone.

Do you have a dream art project? So something you’ve wanted to work on for a really long time now? (Michelle @The Writing Hufflepuff)

I would really, really love to draw the entire cast of Arcadia, but I don’t even know where to begin. And I’d also like for it to not just be separate portraits but one, huge image and I am afraid of ruining something if I keep adding to one paper. Hope that made sense.

Who’s your favourite Hogwarts Mystery character? (Michelle @The Writing Hufflepuff)

This is one of the best questions. I know it might sound silly, but I love Barnaby Lee. The boy really isn’t the brightest bulb in the bunch, but he is TOO PURE AND THE MOST PRECIOUS BEAN EVER! I also quite like Bill and Penny though.

What are your hopes for Arcadia? (Marta @The Cursed Books)

My biggest hope is that I get to finish it. That would already be a huge accomplishment and I would very much like for it to maybe get traditionally published one day. That’s really a long shot though. I’d just be happy if a ton of people read it on wattpad and talked to me about it.

This is the end of Part 2 and I really hoped you enjoyed to get to know me better over the past days. Again, if you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to drop them in the comments section!!

Blogiversary Q&A (Part 1)

As part of my 5-year-blogiversary celebration, I gave you the chance to send in questions for me in return for being entered in my art giveaway. I’ll announce the winner at the end of the post and will send them a separate email to confirm their win! Here are now a couple of questions I received. I decided to split the post into two parts, just because I saw how long this one was getting. Enjoy!

BLOGGING

What first drew you to blogging? (Sophie @Sophie’s Corner)

I think it was that need to share my passion with other people in a way that I maybe felt like I couldn’t do with anyone in real life. You know that feeling when you just can’t stop talking about a certain topic, but no one is actually listening? Well, I figured someone on the internet maybe would …

Do you have a blogging routine? (Sophie @Sophie’s Corner)

I wish I could say yes, but except for my Sunday trailer posts (which I have proudly kept up for more than 2 years now and never missed once), I don’t schedule or work on particular days. That might also explain why my posting schedule is pure chaos and constantly keeps changing!

If you could spotlight ONE blog post for everyone to see which would it be and why? (Lois @Midnight Musings)

I said this just yesterday, but I really am glad to have the “Let’s Talk About Arcadia!” post on the blog now. It might not be the most representative of my writing and I should update it more often, but I selfishly want this one to get a lot of traffic and lead people to my story on wattpad. I just love hearing what people think about it and to get their reaction on the characters and events that unfold.

Do you talk about your blog with people in real life? (Marie @Drizzle and Hurricane Book)

I do! At the very beginning, I had a period of time where I kept it secret from just about everyone (except maybe my parents), but as it grew and got followers, I got less hesitant to share. I even put the link for it on my CV and talk about it in job interviews these days.

Did you ever think you’d stick with blogging all these years? What makes you stick with it, even now? (Marie @Drizzle and Hurricane Book)

Honestly, no. It’s not that I particularly thought I would get bored, but something always suspected that life would get in the way and that I’d quit before the end of the first year. All the more reason to be happy now that I stuck with it, I suppose. And there is no real reason I still do. Blogging is just part of my life now and I wouldn’t even know how to disengage from doing it.

What piece of advice would you give to Kat from five years ago just starting out on her blogging journey? (Beth @Reading Every Night)

This is a good one! I think I might just tell her to be more active and post more regularly. Don’t quote me on that, but I believe I posted maybe 3-4 times a month and there is nothing wrong with that per se, but if you are just starting out and you WANT the traffic and engagement on your blog, then you have to also do the work.

Also if you could travel back to any time throughout the past five years of your blogging experience is there anything you’d change/do over again? (Beth @Reading Every Night)

Okay, so this might be a little bit of a weird one, but bare with me. Shortly after I hit my first year anniversary, I started watching this show called “Finding Carter” on TV. It featured an actor by the name of Caleb Ruminer and because there was very little to find about him on the internet, I decided to do a little post on him with the information I did find. Over night, my views EXPLODED, as in they went from 300 views a month to 4000 instead. I still have the post up now, but I feel a little embarrassed about having done such a poor portrait on a guy I neither know personally nor know much about in general. I don’t even know if the stuff I found is accurate. While it did get me a strange kind of exposure, I might not have written it as the person I am today. I just don’t think I could bring myself to do it now.

What is the best thing blogging has led you to discover? (Beth @Reading Every Night)

PEOPLE! FRIENDS! I love everyone I have met on here so much and talk to some of them not just on a regular but daily basis. I wouldn’t want to miss that for the life of me.

What do you think you’d be doing now if you weren’t blogging? (Beth @Reading Every Night)

As in right now? This second? Maybe watch a TV show or read a book? I’d probably still find some reason to browse the internet.

