TTT: Most Anticipated (Early) 2017 Releases

I haven’t done this in a while, but it is Top Ten Tuesday, which is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Today is all about the releases for 2017 we are most excited about. I am just going to let my list speak for itself! Here you go:

And because my brain like a piece of Swiss cheese and I forget the most basic things, here are two more I am excited about (let’s face it, Our Dark Duet will probably be my most anticipated book for all of 2017):

What are you most excited for in 2017? Tell me all about it in the comments!

TTT: Villains I Love/Hate

It’s Top Ten Tuesday, which is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the BookishToday is all about villains and you could really go with that whichever way you wanted. I was a bit torn, because sometimes giving away a villain, spoils the story, but I found a way that works for me. Also, indecisive as I am, I split the topic into villains I actually really like and the ones I cannot stand. Enjoy!

Villains I Love

Sebastian Morgenstern from the Mortal Instruments

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)I know that he’s psycho, but I cannot bring myself to dislike the guy and I have absolutely no explanation as to why. He’s also one of the characters I am most looking forward to appear on the Shadowhunters show. The casting for him won’t be easy and I want to see if they do such a magnificent job as they did with Alec or if they muck it up.

Holland from Shades of Magic

A Darker Shade of Magic (Shades of Magic, #1)Again, I can’t really explain this, but I do know that it happened more in the second book than it did in the first one. All of a sudden I started really sympathizing for him and feeling for him. If that happens, you know that you have found a good one.

Hollows from Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children

I just still want them as pets. It’s easy as that.

Jaime Lannister from A Song of Ice and Fire

This one is debatable I guess. Is Jaime really a villain? Probably not, but he’s also not the true hero. It always depends on who is telling the story, I suppose. I like him and I ship him with Brienne like crazy.

“Certain Someone” from the Red Queen Series

Red Queen (Red Queen, #1)Here’s where I can’t name names, because of spoilery reasons. However, I was surprised by the betrayal of that person and still did not dislike them. In contrary, their scenes were the ones I was looking forward to. I am crazy like that.

Villains I Hate

Amarantha from ACOTAR

A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1)Reading her backstory, I guess I can see why she chose the path she ultimately went on, but that lady was just plain cruel! I could practically feel the despair surrounding her.

The Jackal from Red Rising

Red Rising (Red Rising, #1)He’s so messed up, I wouldn’t even know where to begin. I don’t think he has one empathetic bone in his body. He’s calculating and ruthless and he’s the perfect guy you love to hate.

Mr. Moriarty from Lock & Mori

Lock & Mori (Lock & Mori, #1)I am not talking about James Moriarty, because if you’ve read the book, you know that Mori is a girl who just really hasn’t always had it easy. I blame her father for all of that! ALL of it!

Dillard Wayne Early Sr. from The Serpent King

The Serpent KingThat guy is just another example for bad parenting. He seriously gave me the creeps and he just wouldn’t accept that he did something wrong, which makes me so, so mad every time!

“Certain Someone” from This Savage Song

This Savage Song (Monsters of Verity, #1)Another person I cannot name by name, but they infuriated me from the very beginning. Their behaviour was way too self-rightious and they treated my baby August in a way that I simply could not stand. So, there’s that! No one is allowed to hurt my August!!

Who are some of your (least) favourite villains? Tell me all about it!

TTT: Current TV Obsessions

So, it’s Top Ten Tuesday, which is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and usually revolves around books, but NOT TODAY. Here’s the theme:

In honor of Fall Tv, do a tv-themed topic! Top ten favorite tv shows of all time, ten new shows coming out this Fall that are on my radar, tv shows I wish never got cancelled, tv shows I would recommend to book characters, books I wish would be tv shows, ten favorite shows from the late 90’s or early 2000’s, ten tv shows for every fantasy lover, etc.

Seen as I would never ever pass up an opportunity to talk about what I am watching at the moment, I am already into this topic, thinking how I can narrow it down to only 10. There are so many ways to interpret the theme this week, but I thought I’d just go the simple route and talk about my current obsessions. If you know me, which you really should by now, my interests in TV change pretty much on a daily basis, but some shows you simply can’t get out of your mind and here are my Top Ten of those!

Victoria (itv)

I am in love with (almost) everything and everyone in the show. The only thing I simply cannot get used to are Jenna’s blue contact lenses, but other than that it is brilliant. The struggle of a young woman to rule a country, the love story, the family drama. Argh, and I am just so happy to have Jenna back on my screen!