READING

What is your favourite book of all time? (Sophie @Sophie’s Corner)

What a cruel, cruel question! Tell you what, I will give you a book that has come to me and enamored me immediately – Call Me By Your Name. It has flaws for sure, but it was written in a way I have not seen many stories told and will forever hold a special place in my heart.

What book/series would you want to be adapted into a TV series or a movie? (Sophie @Sophie’s Corner) | If you could adapt any book into a TV show or movie, which one would you choose and why? (Michelle @The Writing Hufflepuff)

There’s a lot of books I can imagine seeing on the big or small screen in the future. The one I am still baffled about not having happened yet though is the Night Circus. It would be perfect as a magical movie that just takes you to that whole other place. We have developed the technology to really bring that story to life and I just don’t understand why the people who optioned it a couple years back let that option expire.

What was your favorite book as a child? (Marie @Drizzle and Hurricane Book)

I had different books in different stages that I loved. I always adored Inkheart and Momo though!

One author you’d never read a book from? (or read again, if you tried it out and hated it?) (Marie @Drizzle and Hurricane Book)

Hmmm … probably James Dashner. I didn’t really like the Maze Runner books to begin with and then the sexual harassment allegations surfaced and now he’s just even less interesting than before. I don’t think I will miss his books on my shelf.

You have the chance to go for a cup of tea (so British) with your favourite author/actor/director. Who would your dream guest be and what would you ask them? (Lois @Midnight Musings)

Author – Pierce Brown and I would ask him to describe the process of the TV adaptation for Red Rising in as much detail as possible, since I know he is involved.

Actress – Bryce Dallas Howard! I just love the woman and I would ask her on her advice for getting taken seriously in the industry and how she battled all those people constantly asking her about her weight and work out regiment. She’s been very outspoken about how superficial this world is and I actually love that she isn’t the typical Hollywood size but gets to star in action movies like Jurassic World nonetheless.

Director – Taika Waititi or Ava DuVernay. I can’t choose! I’d just ask them about their work process.

I know my answers were probably boring, but I don’t think I would even be able to get a simple sentence out should I actually meet them.

What upcoming book/movie/TV show release are you the most excited for? (Beth @Reading Every Night)

Book – Odd One Out by Nic Stone. I have been promised an actually amazing love triangle!

Movie – Set It Up, because Zoey Deutch and Lucy Liu!!! Also, I adore cute RomComs!

TV Show – I know it just released, but Cloak and Dagger is amazing and I need for Freeform to not mess this up (especially since they also will release New Warriors, another Marvel show soon)

Don’t worry if your question didn’t show up today, there is a lot more to come! Lastly, I put all the names on tiny sheets of paper, threw them in a bowl and let my mum draw a name. I am very happy to announce that my friend Marie is the winner!!

If you missed out on winning this time around, you can be sure I will do another similar giveaway in the future. And if you want to ask some more questions, please don’t hesitate to do so in the comments!!

Valentine’s Day Write Tag!

It’s time for another tag for writers! Since the Winter Is Here one worked quite well, I thought I’d do one for the upcoming Valentine’s Day as well. As per usual, I will be answering my own questions with the characters from Arcadia (more about that here) and hope you’ll enjoy!

RULES

  • Thank the person who tagged you but also link back to the original post(I want to see all your lovely answers, people!)
  • Provide a short description of your WIP/story!
Kasia and Dyson have known each other their entire lives, their paths intertwining at every crossroad. So forgetting he ever existed doesn’t make any sense to Kasia and neither does finding out about the magical beings that took him away from her. Now, with the help of some allies with motives of their own, she will do everything she can to get him back, not knowing if either one of them will ever be the same after all is said and done.
You can check out this post to find out more about Arcadia!
  • Don’t use just one character for all answers if possible!

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

If there is a couple in your WIP, what are their plans for Valentine’s Day? And if there is no couple in your WIP, is there someone your main character would like to spend Valentine’s Day with?

Dyson and Kasia are a couple and whenever they spent Valentine’s Day together, they’d have breakfast in bed with fresh strawberries and chocolate banana pancakes (which Dyson cooked). There were no special plans during the day, but they always made sure to get each other a ridiculously non-romantic Valentine’s Day card and have a quiet dinner together as well.

Who has no shame about going out for dinner on Valentine’s Day alone?

I think Findlay couldn’t care less about what other people think. I doubt he’d actually get a table at a restaurant, but he isn’t too aware of other people’s pitiful stares and such.

One of your characters requests a song on the radio for their crush! Which song and for which character would they pick it?

This is cheesiness only Dyson could plan for Kasia.

Is there a character who would organise an Anti-Valentine’s Day party?

Georgie would happily organise a party like that, because she don’t need no man/woman/society-forcing-a-construct-on-her-for-what-to-do-with-her-life. Galentine’s Day is her jam instead.

What romantic gesture would swoon your main character?