Wynonna Earp (Syfy)

I have a weird relationship with Syfy shows. At first, I think “Oh no, the production value is not the best and I barely know any of the actors … do I really want to watch it?” AND THEN I CANNOT STOP. It’s the same every time and I often wait until I can binge a season, because that’s when I enjoy Syfy shows the most. Wynonna Earp was no exception. I dreamt of deamons at some point … which was not so pleasant, but I cannot wait for season 2.

Roadies (Showtime)

There is some kind of innocence and idolization concerning show business about this series and I love that. The characters are quirky and funny and sweet and likable. I cannot believe that the first season is over and IT NEEDS TO GET RENEWED. The music is absolutely spectacular.

Poldark (BBC)

It is finally back and they said Ross wouldn’t be shirtless, yet he was TWICE in the first episode. I see that as a sign for a very good season, and of course the fact that they are already shooting season 3. I’ve missed Romelza so much, I can definitely see why this series skyrocketed ratings in the UK.

Hit the Floor (VH1)

Hit the Floor is nothing new, but yesterday evening they showed the summer special and it was basically a Zude-lovefest and therefore my favourite thing on the planet. Can those two just get their own show? No drama, just them being happy. I would watch that religiously.

The Aliens (E4)

I don’t even know how I stumbled upon this show, but I saw Michael Socha and I knew I had to check it out. Somehow shows or movies that portray aliens in our society, always seem so relevant somehow. What I don’t get is why those shows (The Aliens and Cleverman) focus so much on hair …

Stranger Things (Netflix)

Who is NOT obsessed with Stranger Things? I never would have thought that it would turn out to be my thing, but it so was. I love it to bits, but there’s just something about Netflix. They are very, very capable in making successful and enjoyable shows.

Dark Matter (Syfy)

It’s currently in its second season and it has turned everything upside down. I never would have imagined that I would end up liking so many of the characters *cough* Three *cough*. Now if only there was more of a love story sometimes. I need my romance … that’s just me.

Chesapeake Shores (Hallmark)

This is absolutely and without a doubt my guilty pleasure. I was bored, found this and now I think it’s cute and want to continue watching it. Hallmark is known for its cheesiness and this show is not exempt from it. It’s calm and slow and sweet, sometimes that’s just what you need.

Lost Girl (Syfy)

Who says I am never late to the party? Obviously I knew about Lost Girl for ages, but I just started watching it now. As I said above, I just love binging my shows and now I am tackling this one and might just get through it before all the new shows start.

Bildergebnis für lost girl gif

But where is me honouring Fall TV if I don’t mention some new shows I am most excited for to come out and some old ones to come back:

  • Our Girl (BBC)
  • The Royals (E!)
  • The Crown (Netflix)
  • The Arrangement (E!)
  • Speechless (ABC)
  • The Good Place (NBC)
  • Frequency (CW)
  • Westworld (HBO)

What are you obsessed with right now in the realm of TV? Are you watching any of my current faves?

TTT: Books Somewhere Along the US West Coast

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. I struggled a bit with today’s topic, because having “books in Setting X” is so super vague, I just drew up a blank. But then I thought that I really wanted to pick something that was near and dear to my heart. Well, ever since my semester abroad in Oregon, I have had this weird affection for the US West Coast. Whenever Orgeon or Washington (the state not Washington DC) is mentioned, my heart seriously skips a beat. I couldn’t find enough books for those states though, so I threw in quite a bit from California as well.

Since the topic is pretty straight forward, I am just going to leave the picture here and not explain anything about the books. If you have questions though, please feel free to ask!

Which setting is near and dear to your heart? Have you read any of the books above?

TTT: REWIND – Characters I Want as Family Members

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. If you’ve ever missed a TTT topic you were dying to take part in, today is your chance since the theme is REWIND. We get to choose any of the previous topics that were ever done and I chose Characters I Want as Family Members, because there are so many dearies out there that I love and would like to have in my life.

Alec & Izzy Lightwood (TMI)

So, those two would be my older siblings and they’d be both super badass and protective at the same time. I just have a feeling that I could get into trouble with them but that they’d also bail me out of said trouble. Does that make sense? Also, Alec could finally teach me archery and Izzy could go shopping with me.

August Flynn (This Savage Song)

My baby! He’d so be my little brother and I would shelter him from all that I could possibly shelter him from and since I know that won’t be much, I will at least always lend him an open ear and a shoulder to lean on.

Scorpius (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child)

I swear this is my last sibling! But I could NOT go without Scorpius. My other little brother! I want to defeat all the rumours for him and show people how awesome of a person he is. MY LITTLE BUTTERCUP!

Emily (Since You’ve Been Gone)

Would it sound odd to say that I want Emily as a cousin? I imagine her as the kind of person I spend the summer with when everyone is on break or so and then we would have lists of what to do each summer and it would be so much fun!

Liesel (The Book Thief)

Can you imagine having Liesel as your grandma? The stories she could tell! And there would be stories about Max, because they stayed in contact over the years, so, he would be in my life too and he’s only one of my favourite characters ever.

Mr. & Mrs. Garrett (My Life Next Door/The Boy Most Likely To)

I don’t actually want other parents, but having the Garrett’s as sort of surrogate parents would surely be nice. You could always just come to their house and you’d feel welcome and you’d get a bunch of hilarious and adorable siblings for free. I mean, who wouldn’t want a little George?

Emi (Everything Leads to You)

Another cousin of mine and she’s working in film, so I would always get to hang out on set and eventually work my way into the business and then I will work in the field I was meant to work in. YAY! (I am totally just using my cousin for career advancement here)

Lady Jane Grey (My Lady Jane)

Actually, I don’t want her as my family member in the now, but just imagine you’d be one of her descendants! There’s a possibility that you have some magical transfiguration powers and I am sure she would have left us an incredibly valuable book collection.

What did you chose as topic for your TTT? Who would you want as your family member?

TTT: Books I’d Buy Right Now If Someone Gave Me the Money

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Today is particularly cruel, because it is about books we would buy RIGHT NOW if we had the means/money/gift cards to do so. Well, I don’t even know which books to choose, because obviously I want all of them, but I guess this is about books that are already out? Because how are we supposed to buy something right this moment if it’s not released, right? I am overthinking this again, let’s get started.

Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier

Smaragdgrün. Liebe geht durch alle Zeiten 03More specifically I want the German movie edition paperback, because that’s what I have the previous books as. I really love the English covers, but since my mother tongue is German and that is also the original language the books were published in, I think it would be weird not to read it in German. Also, I like that there are movie stills in the book. But now I checked back and they HAD the paperback but now it has vanished from all the stores and only the hardcover is available. WHY DO THEY HAVE TO BE SO FRUSTRATING!?

What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick

What I Thought Was TrueI’ve read Fitzpatrick’s other books and really liked them, so I see no reason why I wouldn’t want to read this one too. I’ve been told it’s sort of a companion to the other books, but only because it’s in the same town or something.

Vampire Academy Box Set

I’ve already mentioned this in another post, meaning that I am really thinking about reading those books. My vampire phase is more than over, but I do love box sets and I could maybe one day dedicate a whole month to just that box set?

Hunger Games Box Set

Okay, so I do own copies of all three books in the series, but they are downright ugly. It was such a precious story to me though and I would like to have pretty ones to display on my shelf.

New TMI and TID Editions

Cassandra Clare is among the authors most represented on my shelf and I don’t think that’s a surprise to anyone. I JUST bought the TMI box set when they all of a sudden decided to release them with new covers WHICH I WANT! I don’t care if I have the books three times, I want them all.

Dreamology by Lucy Keating

DreamologyI’ve heard so many good things about this book and dreams – that’s totally my jam!!!

Blood, Ink and Fire by Ashley Mansour

Blood, Ink & FireI tried to get this book as a paperback, because I know that it’s available as an ebook, but I just want it in print and that’s nearly impossible … which makes me sad.

Bliss by Shay Mitchell

BlissThere’s just this innate curiosity about Shay Mitchell’s writing in me and I need to have it satisfied at some point. She is really funny and cool from what I saw on her YouTube channel and in interviews and so on, therefore I just need to know.

Romancing the Dark in the City of Light by Ann Jacobus

Romancing the Dark in the City of Lighthis is a book I always see and want, but when it comes to going book shopping, I completely forget about it … no idea why.

Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling

Why Not Me?Loved Mindy’s first book, so I definitely want to read this one as well!

So, which books would you buy this instant? My list was kind of random, but do we have something in common still? Tell me about it!

TTT: Things Books Made Me Want to Do

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. This week it’s all about the things books made us or inspired us to want to do/learn. I don’t really know if only realistic things are meant by this (like learning to play the guitar) or more impossible stuff as well (like shapeshifting). I think we are pretty free to interpret the theme whichever way we like to, but I want to stay more in the realm of what’s actual possible.