Hands down, Dyson had the best of best gifts for Kasia when he gave her a personalised leather-bound notebook. He wrote a heartfelt inscription for her on the first page and had her name and a favourite quote engraved on the outside. He is such a good boyfriend, I swear I would steal him away from her if I could.

Which character would buy a bunch of red roses and hand them out to strangers on the street, just to make their day?

This is something Leo, my precious darling, would definitely do. He has the best of hearts and even if he doesn’t have a sweetheart himself, it wouldn’t stop him from spreading the love with others. Also, who could say no to this cutie?

What are your main character’s favourite Valentine’s movies? (Note: Valentine’s movies don’t have to be romantic!)

Those are Kasia’s picks, but Dyson likes them too and if he says otherwise he is lying, because he is a big mushy softie inside.

Who is ready for the February 15th, just to get all the chocolate on sale?

Kasia, because chocolate.

Is there a character who never spends Valentine’s Day alone aka always has some sort of date?

From the top of my head, I can’t really think of anyone, but maybe Robyn. She strikes me as the kind of person who doesn’t like to be by herself a lot. Which is fine, you know, but some things you have to do yourself. Thankfully, Valentine’s Day is not one of those things.

Bonus: Create a Valentine’s Day aesthetic for one or several of your characters!

Even though Georgie may not celebrate Valentine’s Day with someone, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t treat herself!

I TAG THEE

I hope you liked the tag and if you did, please, spread the word!!! I know I cut it close to Valentine’s Day, but maybe there’s still some people out there who’d like to do the tag.

3 Years of Blogging and Q&A!

Can you believe it? Because I can’t! 3 YEARS! When I started this blog, I was just keen on keeping it longer than a couple of months and now I can’t imagine my life without it. I met some of the greatest people through Life and Other Disasters and I am so very grateful for the support and constant encouragement. I’ve mentioned it before, but YOU are what makes this experience so much fun!

As I’ve mentioned in my May wrap-up, we’ve only recently breached the 600+ Follower milestone and Marie and Donna were kind enough to provide some questions for the Q&A which I will answer happily. If you missed your chance and still have questions (everything is fair game), you can ask in the comments and I will answer there!

Marie:

  • “I think you’ve mentioned it before, but what kind of studies did you do/ if you did?”

I studied film, TV and media production and graduated last year in July. Now I have a Bachelor of Arts in Business, which nobody knows what to do with including me. I don’t intend to go on and get a Masters degree, but maybe someday – Who knows? My studies sound quite like the creative thing, but we were mostly about numbers and statistics and how to get the funding for projects.

  • “If you could read one genre, and only one for the rest of your life, what would it be?”

TOUGH ONE! I think I want to go with Fantasy, because even though I love contemporaries, I feel like I would miss the magical element that comes with whole new worlds.

  • “What’s the best thing about book blogging? (ONE THING. It can’t be me. I wish it was, hahahahaha. Sorry, such a narcissistic moment there, I’ll shut up now, haha). 😀”

Hahaha, I was really tempted to say you, but I can say the closest thing to it – the community. I am blogging for myself, but it wouldn’t be as much fun if there were no one to talk to about it all.

  • “What’s the most important thing you learned in all those years of blogging?”

The most important thing I learned is that blogging is supposed to be fun and not an obligation. You can have a strict posting schedule and even post every day, but as soon as you just post something for the sake of posting and not because you want to genuinely share something or talk to others about a topic, the real spirit is gone. The element of fun should remain and it’s not going to be the end of the world if you ever decide to take a break or hiatus. People mostly seem genuinely happy to have you back in fresh spirits at the end of the day.

Donna:

  • “How many pairs of socks do you own?”

It’s probably well over 40 (sorry, I stopped counting somewhere along 30 …) and I am so bad with throwing socks with holes or socks that are simply worn out away that I don’t even wear half of them. There’s one of the biggest drawers in my closet dedicated to them … well, what can you do? I am bad at clothes-related stuff.

So, I want to conclude this with another THANK YOU! Here’s to many more years to come and don’t forget to ask any sort of questions that remain on your mind!

While it might have seemed like an ordinary month, I think it was a really great one. My writing spirits are back again and I am working on a new story which has me so excited. Also, I tried to spend my off time from work more productive. You know, not just sleeping away half the day and watching some telly the rest of the hours. Instead, I went to see an American Football game, went to some shops I always wanted to visit and I even bought new clothes that I love, which is just great. I have to say, it’s been easier to find stuff that actually fits now that I’ve lost some weight though.

But that wasn’t all there was! There are now more than 600 followers on Life and Other Disasters! I am so grateful to all of you for making my day with every single comment and like. You are simply so amazing and I cannot thank you enough for being so supportive in all of this! After the quite extravagant giveaway at the 500 follower milestone, I can’t afford to do that again. But would any of you be interested in a little Q&A? If so, just leave your questions in the comments and I shall answer them in a separate post soon!