Learn Archery (Hunger Games/TMI/ACOTAR/TWATD)

What’s up with that? Can someone explain the appeal of archery to me, because every dystopian/fantasy heroine ever seems to be a pro at it. Granted, most had training or had to learn it out of necessity, but still … how are there so many? I’ve done archery before, not professionally or anything like that, but I can more or less hit a target with bow and arrow – yay! But all those books, they made me want to pick it up as a series hobby … which I still never did. I always keep saying that I might do it one day though.

Get Enchanted at the Circus (The Night Circus/Water for Elephants)

The circus has always had a certain appeal to me. I was the first to point out a poster when they came to town and I always made my mum go with me when I had the chance. I even wanted to work at a circus at some point in my life … you know, before I understood the whole animal cruelty aspect of it and my utter lack of gymnastic or magical expertise that would have qualified me as some other kind of artist. Still, I love the idea of the circus and those books always rekindle that.

Ride a Motorcycle (Nowhere But Here)

I am a complete wuss, okay? I got my driver’s license super late and I absolutely hate driving fast with it. However, there is something appealing about motor cycles. Maybe I wouldn’t even want to drive it myself, but rather hold on tightly to the driver? That’s a nice image, right? Then again, it would probably be more badass to drive yourself.

Go on an Adventure with a Stranger (Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares)

There’s something incredibly tempting about striking up a conversation with a stranger. The thing is, I can’t actually imagine something like that ever happening in real life, meeting a person and getting so randomly tangled up in each other’s lives. Well, I did meet a complete stranger on my way home once and he keeps popping up all the time. It took us like five encounters to even find out each other’s names, even though I knew a bunch of other (weirdly not very credible but actually true) stuff. At first I thought that was cool, but now he has become one of the most annoying people in my life and I try to avoid him if possible. See … that’s what I would probably be afraid of by making this a real life situation.

Live Boldly (The Serpent King/Me Before You)

Life throws you curveballs all the time and you mostly have no or very little control about what’s happening to you. However, you do have a say in the way you handle things. I want to be able to handle things in stride, to not give so much thought to everyone else and to just live my life the way I want to. To take a risk more often and to use all the amazing chances that I get, instead of claiming that I am too tired.

Write a Book (The Unexpected Everything)

Possibly with the help of others? Just start a story with a friend and then spin and spin it into something way bigger. Also, I always wanted to be this young and famous author, but I don’t actually have the commitment. I am terrible that way. The Unexpected Everything just reminded me of how much of a dream job that would be.

Go on a Trip to Find Myself (Eat, Pray, Love/Wild)

I think these things and instantly all my responsibilities and duties come flooding into mind. Very often when I wish I were rich, I don’t even want to buy all that many things (except for books, there’d be so many books), but the money would allow me to have the time as well as the means to go anywhere I want to. I don’t actually think that money is all that big of an issue for me, but time … I don’t know how people just up and go for months. I want to do that, but how? I’ve been drilled at how important jobs are my entire life and I like working, but sometimes I just wish I had a little time and change of scenery to really come clear about some things concerning me.

Learn to Play the Cello (If I Stay)

There’s something about that instrument that just makes me swoon so much. I have never shown any kind of capability with music, but this is an instrument I would love to learn how to play. That and the violin. I don’t even know why, but string music just makes me feel all the feels sometimes.

Road Trip! (Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour/How to Be Bad)

Kind of similar to the travel point above, but majorly different in so many ways, because you don’t just road trip alone. I guess you could … but wouldn’t it be so much more fun with friends? Imagine all the playlists and fun photos. All the different snacks and weird occurrences that only ever seem to happen on the road. If I could just be a passenger and not drive, I would be so in.

Find that Person/Group of Friends That Just Gets Me (Every Book Ever)

I’ve found some lovely people here in the blogging community that I adore and am so glad to have in my life. Yet, there is something different about seeing people in person every day. Whenever I pick up a book, I am baffled at the friendships that have lasted for years and years. The people are always so close knit, they can walk into each other’s homes and the parents treat them like their own kids. And not just the amazing circles of friends, but also the love interests. It may sound silly, but I have never felt a connection like that with “real” people and I am not sure if it’s because I am closing myself off to that or because there was just no one there. Point being, somehow I would have liked that in my years as a kid and younger teen.

Wow, this was all a lot more personal and even a tad therapeutic than I thought it would be, which was probably also the reason why it took me so long to write the post. What’s some stuff books made you want to do or be? Tell me all about it!
